After Ultimate Race, Acceleracers was supposed to continue with a new focus on combat and the like, but in the end it was canned because Acceleracers was so popular that internal marketing guys were afraid it would outshine Hot Wheels itself. These action figures were some of what would've come out of this Acceleracers continuation, but they never saw the light of day. I and a bunch of other people are still mad about it, Acceleracers was the shit.
Some of the concepts left behind were apparently used for Battle Force 5, which needless to say was not as cool.

Apparently Takara of all companies, helped with the designs of those toys, presumably using their experience on Microman/Micronauts to help make these. The toys would have had interchangable car parts that could be used as weapons or modifications for each car

What a shame...

This is Lego Seatron, an unreleased 1996 Lego theme that would've been set on an alien planet, with underwater astronauts with new torso pieces but due to budgetary reasons, combined with the discontinuation of the 90's Lego Monorail sets, lead to the whole lines cancellation

It looks pretty neat and it's a shame it never got made

A combination of the company that made them going out of business (Lego outsourced the basic toy designs of them) and the Monorail sets nowhere near as much money as Lego Trains was so they got the axe.
