Never heard of any of these and never done Gundam, but I like fiddling, constructing/deconstructing stuff, and customizing. 30 MM looks like it's pretty good for that and is pretty cheap.
Is that a good place to start? Do I need anything except the sprue cutters?

You'll want cutters and either a good hobby knife or some hobby sand paper, for nub cleanup after cutting parts off the runner. If you want to make them look a bit better without going the full paint route, either get some fine-tipped gundam markers or some modeling acrylics to thin down into a panel wash. You can use them to fill in the panel lines and bring out details of the mold.
And yes, 30MM is basically made for beginners. Parts are specifically arranged on the runners to make them easier to find and the builds are relatively simple.

30 MM feel really cheap even compared to Gundam kits
If you want something cheapish to mess with I'd suggest Glyos (only some of them), Snapships, Mugenbine (if/when you can ever find them in-stock), or Transformers weaponizers/modulators/fossilizers

I'm not really sure what that guy's talking about. I've built six portanovas so far and they all feel pretty standard for gunpla. The lack of fiddly bits is a plus. Keep in mind model kits aren't like toys, and you should be fine.

They almost always look like a blobby and floppy mess of shapes and parts imo. It's pretty rare I see a build that looks cohesive, usually it's just the overall silhouette that looks good.

DHL charges increase according to box size not weight. So the larger the box the more it is. You have to see if AmiAmi is packing efficiently or just wasting space.

To be specific, most air freight services charge based on the larger of actual weight vs volumetric weight. It's 100% because you ordered those plushies. In my experimentation with Mandarake orders during this period, ordering large and lightweight stuff = you're gonna have a bad time. Small, compact stuff is the way to go, even if it's heavier. My shipping pretty much doubled when I ordered a figure with a bigger box, but the same weight as a previous order.

MFT OC Dianaut. It's 38 RMB per figure according to the Chinese POs which is close to how much an official Dianaut would cost. MFT's QC with their KO Dianauts is very random so I'm not sure if it's worth it.

They’re a bitch to assemble, so there’s only so much you can back on labour cost. On the other hand, it’s a completely new mold? So maybe less QC issues due to mold degradation.

My QC issues with their KO dianauts are mostly assembly related, that's why I'm wary about buying their premium ones. Think like 3/40 dianauts I have came broken. It's not a big chance but still.

Pretty much everything is the "budget" option compared to official diaclone product IMHO. I think these are a lot of fun, the dianaut compatibility and modular parts give them a lot more playability than the beastbox line.

In my experience, yes. Even kits that looked like they might be fiddly, unstable messes like the Abyss Crawler are still standing strong and firm on my shelf. These kits have very tight tolerances as per usual for Koto, so trim your nubs well and be cautious if painting.

Search your heart and know that it could never be great again (unless it were done by an unlicensed third party maybe). Playmates mostly makes super shitty, low-effort toys nowadays and the thought of them painstakingly grinding out a mushy 5 poa figure to stick into a completely immobile and equally mushy E-Frame is just painful. Three paint apps. No other accessories. Call it a day.

Saw this yesterday and I think it's one of the coolest things I've seen done with a Power Suit so far. Sometimes MFT's additions just look janky and don't fit in with the Diaclone look, but fuuuuck, they hit it out of the park with this one.

Incidentally, I got this very toy like 5 years ago, MISB, for just a few bucks when I stumbled into a dusty old toy store that had a few sealed Exo-Squad figures lying around. One of the best finds I've ever had.

That's a TakaraTomy design too. MFT's "GFL" series are direct KOs of the Diaclone Combat Chronicle sets which come bundled with Diaclone Reboot books.

The annoying thing about the bike mode is that it's hard to split that front wheel if you want to change it back to the buggy mode.

Because it's a collab project, no reason for the first project to not be based on an item from Toy Notch. Not to mention it's got a fresh new head with moveable jaw, additional weapons, and additional gear. Given that Apollo and Argus have different heads, and even though it isn't technically in the same scale, Krivo here could easily be an Astrobot who decided to leave whatever organization they come from and become a bounty hunter and radish gardener.

Definitely intrigued by these, and they seem like a good value for what was being offered. If I recall there were robot pilots, right? Given how tiny those Frame Arms hands are though, it'd look real small in Krivo's hands, he could probably wrap only 1 or 2 fingers around the handle of it. It does look pretty nice though.

What I mean is this: Is he going to run the kickstarter, produce however many figures are bought, and then never produce them again, or is he going to produce the ones for backers and then use the remaining money to finance the creation of more figures that will be sold online through a more traditional storefront?

One way means we can't get these any other way than to put money down and HOPE they come out and the quality is good. The other means we can wait and see and then buy later if they come out well.

Sounds like the answer is yes, but the newer products will have to abide by certain safety laws, so it's possible that they'll need to be updated. I'm not sure how much sense this makes, if he actually has to get new molds done for these new 3+ versions, that doesn't sound like a feasible idea. Either stick to what he's making now or do the safety testing done beforehand.

ShowZ store has been my go-to for MFT figures, but for the stuff that's sold out I would maybe check ebay and aliexpress. I find the quality not quite at TT's level, but good enough for me.

I like that they're not strictly a a KO company; some of their original designs are really cool and work well with diaclone.

I would say so I think. Some people say that the MFT Powered Suits suffer from mold degradation in terms of joint looseness, but that hasn't personally been my experience after buying like 15-20 of them. They're quite well made for KOs, especially the ones that are actually copied Takara designs. The MFT originals are kind of hit or miss in my opinion, some work pretty well, others just don't fit in with the Diaclone aesthetic at all. Either way though, I love all of mine, they're really nice quality as far as KOs go.

This is my favorite original MFT design. It's just fun and I love the shade of blue, the "monoeye," and the cannon arm.

Here are some examples of the light up feature. Out of four boxes I got two green and two red light up features. Although one of the red ones seems to be dead. I'm not sure if the batteries are dead or there is a dead LED but it is extremely dim.

Overall impressions are pretty good. For 10 bucks you get 2 bots and a light box, which I think is reasonable. The plastic quality is good, a bit soft to prevent kids from snapping things left and right but usable. I would warn you to be careful with them when first inserting or rotating the ball sockets, since some of them are a bit sticky and could, potentially, snap the peg.

In terms of freedom of construction its pretty great. You get a ton of different pieces, all the large parts are covered in attachment points, and every pack you get, even if its a double, just gives you more pieces to play with. And of course the best thing is that the pieces are very general; you don't have a lot of things that have a dedicated function, so the ways you can use them are far more varied.

The major thing I'll warn you about is these are NOT going to be highly posable figures. Even if you really customize your own designs, the fact that everything is ball jointed is gonna inherently limit you to some degree. Not to mention the connections are generally not super strong. They'll hold together fine but they'll easily rotate or bend if you put much pressure on them. Its a kids toy, not a high quality import figure, which the price reflects.

I'd say its worth dropping 10 bucks to buy a 2 pack and see how you feel about them. I like them a lot.

Yeah definitely, for army-building. MFT was selling them at 4 pilots for 45 RMB while RIHIO's are 69 RMB for a pack of 15 pilots, there's no comparison price-wise.

I suppose if you're talking about cons, the biggest would be needing to assemble them yourself and that would be a chore if you're bad at handling teeny tiny parts. I'd argue MFT's QC isn't any better than doing it yourself though.

As solid as you can get for something of their size. You're not gonna break an individual pieces unless you are trying or you have entire live pigs for hands.

>Connections between pieces
This is likely where people had issues. I'd say that in general the connections are strong enough that they won't come apart without you meaning to take them apart. There are a few exceptions with individual part combinations being loose, but overall its fine. However, in terms of the stiffness of the connection, ie how well it resists being flexed, that is variable.

The tolerances for these things match what you'd expect for a 5 dollar us kid's toy. You'll likely get instances of balls and joints that in concert are too loose. And in general they're not going to be getting into crazy poses or holding a lot of weight with any particular joint. There's a reason a lot of the robot designs they provide you with are basically on stilts or have 4 legs to distribute the weight.

I think they hold together acceptably well. They could be tighter, I'd like it if they were just a bit tighter, but they're not a house of cards thats gonna shatter when you look at them wrong. There might be a bit of a learning curve to understand their limits and how to build within them, but I think for the price they are fine. Just don't go in expecting diaclone level quality.

These just turn it in a gaudy fruitcake. I've been baffled before by some of the colour choices by Takara, some of which could be explained as an incentive to buy multiple variations of the same robot to recombine them into something cohesive. But this, to me, is just as camp as christmas.

I know that feeling. The combination of blindbag plus all the unique pieces and sheer degree of modularity is very addicting to me. I keep wanting to buy more and more. I bought my originals through target.com and had them delivered. The more recent ones I just went to target in person. They didn't have a huge number, but they had I think 5 to 8 of each size box? By the way, I think I prefer the 10 dollar medium packs. I bought 2 of the 20 dollar large packs and both seemed to have a few of the smaller detail pieces missing that made building every pictured bot impossible. Never had that issue with the medium packs. Though you can only get motion modules through the large packs, so there's that.

As per >>8485183 Yes it is an official build. However, I believe any bot can come in any box. The box sizes just determine how many bots you get. There are 36 official builds, many of which seem to have unique parts. That one in particular has a bunch of parts that show up elsewhere, but the raptor feet parts seem unique to it.

They for Klikbot, which are quite modular to begin with, but these are blind boxed parts. Comes in this blue as well as a goldish colour. I'd think something pretty cool could be built from these.

I'd certainly like to, but I've never been particularly good at making cool original robots, whether Assemble Borg, or Bionicle, I'm not sure why. But looking at these parts it certainly feels like there's some potential for some interesting things. Hopefully there's an identifier on the blind boxes so people who need specific parts can easily find them.

Green colorways of both MM004/5 are coming out Oct followed by Desert and Blue in Nov.

Something new they're trying out with MM004 and 5 is that all the parts will be pre-cut from the sprues, so they are essentially bionicle now.

I think someone noted earlier(too lazy to check if it was here or in the dedicated thread for that line) that overall the individual pieces are roughly to scale with TMNT figures so probably a bit big for that purpose

I picked up two of these, but I wish they were a bit more army-build-able. The price is just a bit too high, and I wish you could get a two pack. This is fast becoming my favorite new line, especially if mechs are in the cards. Hexa is a bit cheaper though, which is making me lean towards picking some of their robot foot soldiers up to bolster the ranks.

Partially. There are ghost from outer space skull spartans in there making up a fair bit, but those skeletal black tails are definitely Alien parts, as are other pieces like the alien queen heads making up the one on the right's legs. Might just be alien parts actually, I'm not terribly familiar with revoltech alien.

Congrats, friend!
BB's fantastic - just take care with the sliding rings on the forearms as a few people have apparently broken theirs. Both releases are beautiful in hand, so just choose your favourite I love both, but I probably edge towards the white one with its cosmonaut stylings and lady-naut crew. The regular release will match your Destroyer, but there's a unified aesthetic and your shelf will pop better with more diverse colours, IMO.
The Triverse series is excellent, especially if you have a few, one or more verserisers and the extra bullet core set. I hear the secondary market prices are high, but they're doing a new colourway of Tridasher soon. I think the green Tridigger is still fairly available and that thing's stunning in person.

I didn't get an answer for so long I ended up grabbing the black Buffalo, which I wasn't expecting to be as black as it is. All the preview images I saw made it look like more of a dark grey. Not complaining, though. I can give Big Powered matching but hilariously tiny arms, now.
