Yeah I'd say this.

It's a shame too I really enjoyed collecting them with my kid and playing the games... I mean the games weren't super great but it was the thing we did together.

"Toys to life" as a general concept died pretty quickly. The only recent success is amiibos and that's mostly because Nintendo fans are rabid. Starlink failed pretty hard too mostly because no one cared about the game outside of the Star Fox tie in. Even then, most people discovered that you could get basically everything in the digital edition without needing to buy a million toys. Nowadays you can find the Star Fox bundle with the Arwing model for under $30.

Well, amiibo also have kind of a Funko Pop-type "cheap merch of characters that don't have a lot of merch" thing going for them that other toys to life series didn't quite have.
