Hello pals!
Like I promised I have been working on the interior of the ship I converted to Futuron.
I decided to not to go overboard as I had initially planned, I tend to fill every bit of usable space with something and that's honestly not a good idea, so I had to hold back a little but I'm happy with how it worked out.
I had no more Futuron specific printed pieces so I had to make do, but luckily I had these stickers some guy on facebook made and they're pretty neat. They're classic space, but will do as a placeholder for now.
So, ultimately we have 2 workstations, one droid and tools for all 4 team members with just enough space left over to take another team member on board or some alien corpse or whatever else they may come across.
I think I'll be done with the ship for a while, decided the engines will stay as they are as larger ones look silly. Gonna do some color swaps later and remove some more of the black in the rear section and swap it out for white to suit the theme colors better but overall I'd say it's about 80% done.

anyone with both the Creator 3-in-1 pirate ship set and the Pirates of Barracuda Bay set got an opinion on which one makes the better dock for the ship build of the other set?

I have both and because I got the 3 in 1 first it's in the ship configuration I don't wanna commit to rebuilding it into the tavern without some idea of how nicely it fits into the empty space of Barracuda Bay without the ship parts

The 3 in 1 looks nice docked at the wrecked Black Seas Barracuda as another thing to make me feel conflicted about it

Oh another thing is the 3 in 1 was a joy to build, Pirates of Barracuda Bay was an ordeal
And not like "it's a 2000 piece set of course it's going to be a lot of work" like "there are a lot of sections that are finnicky and awful and feel counter intuitive and some parts just feel flimsy when it's complete because they're designed to be removed so it can be rebuilt into the ship"

Is this set worth it to keep it as the tavern? I'm not interested in the ship configuration (besides building it because I always enjoy building all 3 versions)

I would say that the ship stands on its own merits, the tavern needs to be an addition to some kind of theme of other complimentary builds and the skull island may as well be a landscape for another build

As an addition to other complimentary builds the tavern is great but just on it's own it's ehh; it's a medieval tavern, it's a nicely detailed medieval tavern with a lot of charm but it's still not anything mind-blowing

Have the CMF figures gotten better in quality? When I was first collecting them maybe series 5 or 6 they felt like they were slightly lighter than regular figs. I found out they were made in china which would explain the lower quality. I was autistic as fuck and wouldn't mix them with my regular figs.

Though none of the Harry Potter sets that aren't Hogwarts are super great. They all have that bland feeling to them. Perhaps it's to have the building instructions accessable to younger ages than I'm used to for larger scenic building sets

I guess I was more disappointed that I was wanting to get the burrow, but when I saw the box in stores the build just looked way less interesting than I thought.
It also just has a lot of figures I don't really care for and that I don't think would be worth selling separately (as I usually do with licenced stuff).

yeah it was a good find I think. $165 before shipping. Which for such a rare set I thought was pretty good. It also had also the puzzle pieces and playing cards. The only bad things is that the statue warrior had a different colored sword (light gray instead of dark grey), the car thing had different front wheels which looked worse, and johnny and the green dress girl's faces were kinda used looking. But the rest of the set was pristine.

Basically they those things are all supposed to remain symbols free from any permanent context of political affiliation, a symbol of when its time to stop competing and try to get along until the next election. Centennial symbols, which represent all at once.

If I remember right they kind of mix in Boy Scouts type shit as their version of Care Of Magical Creatures and make it mandatory, so American wizards are self-sufficient in Muggle ways and better at dealing with magic and mundane creatures.

Plus the school is still being added to instead of Hogwarts being the same since they put in toilets.

I know the lighting in this pic is not the best because these light grey bricks look dark gray, but man Jang's hydrogen peroxide trick really worked wonders and better than I thought. It even got these old 70s white plates sparkling white again. One of my 1x1 round bricks looked like it had been burnt and now its good as new. I would be surprised if they don't use it again at some point, but two of them in a $30 set is probably the best you will see unless it's a CMF, which seems doubtful.

The centaur bottoms are almost as much plastic as a whole horse, and bigger than some of the animals that notoriously drive set costs up. The set isn't a bad value, but I don't plan to army build it unless it's 20% off. The tree side build is good generic terrain, and the giant/ogre will fit in with generic fantasy. The only down side is the 3 minifigs aren't especially desirable in multiples and are probably like a third of the price.

On the upside the ogre can equip the infinity gauntlet.

The contents of this theme's sets could possibly have these items to make it more unique to other themes.

Basically, getting one of these sets could be like choosing your own monster. And deciding to create it and evolve it with the capability to create your own "battle" storylines similar to Pokemon. Instead of using the usual elemental types as the main types. I've thought about using the traditional Evil/Good/Neutral dynamic (Dark/Fighting/Psychic) and use them as the only types to keep things simple and easy to understand for children. Along with keeping it more distinct from Pokemon.

Elements still make their appearance, but they instead appear as stat enhancers that would be marked on the combat dice themselves. They can add in more stats on a action if the element matches with the creature's element.

Thank you and sure! Personally I think the logo looks pretty great on it's own, but I feel that it doesn't seem to work well as a logo considering that it feels bit too complex with the smaller details spread throughout the logo that makes it feel that it's not aimed at Lego's general audience. Not to say that it needs to be made kid-like but I mean as in to make it more simpler, so that it's more approachable logo and easy to understand too. I do also feel that the name is bit too long considering that most Lego themes tend to have really simple names for the sake of being recognizable and easy to remember.

It's important to keep things very simple as simple things can be quite powerful on it's own.

Looking at it again, you should even try compressing the gas station building to the width of the gas pump roof. That's just a huge building for not much happening, especially since gas stations/convenience stores tend to be smaller. But in Lego that's a strength, it'll take less bricks($) to accurately portray the building's function.

Depending on the color some times its cheaper to get legit Lego on bricklink. Especially if it's just filler colors.
I use third party stuff that's been mixed into my storage, and mostly it's fine, but even the good parts get iffy once you make larger structures with them (or even just use them in less than stable placements)

also check out how to remove 'flicker' from lighting caused by the refraction of literally you standing behind the camera or other thigns that change behind the camera
this is solved by putting black paper between you and the camera to enclose the scene
this will stop individual frames having slightly different levels of ambient light or different coloured refracted light

im the anon that made the little test brickfilm, i used my cell phone to take pictures and then i uploaded those pics on my computer and used "monkeyjam" to make the stop motion. then i used freesound.com to get sound effects, and windows movie maker to put them on the video at the times i wanted. i wouldnt reccomend using movie maker though its kind of trash.

also looking back at the filming process, i would invest in buying some sticky tack for doing masking (illusion to make legos fly) and to secure the sets. i would accidentally wobble my table and have to restart the whole thing. if u dont want to use ur phone, u can buy a decent logitech webcam and tether it to your computer. i HIGHLY reccomend getting an onionskinning software or something because without it it wouldve been much harder to film. i followed this guy's walking sequence and it was pretty good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiryzIqLuJA

The ball joint is the nexo knights crossbow projectile.
The mixel sockets don't allow for as much movement as I would have liked, he can't spread his legs very much, and he can't swing his arms straight forward or backward.
Other than that, I love the lanky guy, he's been sitting on my desk in different poses all week.

So I know the white balance is off in the picture, but I actually really want the light stone grey to come back. I'm thinking his skin is white, the jacket is medium stone grey, and the arm is dark stone grey. Unless the arm is just a weird shadow? Then I guess we could have MS grey for the skin and a DS grey for the jacket? Also usually the eyes are printed on black tiles, so getting them on a lighter color is cool. Also the new shape is a thing I guess. Overall upset, but I'm over 100 brickheadz in so I doubt I'll stop now.

Bought a lot of 80s Lego for stupidly cheap. The governor's head is in here (along with the rest of 6274-1) but I didn't find the rest of him. Should I bricklink him back to life? I think I'd only need to buy the torso and hat but they're pricey.

A complete Clipper goes for quite a bit and the Bluecoat Governor is one of the more expensive and desired classic minifigures. I'd say go for it if it'll complete the set.

I'm fairly certain it's complete apart from that, but I haven't put it back together yet. All three sails are there, but I'll need to clean them somehow and trim any fraying.
Skull's Eye Schooner seems complete as well, but oddly enough it's missing its captain too.

Aside from the Governor and sails, the only major, rare piece is the yellow parrot. The Skull's Eye Schooner is an excellent find considering its by far the most expensive classic pirates set. Brickset has the current used value of the SES at around $460, makes me glad I got mine in a bulk lot for $145.

I haven't personally had to wash sails, however if you want to straighten them, I lay them flat in a pillowcase and iron them. There's probably quite a few old guides on Eurobricks, Youtube, etc.

When I made brickfilms as a kid I used a webcam that would allow me to manually adjust focus on my computer so I could take pictures without the camera moving, if you get a regular camera make sure you use some kind of clicker or it will look like you filmed in an earthquake

Without a big burger on top, or dining tables out front under umbrellas, it seems really empty for such a large building. Also yeah, air conditioners, vents, maybe a door up there. Also for some reason I really want to see an ice chest in front.
