Can I get some good recommendations for some Preds. I'm new to collecting them, and NECA seems cool, but I feel a lot of their stuff is just the same mold with a different weapon, or shoulder cannon placed on opposite side.

Unfortunately you're kinda out of luck. NECA made a shittonne of Predators but most of them have some downsides, usually stemming from either their shonky QC or refusal to make a non-netted body, leading to sculpted on but unpainted netting. Revoltech did a Predator but it came out a bit shit. There's the Hiya Predators but they're tiny and not very poseable. Only other Predators (also the best IMO) are the Monsterarts Wolf Predator and the Figma Takeya-styled Predator, which is expensive but looks amazing so long as you're OK with an alternative design.

NECA's Predator line has some AWFUL mold reuse and the QC is so fucking shoddy. Every one of the Predators I bought has issues right out of the box. I 100% gave up on them following the Bad Blood/Enforcer 2-pack release. The Enforcer didnt even come with the fucking Smart Disc holder on his thigh, what the actual fuck

The Red Queen is the only NECA figure from the line I won't part with. It's not even that great from a playability standpoint but it looks fucking sick on the shelf and was my first "collectible" purchase. Shame I had to start with such a shittt companies offerings

They definitely fit with 1:18 figures. It's 3.75" that they don't fit in with, but most lines nowadays are 1:18.

You do remember that she's supposed to be attached to an egg sac, right? That thing made up the bulk of her body mass, and was a physical part of her body that she literally tore out after Ripley fired grenades into it. She looks off balance because she's literally been disemboweled. She's also intended to be hanging from the ceiling, and wasn't supposed to be mobile once she's started laying eggs, meaning her body has atrophied to the point where her lower torso is supposed to be becoming vestigial.

Yeah, I get your point. I would question why she has all that armament though like the head crest, spiked tail when she's meant to be an immobile egg-factory. Mcfarlane did a version years ago which was not movie-accurate but looked much more believable.

She was much more of a proper "bi-pedal" design that actually stoop upright on her two legs instead of kindof leaning forwards into space.

I've bought three NECA Aliens, one of which is now dead- I had the blue pre-Ultimate Warrior, which was honestly a bit shit and exploded from a shelf dive. I still have the AVP Warrior which is a nice design but suffers heavily from their QC and the soft plastic they use. The Kenner Rhino Alien I have on the other hand is pretty based.

You are insane. The colour isn't even remotely close. The NECA figure is pale baby blue, the prop is a dark indigo. The Hiya toys fig in the OP is much closer, as is the old Revoltech. NECA's is nowhere near. USE YOUR EYES.

I found an old Lava Planet Predator that I broke as a kid and never threw out, and being an adult now with access to power tools, I fixed it up real nice.

The cool part is that the hole I drilled in the head fits on the trimmed sprue so snugly, that it holds with surface tension preserving the articulation!

Also if you go looking for older figures beware a certain time period. Starting about 2013, neca decided all its figures should be hyper shiny for a while, idk if my picture will show the comparison well but it looks super bad irl. Other than that a lot of the older necas look fabulous compared to current stuff.

This is the best standard neca alien, unfortunately for you it comes with a bunch of extra stuff that you probably wouldn't want which inflates the price.
If you don't mind your alien a little bloody, I'd check out the new big chap figure.
Otherwise, I'd buy a warrior, the "ultimates" come with the complete life cycle which I imagine could be fun for someone who doesn't already have 1billion face huggers, chest bursters and eggs.

I got my red queen for "free" from Gamestop's old point program, it's a shame it looks like they stopped including physical merchandise in the catalog because they used to offer cool stuff like that with free shipping to boot. Not like it'll matter when they die soon anyways.

This looks really good and a Queen in this scale would be cool. I'm salty on the NECA because I paid retail for it and the head and leg were both not attached out of box. The head needed gorilla glue to fix the clear rail the head peg slides on must not have been glued enough. Leg just needed to be heated up and snapped back onto the peg but was pretty annoying getting it that way. Its not a bootleg you should be able to tell from the photos its just NECA quality.

It is accurate. You seriously can't tell there is a difference in lighting between the reviewers shots of the figure and the prop in the movie set? In a dark setting the figure looks completely accurate. I know because I have one.

the paint looks great in person depending on your NECA QC lottery. The one I had has perfect pain applications on the head no thumbprint etc and looks better than the one in Shartimus' review. I think its just his lighting and camera settings making it look more blown out than it really is.
