How durable are the MDs? On Koto's site they look sturdy and matte but in some reviews they seem like their made out of the same frail and glossy plastic that disposable cutlery is made of. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm new to this.

I do this all the time for filling up seams on parts that I don't want to waste time repainting and smoothing the stuff out after it dries takes like, a minute.

Do you have the source of the tutorial of this image?
The putty tutorial is here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E64rsyuTo8 Anonymous
>>8491646 Nah, no source. I just chimed in since I use the spru-putty method all the time.
But yeah, it really is a useful tool to have in your repertoire. For some things normal putties are better, but the real draw of spru-putty is being a time saver. No need to mask and paint a piece to cover up the mismatching putty if you just make the spru-putty from whatever runner the piece in question came from. If you try it out just make sure you use the appropriate plastic cement to melt the plastic. For example- make sure the cement you're using is actually rated for ABS (like plastruct bondene or something) in the event you're trying to make putty out of ABS, otherwise you'll just be staring at a bottle of cut up spru sitting in cement and not melting.

Finished building MD Ayaka. She was a lot better than I expected. Shield and body does lack a lot of color separation, but other than that, it's pretty good. (Especially the missile packs and legs) Joints are also better than before. The body joint became thicker so it's more stronger and some of the joints are now looser so not much sanding needed. Hair joint is a bit too loose tho. Keeps falling off.

I've ended up with a bunch of duplicate FAGs over time, either through buying lots, or picking up extras that I was planning to use for customs but never got around to. Now I'm moving soon, and I'm looking to get rid of my extras. I tried selling them locally, but I didn't get any bites. My options left are sell them to a local hobby store for pennies on the dollar, or try to sell them online and have to deal with shipping. >>8498790 I remember the guide you were talking about (and I also know I've seen Japanese builders on twitters post step-by-step guides), but I couldn't find it.
I've tried it before though and it's not actually that hard. The particular method just depends on the type of skirt you want. Skirts are basically just made up of a bunch of rectangular pla plate strips. Start with a thin circle piece that'll rest on the waist like a belt, then space out some strips around it, kind of like flower petals (at whichever angle you're going for), and then angle the rectangular pieces between each "petal" till you have pleats that are however pronounced you want. Wish I could just show you a picture, but I'm hoping this at least gives you a little boost in visualizing the process.
Below isn't really a perfect way to visualize it, but imagine the top of the v's are flush with the minus signs. You're basically just making that repeating trapazoid shape around the circular belt piece over and over.

Quoted By:
>>8498913 That's just the basic gist of it though. There's myriad ways to customize the basic structure from there. Like if you want more rounded pleats you just bend the "petal" strips so they've got a rounded arch to them instead of being flat.

Partly related, but I just got my Baihu in the mail, and I noticed the printed eyes on mine are actually smaller than they are in the promo pics. Is this a new change or did they always look like this? Mine was purchased recently and also came with the cloth mask, so I'm assuming this was a running change they made. The included waterslide eyes are actually bigger than the printed ones are.

Question for anyone who has built Hresvelgr Ater: Do you know if the holographic finish on the clear parts is sprayed on, or is it mixed in with the plastic itself? I wanted to clean the nubs off these parts with sanding pads/polishing compound, but I'm afraid that might ruin the effect.
Anonymous
>>8503547 Try it on the runner and report back. I seem to recall hearing that they had to remake some molds to allow for the clear parts to look like that (notice that Bikiniburger lacks the cool clear parts) so it might've been added as a finish in the molding process.
Anonymous
>>8503547 I don't recall if it was a coating or mixed into the plastic, but I messed up one of the pieces a while back when trying to clean the nubs way too hard. Just cut into the runner really quick to make sure. Though, the thing is that it's still clear plastic, so even if the effect is inside of the plastic you can still leave behind an ugly and obvious dull spot from a shoddy sanding job.
Just go at it VERY carefully. Very slowly.

>>8503730 The stuff I used is about .25mm including the backing foil, the main challenge is getting a nice clean cut along the edges as it's a bit stretchy, since it's meant to be wrapped around curved headlights.

>>8504886 Yeah, and there are a few other inconsistences. If I'm wrong, please, someone explain how it works.
For example, we've got two Carbonias, the VI-Carbonia Adamas and the VI-Carbonia Lonsdaleite. They don't seem to be the same character... But then we have LXXVIII-Platinum, no second name.
Maybe there is one "VI-Carbonia" out there? Without a second name?
What is VI-Carbonia? The armor? Maybe the second name is the Weapon/accessory set?
If so, why doesn't Platinum have a second name?
Anonymous
>>8506066 I gave some thought, since Adamas and Lonsdaleite are two forms of diamond, I guess the idea here is to base their names on mineral formations?
So the VI- will always repeat if there is a carbon element in the molecule they are based the names on.
So XCIX-albere and C-efer probably total 99 and 100 if you count all the different atoms in the formation of that molecule. Just like a diamond is made of carbon (6).

>>8507143 >>8507148 Are they only filled with "half" a fragment case for each element? If that's so it explain why they are not adults.
By that logic the same would happen to the cats, they are not adults because their fragment case is small.
Still Platinum's and Lonsdaleite's names shouldn't be like that, because all the other names are somewhat changed from their chemical counterparts, but Platinum and Lonsdaleite are in their original chemistry names..
In a "standardized" system Carbonia's name should have been Carbon Adamantine, not Carbonia Adamas, for example.
