Also walmart has basic figures for 7$. I bought a drilltron today. Excited for beast morphers lightning collection, and will definately display.

I'm happy we have enough figures to build a 6" display other than mmpr.

The only thing i could wish for is a lightning collection tronic 2 pack. I know yellow bm is coming soon

Power Rangers is the polar opposite of a money pit. All you have to do is not be retarded with it and you have a dirt cheap show which rakes in merch sales using the same formula every year. Bandai, Disney, Neo-Saban, Lionsgate, and now Hasbro have struggled to simply not be retarded with their handling of the brand. The franchise was a golden goose through SPD.

Nah, once they adopted the Sentai formula of a complete refresh every year they were consistently among the top boys brands. The mishandling of the series during the Kalish era is where the cracks started to show.

This is an issue that doesn't need to exist. As far as the show goes skew older and both audiences will like it. In terms of toys Bandai had a great unified line in 2014. There was one line of figures which appealed to both the kids and older fans. When Bandai tried to do a separate collector geared line in an entirely different scale it fragmented the consumer base and everything started to fall apart. Hasbro at least had the sense to do both their kid and collector lines in the same scale to get some cross appeal, but with most of Hasbro's focus being on the more expensive collector figures they're losing the kid market. Bandai's bread and butter were always the cheap basic figures, and they started doing multiple US original cockpit modes per series just to sell more of them. In two years of Beast Morphers Hasbro will have made roughly half the basic figures Bandai typically would in one year. I think ultimately having one line for kids and one line for collectors doesn't work for Power Rangers. Bandai had their most success when they made one line of toys that could appeal to both markets.

We literally still see this. The dino crossover is a good example. You can't go far enough into the lore to talk about anything in the other series cause kids are watching. At the same time you have to deliver fanservice that most of the audience won't understand.

Lightning collection right now is straddling being for the adult collector, while also being affordable for kids.

Straddling audiences is the one reason saban never made a good season. You can't even successfully adapt gokaiger because they're afraid to drop any lore, and the actors besides tommy and austin hate saban entertainment.

And? Psycho Blue was also sent to gamestops by the caseload. By making them part of a wave you're mitigating the risk of having it shelf warm by reducing the quantity that are forced into into retail. And that doesn't even take into account the possibility of shoving them into a 2 pack like they did with Zedd.

Why would a parent buy a retro $20 figure when you can get the current seasons figure for $10. You know the figure that the kids are watching and actually want. They want to call it the collectors line but collectors will notice those missing details of a supposed collectors line. How can Hasbro expect people not to nitpick if its "premium" design.

Bandai started off great with Green Ranger and his weapons. Jason was good too but missing his weapon for the BAF. People would have loved weapons like the Green Ranger release over BAF. Then the rest of the MMPR team came out and the belts, missing paint on the morphers. You start off with two perfect figures then later on you cant produce the same team consistently, come on now! You cant say oh the budget. If that were the case then do your work and actually budget the releases so the teams are detailed and consistent even if not in the same wave.

That's why i hope the so called $30 villain figures are true. More detail and complete paint. Now it will feel like a true collectors line for Power Rangers well at least the villains.

As a collector the rubber weapons have also been a huge issue. I unserstand safety, but after a year alot of my wave 1 weapons are bent.

Observing what kids are and aren't gravitating towards over the span of 16 months isn't the leap in logic you're making it out to be. I always see boys hitting up Transformers and Marvel shit but never Power Rangers, let alone the lightning collection. Given how sparsely stocked Beast Morphers toys have been I think it's pretty clear kids just aren't interested in the brand these days, which explains why Hasbro is leaning into the collector market so much compared to Bandai who always gave priority to the kids line.

Found the new wave at the local Target and got Zach. Comparing with the alt head from my Walgreens Black, I'm surprised to say that I actually kinda like the dread head better. Also, the blade mode blaster being included was a nice surprise.

Okay, that makes sense. I guess it's just a case of the fans who hate it being vocal and the ones who do like it not caring enough say anything. Judging by the vitriol I see in these threads I was under the impression that it was hated by the entire fandom. I've read a little of Go Go Power Rangers and I've enjoyed it. I appreciate that Rita is a little more active and that the Ranger's struggle maintaining their personal lives more than what they did in the show, but for all I know it could go massively off the rails.

I like the comic okay, most of the time. I don’t mind some of the designs either. But Drakkon is basically someone’s Deviantart come to life. Ranger Slayer is neat, but some of the other designs just suck. Omega Rangers are a cool idea but their costumes are way too busy. Same with the solar rangers. And then stuff like the 1969 rangers and psycho green is just popular stuff with a fresh coat of paint. The other anon is right, there’s way too much MMPR wank and any mention of other series is brushed off quickly. Wish they’d make a time force comic and call it a day.

They retcon every established piece of lore in power rangers, by their very existence. Suddenly yellow, red and black weren't going to quit, but actually became the most powerful rangers ever.

By far my biggest gripe is that its all zordon era, with a heavy focus on mmpr. Anyone born in the late 90's is nostalgic for either time force, wild force, or the disney era.

Ontop of that alot of the neo saban era original sentais are great. I only tune in for the team ups, so i don't care how bad neo saban was. The fact is the original sentais were good so give me figures.

I almost never see any Hasbro PR stuff on shelves that aren't Lightning Collection or that one basic nontransforming Beast Morphers Megazord. Not once have I seen the transforming Zords or the roleplay toys, and I've only seen the basic figures once at a Walmart. Now that you guys mention it, the two Lightning Collection figures I have, Shadow Ranger and Magna Defender, can't stay standing for a prolonged period of time.
I've never had that issue with any other line, not even Marvel Legends which I never get tired of shitting on. I could have them standing straight and after about half an hour or so they will fall down. I could have them in an action pose and they also fall down after a while. It's really weird.

I suspect it is because of how dense the plastic is in certain pieces and how thin it is in others in conjunction with how some joints don't feel all that solid.

I'd like both ideally. Though I'd also like all their gear, which the Shodo Super figures come with most of it, but the Hasbro line sure as hell won't. The $20 price point just doesn't work for most Rangers, they are missing too much shit. Lightspeed figures could easily be $40 deluxes.

These guys lay out my concerns pretty well. Really want them to make the best out of Lightspeed. The super hero stuff is why I've ever payed money to this franchise. Some characters are nice, but I'd rather have them out of suit entirely than have them eat up budget for their Ranger counterparts.

If what you're saying is true, then perhaps they intend to release a fixed batch to stores in the future. Your replacement head will come from that round of manufacturing. If this is true though, it will be a bit of a pain in the ass to see them at Walgreens finally. At least around here. Walgreens will have already gotten the bad ones. It's gonna be a long time until they order more, even if they manage to sell the bad ones.

Almost have to wonder if this unpainted batch was an unintended mistake Hasbro couldn't stop from shipping out. Could explain how Hasbeo was so quiet about its release, though then I couldn't understand how Hasbro couldn't stop it. It would either be that they didn't bother to check on the manufacturing until it was too late or they had a strict contractual agreement with Walgreens that they demanded it would be on store shelves within a certain time period.

I missed the pre-order window(why the fuck doesn't anywhere let you buy these fucking things after release), but managed to snag Victory Robo from a seller in HK for a quite mild markup, but the shipping brought the price up to about $100.
In the future, just try to keep an eye on the news and start saving money when they announce what they're designing next. There was a good few months between seeing drawings for Victory Robo and Grand Liner and any sort of preorder opening up.

And you could get this set, the price isn't too bad for both from P=Bandai.

Maybe. More likely that they’d do some of the comics shit and we’ll get one through that, whether it’s the recent power swap or the 1969 team. Either way, male yellow will sell far better than female black or male pink, due to the Sentai connection.

Sorry, that was meant to be a joke. I'm actually pretty excited if it's true, it just seems far-fetched compared to the Hasbro's output so far.
