Well its my own fault really, but I was kind of expecting we'd get another pack with red, black and green by now.

Vignettes are easiest one of my my favorite sets. I'm not aware of any thanksgiving ones for this year, but this one from some time back was nice. I spooked it up a bit by replacing the heads of the kid and dad with the jack-o-lantern minifig heads while using the original minifig heads as part of the "garden". Stuck the yellow stalks on top. I'm going to be combining that with this years haunted hayride set.

I also stocked up on scarecrow heads (I can't remember which set they were from) for swapping out the heads of other figs to create a kind of supernatural invasion theme. Also some of the CMF scarecrows and one of the Batman Scarecrow figs as their leader. I don't give much of a shit about Batman so I'll probably keep some scarecrowed minifigs handy and add use them as minions it would make a handy Ultra Agents villain. Similarly Moltor from series 1 Nexo Knights make good minions for Infearno and if you think about it Hidden Side is a Toxikita fan's dream since it provides normal and gooped up minifigs. Suddenly Tox has a slave abomination harem.

I love this set so much man, never thought I’d see a set that combined my favorite theme (Adventurers) with my favorite ride (Tower of Terror) so perfectly.
I just bought a light kit for it too (originally meant for the Monster Fighters house) so I’m excited to see what it will look like.

Slave 1. Razorcrest is a good not great vehicle with some cool figures. Baby Yoda will come out in another set sooner or later. Carl Weathers I'm not so sure. Maybe order the head because I have a feeling scalpers are charging too much for it. I think the build is fine. Looks nice. But a little boring. Slave 1 is a great build. I think the only real downside is we have had so many slave 1s already. But if you don't already own a Slave 1 then go with that.

Sucks how I can barely find any of the vignettes at my local stores. Maybe the Brickheadz, which I could care less about. One time though I did find two of the valentine sets in the clearance aisle of Walmart. Bought them both. That was a good day.

Never did open them. I haven't needed any outdoor scenes set up, so they've just been held in reserve.

They're both pretty fun to build. I think I enjoyed Slave 1 more because suffers less from "Just repeat these steps but mirrored" in the instruction booklet.

But I built it a while ago so I might be misremembering.

Some less conventional techniques/placement with the Razorcrest too, definite sub-assemblies that had me wondering if they were legal parts usage

Same here. I especially love the indoor scenes although they'd moved on from these. I still love the others, but I did like the cutaways. I keep telling myself one day I'll just order the parts to build them the rest of a house, or, okay, more realistically a cramped apartment not much better than a Creator home. Something, at least.

Porsche 930 I made a couple years ago, meant to be better proportioned (e.g. much smaller) than Speed Champions. Minifig still fits inside comfortably, with a steering wheel, dashboard, and plush leather seats!

To be fair I'm not sure how much of that was actually having a worse story as opposed to the novelty wearing off. Hard to say. The quality was definitely slipping with Ninjago, with some very questionable decisions (as much as I loved the Shark Army goofs), but it's still a shame that the movies are effectively dead.

The last themes that I liked were Elves, Nexo Knights, and The LEGO NINJAGO Movie. The last theme that I bought as many sets as I could at stores was BIONICLE.

I like Studios, Sports, Harry Potter 1-2, and Discovery. Jurassic World gets a pass for keeping dinosaur molds on the shelves. I wish I had bought the Scooby-Doo sets, too.
>What makes a good theme?
It's a combination of factors that make a good theme. The models need to look good. The sets need to come with good pieces. The model should be fun to build and play with. The characters need to be cool. Anything that moves needs to be able to move. Buildings need to have play features inside and outside of them. It doesn't need to be completely original, but it should be a breath of fresh air.
I hate NINJAGO, but it provides us with great sets every once in a while. If 71741 NINJAGO City Gardens turns out to be real, then I'll buy a dozen of them.

I've done more work on it but I'm not at my machine now
The key is to get photo references. Egyptian architecture shares a lot from classical greek, but it has some more distinctive shapes (trapezoidal buildings) and more floral columns that borrow from the nile's plants

I'd personally rate the Townhouse/Pet Store higher then that. While it may not have as complex or unique design and build as the others, that affords it an advantage over them; it make's both massable and customizable.
I bought two of them (would have liked a few more, but they were retiring just as I was getting back into Lego) and converted one of the stores into a News Agents, with a Dentists clinic above it. I then took both the town houses and gave them their own interiors

This is fake. It is VERY clearly a physics simulation of skinned boxes on top of an empty room. First off, EVERY SINGLE box has the exact same glare artifact on the bottom right corner. This is because you only bothered to use one photo of the box in bad lighting.

If you look at the actual regular 70841 set, there is no glare like that printed. Also, considering so many boxes have been there over time, how is it possible that there is not a single dent or crease in ANY of the boxes? Also, there are some areas of the edit that look blatantly fake.

Been wanting to get another long build/bigger set. I’ve got Barracuda Bay, Haunted House, creator Pirate Ship as far as recent bigger sets.

Not my pic put IMO this is good. Small local temple of Sobek like there were dozens of them. Also are you aiming for then-anceint or present day ruins?
For ancient era, remember that these were full of colors, plants, water. Egypt was literally paradise in ancient era, not sand and dust.

300 years ago Egypt was full of grass, plants and trees. Also the Nile was much closer these structures, the best example in Philae temple in Aswan. Green baseplate is pretty much right if the author is aiming for Ancient look. Nowdays it would be sand indeed but back then these areas were full of green.

Is everyone having issues with their B&Ps? I've ordered several during the lockdown and sure they take a long time but the also have consistently been missing parts (or have some extra parts over what I ordered, or parts I never ordered). So far they've fixed them all, but I wonder if eventually they'll tell me I've requested too much or some shit. I've considered just waiting to post B&P however a lot of the new sets, like the hidden side and monkie virus ones, have been VERY generous in making parts and even entire figs available so I can't resist. Not /lg/ but with how few would be interested here, there would be less in pbbg or elsewhere.
Another photo of the Fischer set before I gave it to a friend.
A lot of weird things about this set, the build quality was fantastic for how flimsy and cheap it looked. Literally not a single loose piece in the box. Picked it up from a thrift store where it had obviously been sitting for a while and everything was included. Quite the neat little vehicle build. Would attempt to recreate in LEGO, but the core principals in it's construction, and a lot of the specialized parts I would imagine not to translate easily.
-fully articulated steering (wheels connected via gearing to the steering column)
-the smoothest axles I've felt on a building toy ever
-adorable posable figure
-cool ass crane with a neat locking mechanism on the winch
-sturdy as fuck
Thats mostly all I got to say.

Lego Batman Movie was a great licensed theme because the designers were able to do anything they wanted creatively while using the aesthetics and vehicles and characters of Batman, even the minifig designs are amazing. I'd like to see a new theme that uses that sort of design they used in the Lego movies but it could be something like Classic Lego instead of Batman or whatever

Closest is the current wave of Ninjago. Hidden Side recently released the Mystery Castle set. The theme is more urban fantasy and the castle's architecture is more Gothic than medieval, but MAYBE you could turn it into something suitable.

I really liked 1 ,2 , Batman super funny and full of soul.

Ninjago had cool builds and I liked Jackie Chan, but is brought down a lot by not having fully brick built enviroments and having boring ninjago story and characters.

This. Out of the 8 or 9 main characters in the film, Garmadon and Lloyd are the only two who actually have screen time and characterization. Everyone else is a walking background piece at best .

Why Bricklink youtubers keep ordering these sets? I still don't get the profit. You can credit a lot of that to the design work of the vehicles and figures borrowing from the much larger movie budget's artists.
The Batman and ninjago movie sets were way better than most anything the usual runs have. Though the Lego movie sets were kind of bland imo. But that's just because the source was pretty broad so the sets felt a bit more contrived

This is fake. It is VERY clearly a Stud.IO render of modelled bricks on top of a single color background. First off, EVERY SINGLE piece has the exact same roughness. This is because you only bothered to make one material and just changed the color.

If you look at the actual pieces, their reflectance varies by color. Also, considering so many pieces are used, how is it possible that there is not a single dent or scratch in ANY of the pieces? Also, there are some areas of the edit that look blatantly fake.

Space police have a couple of different variations, the first wave was really red and blue heavy. So the way I'm justifying this is because the space police are a huge organization and vehicles are expensive to produce for them, some of them aren't using the most modern equipment.
That and cockpit pieces are really limited for dark green.

While SP does use red, it looks a lot less like sp when using red.
Regardless I like the grey/black model a lot, and the overall build is very pleasing.

Having lots of parts in your store will get you more sales than just having lots of minifigures. I think the groom and bride were on a combo deal too, so that was saving a few bucks. Also I'm personally ok with people filling there stores with clearance sets and shelf warmers like those brickheadz.

One of the worst cases is when they have a dark minifigure head and they have to print something lighter on it, for example like Mercy, shown above centre from Overwatch 75975 Watchpoint: Gibraltar. Mercy’s face looks a bit pale and grey-looking, and is not as nice as it looks on the box. The reason for this is that the colour applied is not dense enough and the dark colour of the part underneath shines through and makes the face look paler. They tried to improve this but they hit a limit of the technology they were using. So they tried to fix it by adding a white under layer and applying the skin colour twice. Now it’s better, but they’re still not happy with it, and their Materials department is working with ink suppliers and their different inks to come up with something better.

To me that isn't a suitable argument, if the box art and any picture lego puts out has the correct looking colour but everything you buy has janky colours lego should eat the cost of putting out the advatised colours untill they come up with a better solution

I remember some informal Lego stores, one in my province and another in calle or paseo Florida. No idea if they had any affiliation with Lego, but a bulk of their stuff was lego, one having a special display shelf for boxes and another one having the Battle of Metru Nui playset assembled in the middle of the place.
