Generally not a fan of battle damage, but for some reason the clean chest looks soulless compared to the right. Same with Spinister's arms/legs, sometimes it's done okay. I don't understand what's happening though

I think part of the problem is that the Apeface concept is harder to pull off. The original toy wore half a plane on his back.

G1 Snapdragon did too, but the Generations designer realized that the bulk could easily become the robot legs and the problem was solved.

Apeface has better arm articulation than Snapdragon, about the same leg articulation, but he doesn't have a waist swivel like Snapdragon. Neither of them have wrist swivels. Apeface is also a pain to transform the first time, but once you know how to line everything up it becomes less of a hassle.

The battle damage paint is difficult to remove. Even after soaking the parts in isopropyl alcohol for days, it wouldn't come off. I ended up painting over it for the black and magenta, and sanding it off for the purple in the end.

I think he's great, but I also like the idea of Magnus's cab/inner bot not just being a repaint of Optimus. If you've got a Ross store nearby you might be able to find him for under $20 right now, and I would certainly buy him for that price unless you really want him to be a straight Optimus repaint with a different trailer.

It's sometimes more difficult to remove than the actual regular paint, and sometimes you'll have the battle damage paint placed over the regular paint! :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Every Siege Voyager (except Optimus and Megatron) had their battle damage paint printed on, and was indeed more difficult to remove than the actual paint. It's easier to just sand it off or paint over it.

The lack of restraint is what I like about him. Best to think of him as his own thing, like Big Convoy or Fire Convoy early Armada concepts had him as Monster Convoy and pushed the monster truck
feel(the monster convoy wording is still on his wheels I think). He's a big , bulky, bruiser Optimus

Sort of. As a figure on his own, he's not great, just barely above good. His two alt modes are really just a whole bunch of nothing, and his parts seem oddly specifically designed to work on Wheeljack yet they're too heavy for him to actually be able to hold upright.

Can't recommend unless you're desperate for something new. I also had to scrape out excess paint in the 5mm peghole on his left arm or his tower mode couldn't be properly combined, and this is apparantly a common issue.

Because every Hot Rod hasn't been quite right. The nicest looking one was the first MP, but that had several breakage issues. The TR wasn't bad, but it didn't look G1 enough (I personally didn't care, I love that toy), and the POTP was weird.

I don't like fake chests. I'd honestly rather have a flawed, real hood as the chest than a fake one. Then, I'd also rather have a headmaster Roddy, too. Really? Where? Mine has been fine, and I've been pretty clumsy with it from time to time; the torso/hood part of the transformation always messes me up a bit when I haven't done it in a while, and I feel like I'm always forcing it.

I love Hot Rod. Mostly because of his outrageous color scheme of burgundy and neon-orange, and how he seems like everything about him was the absolute lamest attempt at kid appeal by a room full of suits, and yet he still manages to be endearing.

Got the Astro Patrol. It's not good. My copy in particular has some misaligned pin. It's not much, but it's enough to leave a notable gap in the front half of the shuttle. The front of the shuttle has pretty much nothing to help you lock the parts into place, only a back piece that goes over the legs, but it doesn't do anything, the back is solid but also suffers from a misalignment pins for the wings.

To finish thing off, Phaser can barely stand, while Blast Master can't stand because of his backpack's weight and feet (despite the huge wings, they're not long enough to be at the exact length of the legs, so they don't help), Blast Master also might as well not have leg articulation since the wings block most of it.

The 20 dollar price point was supposed to be the way that we got more accessories though. Like I'm not opposed to situations like Earthrise Prime where the extra cost of a size class jump is used for accessories instead of bulk but they have no incentive to actually do that.

Got doubledealer finally. Goddamn what a floppy fuck. I basically had to dip him into a vat of furniture polish, but now he's pretty solid. He's actually pretty complex for a mainline. I just need his little rectangle buddies now and I'll be all set.
It is weird that like...the one character that isn't aligned with one singular faction didn't get one of those new logos introduced in the same line he came out in, but whatever.
