Universal fumbled their Dark Universe project, but it now seems that they're rebooting it with the DC-style series of non-connected movies, starting with Invisible Man which was positively received. I'd imagine that they could make some comedy/parody movies with Lego as part of this.

IMO Barracuda Bay looks more interesting as island than as yet another generic ship, and Creator looks pretty nice as ship and utter shit as building. I have them both as ships ATM, but intend to dismantle BB and make it into the island and moc it. I'm keeping Creator as ship, but I might experiment with it's size.

Probably just a cost thing. If I recall correctly, even standard plates are made separately, so they're only in large sets.
Not to mention that those raised baseplates are prone to breaking, so it's just worth it to make sets with floating parts built upon BURPS

I mentioned it a couple threads ago, so this weekend I finished up my rainy day project of combining two creator sandwich shop sets.
There's a lot of little pieces missing but I'm pretty happy with the result. It's just floating for now until I figure out where I want it in my city

That being said, it has some fun designs. Interesting pallettes and new pieces, and some of the sidebuilds and little buildings were surprisingly cool.

While I agree the pink stands out too much, everything else looks excellent.
Would've prefferred a smaller second floor on that one with a bit more depth and a bit more desaturated colour. But I understand they already did that with the right building and they wanted more contrast, so they couldn't make it gray either.

This set really is a lesson in how one thing that is out of place or takes a lot of attention can distract from everthing else so much. Most of the feedback i saw here were mostly negative despite everthing but the pink looking really fucking cool in my book.

Somehow had all ~400 parts still in it. With instructions and advertising material. It's a lot of fun to play with even if the plastic LOOKS like it's of low quality, everything fits snug and perfect.

Yea I just wanted one of these sets to use with the UCS republic gunship coming next year and I wanted a AT-AT but they had just put out a ton of these 501st and didn't have the other so I bought them all and saw everyone here trying to get them so I've sold them all minus 1 for 80$ a set which will pay off my AT-AT when I get it and I'll still have cash left over.

Anons, I had an astonishing luck. What are the chances to see two unrelated to each other lots on a local site for used things that complete each other?

First lot was pic related. Initially there were only disks on photo, but kind seller handled me a bag with parts, all for 3$.

Second lot was a Blaster Slizer with both disks missing and one socket in black instead of yellow. The first bag had both disks AND the one lonely yellow socket !!!

Here is the big boy completed. No scratches, no signs of wear. The other black disk is from Judge slizer and I find it cute that Blaster itself is an amalgamation of Judge and Amazon.

The lot with Blaster was 6$

With spare parts I was able to complete second "Power" roborider (I have all roboriders and some parts of the one from my childhood)

And with same parts from the bag it was possible to assemble incomplete Flare slizer. Both disks are there, but visor is missing (it's Boss roborider visor instead), two orange pins and black gear are also not there. I'll get those on bricklink later

My "childhood" slizers were torch and ski. I lost visor from torch long ago and regained it a few years ago. The fact that I refused to play without visor as a kid saved the guy. Ski on the other end was unlucky...

Always wanted the guy so I was able to pick him up a few years ago, it was nice to have him around. All I own in terms of slizers now are Electro - none of the slizers I had in recent years were my originals sadly. When I picked up Bionicle as a child, I was very much in the "new is better" mindset so I sold all of the slizers I had. Electro, Millenia, Spark, Flare, Amazon, they all were passed on back then. Still regret it every day.
My bro had Ski. Loved all of these goofy guys though.

every now and then my cousin sends me an update on the current price of a complete black seas barracuda, because my aunt didn't understand that the fully built on display ship shouldn't be given away
on top of that it broke in transit and she didn't include the instructions when she gave me the half broken up parts (shoved into a garbage bag on top of the rest of the mixed bits he had) so it never got rebuilt

So I've bought him a pirates of barracuda bay this year but it's just kind of sitting around cause I made the fool decision of having it shipped to me because at the time it looked like lockdown was going to be lifted
But then fucking melbourne dropped the ball just in time for the annual family holiday to be cancelled

I havent built shit in ages but how does that thing stand with mostly just mixels joints? As much of a godsend for mech building they are, I don't consider them able to support the size of a mech like yours. I do see that its construction is quite skeletal but idk, I had to use ratchet joints for my mechs.

So the interior with the adventurers display is really neat, but other than that it takes up way too much space for compared to it having that much visual impact (outside of size). The super tall tower doesn't proportionally really look all that great or reminiscent of spooky houses to me and that's just for the elevator gimmick i'm not too interested in. Also the minifigures aren't nearly as fun as a bunch of og monsters

The sets were too expensive in my opinion. The cheapest set is around $50. Plus, there's too much of a focus on vehicles. I mean, I like the little mini-marts that comes with the big mech sets, but I'm not about to pay $100-200 for them.

Hidden Side did this better. There was a nice mix of vehicles, buildings and displays. Plus, there were also a number of good lego sets for under $50.

Imo it was a strange theme. Many of the smaller sets felt too gimmicky and the big ones could've been stand alones. Especially the horror themed sets.

I don't think the Monster Fighters line would work as a long-term recurring theme. As you said, there are only so many "classic monsters" to use, and they kinda blew their load with that one wave covering them all. If they were going to "redo" the theme in any capacity, probably the best thing to do would be to devote each wave to one type of monster. Like a wave for vampires, a wave for ghosts, a wave for werewolves, and so on.

That said, if this whole "Universal Monsters" theme rumor is true, I'm afraid we might be plagued by fleshies since it would be another licensed theme.

I'm on the fence about getting it. I don't really care for Harry Potter, but it seems like a fun spooky-ish build with October coming up. Also could probably recoup some of the cost by selling all the figs. I don't need no fleshies

Also, despite being massive, the thing has pretty much zero functions outside the cockpit.
The Lava Stone Mech had hidden weapon storage areas, the Titan Mech a spinning shield and removable backpack jet, the Quake Mech openable shoulder speakers, the Hidden Side firetruck had the whole transformation gimmick, hell even Exo Force had stuff like the light bricks, spinning shields and removable mini mechs and don't get me started on sets like the Tech Wizard Showdown that has so many functions that some didn't even make it onto the box or into the description.
This thing has absolutely nothing besides maybe the variable staff size.
It's really just something you put on the shelf after building because looking kinda neat is all it really does.

Today I just purchased my first Lego set that cost over $30. My 3 year old son has about $300 worth of duplo, mostly gifts, but I've picked up Legos whenever I find them half off because he will need them eventually and my wife opened one of them up with him on a 109° day and she really enjoyed building it so I went ahead and purchased assembly square for both of them for Christmas. Not sure if this was a good decision or bad but we'll see I guess. I figured if it's not that fun then we can flip it back on ebay.

This is the anticipation and you'd be a fool to bet against it. The re-visit to POTC got us brickheadz and a single large set. Simpsons got 2 large sets and 2 CMF waves. Thanks for the response. When I was a kid we always had giant 1000 pc puzzles that we would work on during christmas/the holidays. I want to keep something like that going on maybe just with legos instead? I'm not sure what to expect but it might b good. The movie set is supposed to look like it's about to collapse, but the Lego build is almost undoubtedly secured with hidden hinges that allow it to tilt a bit but will keep the whole thing stable.

Whenever the fuck I get it I guess
Those little power up packs are both a blessing and a curse
More plates to give a few more turns and more space
But I also need to find even more connecting pieces
The fact that both the Fire flower and builder hat work for bowsers castle is a godsend to me
Any single space I can get to make it just a bit more twisty, and a bit more compact in the middle, the better
Gotta say though
As cool as the lava themed sets are, they’re fucking massive and a pain to get set up proper
