I like the aesthetics of the T30, but that tight-panel transformation, limited articulation, and the self-destructive shins were just too much to accept. The new one looks great, but it really sucks that his hands are 3mm when they've been pushing the 5mm stuff for so long.

Part of me hopes Kingdom wheeljack will have a more accurate blaster, and maybe they'll have fixed the QC issues but with kingdom being so close to launching hasbro doesn't have enough time, nor do they give a shit. The off-white is better in person, but I'd still prefer regular white.

Pretty sure thats how they did the MP, and likely how the'll do the Kingdom one. IF you look at the model the chest piece is the same size as cheetor, its the head and limbs that are larger.

Even if it's just a re-issue, it's possible they might change the particular plastic mix by then. I've found it's always better to wait if I'm not 100% enthused with available decos. Either I'll get something I'm more satisfied with, or I'll realize I didn't want the toy that badly in the first place.

sure, but compared to this new little guy... his stuff just hangs there and that lower part with the tail isn't done well. T30 Rhinox was pretty good too, but that plastic used and loose hips didn't nail it, he's not solid. Waspinator's flaw would be the knee articulation. They were good for their time, but you could tell budget were getting cut (Isn't this when they had layoffs and design team changes?)

So far the 3 Kingdom figures are loads tidier and good looking with all the articulation you'd expect on their size classes/price points.

Core Rattrap is kind of too small. I get that he's a small character, but the Core figure is too short as much as the Generations Deluxe is too tall. If Cheetor is a standard Deluxe, a correctly scaled Rattrap would be more like the short Deluxes that Cliffjumper ect are, rather than the Legends/Core size that Rattrap is.

Its an unfair bias, though, if you can consider car wings and pipes and the like hanging off robot modes to be part of the design, there's no reason not to consider the same for beast bits. I always thought it gave a lot of figures a pelt-covered look, like some kind of ancient warrior.

I don't think they literally meant this.
I think they mean they are the ER style shrunk down.
It'd be impossible to scale OP to that size and not have parts breaking off or being too small to manipulate well.
Megatron would have a better shot since his hands are simplistic and his transformation isn't as complex as OP

I think the issue is Rattrap was a compromise to justify the core class existing and to free up a deluxe slot. Besides I think he sets a decent tone for core figures, he decently articulated for the price point and manages to have less kibble than the previous generations version.

What I'm getting so far. Not sure how the fossil dude's work yet so not interested at all for the moment (on a passing interest on the T-Rex one). Green is definitely getting, blue is interest, purple is maybe.

Rattrap having 3mm hands and the lack of color is a bit of a turn off, even if he's fine otherwise. If I knew how to paint I'd probably pick it up but I don't have the equipment or know anyone who does so he's a pass. Never been that huge a fan on Cheetor, so probably passing as well. Even assuming Megatron, Primal, Warpath and Rhinox are good, I'm not sure I'll get them since I still own the anniversary BW Megatron and Primal, T30 Rhinox (I know he has issues but at this point I accept I bought him and will live with it) and the Generations Warpath is still a favorite of mine.

You can absolutely integrate beast parts into various parts of a robot and make it look nice. Problem is Hasbro's unwillingness to do any sort of redesigning and their urge to make everything cartoon accurate. Sticking all the animal/car parts on the back is stupid when it could be spread out in more creative ways.

Pretty sure Earthmode style Ultra Magnus in the past was basically Optimus Prime but combines with his trailer all the time. That begs the question as to whether the new Ultra Magnus is a retool of ER Prime or a retool of the Siege toy cause the leaker isn't quite sure apparently.

Not sure what you mean, the OG and MP are Earth style and so are most Optimus Prime repaints. Only the Siege one was Cybertronian.

I'm personally hoping for Earthmode Ultra Magnus to take the best of both Siege and CW Magnus (white cab transform into white Optimus, trailer form the bigger body) but I'm not sure Hastak can pull it off.

Not at leader price point they can't, unless you want the cab to be nearly scout sized. Commander class fits it better.

haha, gears and huffer must be seething not to get as many toys as warpath, brawn, powerglide, windcharger and even cosmos did.

Na the MP Tigatron is a completely different design and transformation, it's not an upscale on Cheetor at all.

While it would be nice for the Kingdom Tigatron to get a proper mold made for it I really doubt they're going to pass up on such an easy repaint just to do one somewhat minor character proper justice. He'll be the one to get beefed up limbs and a new cat head and that's it.

The new MP Star Scream seems pretty good but I'm really not liking how they didn't give him any heel spurs at all. Like they seem to think that just pelvic thrusting the upper body forward will do the job and won't make posing him completely fucking annoying at all if you so much as dare to move the legs out from under his backpack.

They should do like that KFC Bliztwing MP and just give him flip out heel panels that are like 5 inches long so it's impossible to knock him over
