GameStop.com for like two straight months dude, anyone who wanted him, got him. Goldar being rereleased is strictly because they spent a lot of money on a brand new mold for him that basically can’t be used for anyone else, so they have to get at least two releases out of him. Just like Zedd. Stuff like this is also why they’re hesitant to get into monsters at all, most are one and done. It doesn’t make much sense for them to spend more money (than usual, considering rangers all use the same mold pretty much) on characters that are almost guaranteed to sell worse than rangers.
They’re afraid to dip their toes into even the most popular team’s villains, which is why we have Rita, Zedd, and Goldar. No finster, squat, baboo, scorpina, rito, or Ivan ooze. These are probably “not yets” instead of “nevers” but I’d put money on only getting Rito, maaaaybe scorpina. We’ll get ooze when they inevitably do the movie rangers.
As for the other teams, we’ll never see Grumm, or King Cog, or Sledge. We’ll get Astronema because she has so many hairstyles that they can probably get one or two releases out. And evil rangers are guaranteed as well. A-squad, Deathryuger, etc. But the main villain of each series is a new tooling every time, and they won’t sell as well, so we would only get them in a 2-pack with a Battlizer Red or something.
The real question is why are villains so “expensive” when they cut so many costs through using the same body for rangers every time? If I had to guess, any excess budget from reusing bodies gets eaten up by these photo real heads and painted accessories. Zeo Blue is a straight up repaint of gold (under his vest, anyway) but the cost of his head, gun, and sword ate up the budget. Didn’t have enough for his tonfas, so he got a reused effect piece instead. It’s frustrating, seeing how the GI Joe line has new sculpts for almost every figure so far and Legends finds ways to make it work.
