I like this style of robot, where the surface is very clean but then transform and have a bunch of mechanical limbs and stuff under the surface.
Honestly though everything they showed off looked good to me aside from the turtle and human but that's just personal preference.

You might be SOL for now. The scalper/scammer market is even harder to figure out than Tmall.

On the bright side, 52toys usually reserves some number of the limited items for physical sales at international conventions (Japan and USA) so maybe you could wait for trump/biden to solve the 'rona.

So I finally got around to opening up my darkwave, and it looks like the little grey button on his belly you use to push out the cannons is on backwards. Normally wouldn't be a problem, but the bit his head tucks into faces backwards, so he can't transform. Is that a common thing on the mold? I own at least one of most of the molds, and this is the first time I've run into an assembly error.

Code 3 (top half) is a deepsea research vehicle with tiny robotic arms. Code 4 (bottom half) is an underwater exploration sub. Images will be released earliest end of this week I reckon. As usual I'll post them on TFW or IG.

I tried flexing the body apart enough to get the button out, but it looks like it's glued at the top. Might have to break it and reglue it, cuase I got it from ebay and it's unlikely I'm going to get anything out of my replacement request.

No, if you must buy from a Chinese webstore, you will only find these on Tmall (which requires a forwarder). You can also just buy them off Amazon or BBTS, but releases take longer to reach there obviously.

Secured a Beludes for myself. Can't wait to add it to the collection. I need to take pictures of everything again. I'm missing some of the super rare stuff from the original run like the mostly white Dio from Designer Con and the green Dio, but its a pretty darn complete collection considering I live in the West. Its been a real learning experience navigating Taobao over the last couple years and even going to second hand sources to get certain figures. As a collector it'll always hurt that there are figures in the line that I'll never be able to find that I might be able to get my hands on if I could actually dig around in figure and collector shops in China itself, but I do my best.

None intentionally designed afaik. For Darkwave, the space under the flippers is gappy in cube mode and you can sorta chuck its squid gun in there, not sure if that works for Stargazer. The 52toys official transformation video (from their store page) chucks the gun in that little space in front of the storage box, beside the hinge.

Regional pricing (Mainland China has lower MSRPs for everything) + Shipping fees not included.

Taobao/Tmall shops mostly ship within China only so you need to use proxy/agent/forwarder.

As someone who regularly does the forwarder thing, the savings pretty much comes out to nothing once you've paid for international shipping + the proxy's fees. Use Tmall if you need to get something limited edition, or sold out in US shops, or if you absolutely need to get the newest releases ASAP. Otherwise, you aren't saving any money vs. just buying them from domestic shops.

Looks like DeepOne is up for pre-sale, although they're doing a new deposit type system to put a down payment on it. Down payment is locked behind this AliPay 6 digit code that I've never set up I believe, tried resetting it but after entering the code sent to my phone to reset and make a new 6 digit code it said I had to reauthenticate for some reason then that option to send the code to my phone went away. Anybody experience this and know how to properly reset the 6 digit code as an English speaker? Would hate to lose out on any preorder bonus paraweapon stuff if there is any just because I don't speak the language the site is natively in

Personally I would prefer Tukuru to be available in both plastic and die-cast so that I can just grab the plastic ones to integrate better in my 'non-Transformers transforming" 'bot collection, but the die-casting kinda has it's own appeal.

I'm super conflicted on it. On one hand it's like 230 USD but on the other I've been using tmall for all my purchases so I know how to use the middleman system. The Membership card will come with a code, you need to use the BeastBox WeChat app to activate the membership/subscription with this code. The address/dispatch/tracking may be managed from that app, if that's the case it'll make things extra complicated since it's unrelated to the Taobao/Tmall system (and your forwarder may not deal with anything off that site)

I don't recall the specific forwarder I use, I usually just wait a couple of days and choose the merge/consolidation thing on TaoBao and that'll take care of the forwarding for me after my packages reach the storage facility. This is basically the issue. I'd gladly pay someone like 50 bucks or so to set the thing up for me, but I have no idea how to use any of that crap, can't read chinese and don't really want to struggle through it all and figure out how to coordinate it with proxies, etc.

That's the officially-designated taobao forwarder for your region. They are the cheapest but they are also no-frills, it's usually hard to get their CS to do anything outside the normal, automated flow of goods. There's pretty much no way you're going set up this subscription with them.

It took me 40 minutes to transform the Alien Queen blind, for the first time... half of that was on trying to figure out how to collapse the tail, the other half was because I bent the neck hinge the wrong way. Overall I'm satisfied with it, it does look like a cube that HR Giger would've drawn, if he drew a cube.

God, sounds like a nightmare...I tried to do that with the standard xeno because I lost the instructions and I just couldn't get it right. I'd get like 80% of the way there and things just weren't lining up right. I eventually had to ask someone to scan their instructions for me so I could do it right.

It's still a cool figure, but I have PTSD and it's probably my least enjoyable BB to pick up and transform.

I'm laughing imagining someone trying to figure the alien out without instructions it would be nearly impossible. I had to watch a video and I had the instructions. Once you learn it its pretty nifty how it just tightens up into a cube once you figure out how everything fits together.

Dio/Ghostdog 1.5 has 3mm ports all over, redesigned hands (that can hold 3mm pegs flimsily) and a Trilobite buddy that turns into a turret and also covers this empty space in cube mode.

The Heavy Armor addon was released months ago and pads Dio's 4cm cube mode into a 5cm cube so you can fit it in a standard Storage Box. It needs the 1.5's 3mm ports to work.

I've been wanting to get back into the line, but just haven't. Yesterday I decided to dive back in. I know ordering from BBTS is bush league, but it's easiest for me.

I just couldn't resist stargazer and darkwave, they look so much like Zoids. Ironclaw, too. I like a lot of the newer molds (croc, tiger, lion, shark), but I think I'll wait for other colors. I'm not really feeling the triceratops, the rhino, or hippo, though.

They've been out of stock everywhere for ages, it feels like. I had to hunt down a listing on Taobao that was overcharging for them, and even then they only had like two in stock (which I bought both of). They also apparently don't come with the wheeled carts for Dios, which is a bummer.

Also tried contacting customer service but no email response and phone goes straight to their automated voicemail. I ordered the white tiger and red hippo yesterday but I'm probably going to end up getting the white rhino and light blue penguins too.

Jesu received my first BeastBoxes ever. Ghostdog, Sonic Ripple, Echno Blaster and Space Anthem.

And GOD DAMN, these things are way bigger than i expected. Even having watched tons of unboxings and review videos, never really got the right dimensions in my mind. Ghostdog size was kinda what i was expecting maybe. Crazy!

Love them all though, really well made and beautifull toys!

I have been trying to get them from BBTS for some time now, but had some issues. But sometime ago they got some BBs in stock and I got them.

I only really the spider now, and my dragon is pre ordered. I want one of the big cats bug don’t really like how they are kinda bulky. I like the looks of the upcoming wolf(?) they showed at some con.

Also will for sure get the Mantis and maybe a Beetle.

Are the hippo and rhino worth getting? They don't really grab me the way most of the molds do, but the zoo decos are probably my favorite versions of them so far. Definitely gonna get the white zoo tiger I think.

Do you not know? 52toys has also been making gatcha/lootbox/blindbox collectibles (randomly) sold at these vending machines. They've been doing it for almost as long as they've been making Beast Box toys.

That black dragon exclusive isn't gatcha though, no idea why they are even putting it on that shopfront. Guess it's to cross-promote that side of the business.

The box mode was designed to accommodate the Lion's mane and pencil missiles, so when you remove the name and change the missiles to less massive wings for the tiger, it looks and feels like an obvious downgrade, with a gappy box mode and rather hollow beast mode. The lack of a left/right motion on the head is also a consequence of the lion's mane.

You can also tell that it's an earlier, Delta/Moma/Jojo period design because the parts don't really tab together to lock the box mode.

There's also this weird tab on the jaw's hinge that prevents the mouth from opening, you need to carefully pry open the glued head and shave off that tab.

Just got my Chinese dragon.
The colour is fine for me and I really love the design, however the whole body is made with some light, flimsy cheap plastic, makes it really unpleasant to play around with, unlike the old solid beastbox.

It's not a live stream, it's weekly written posts by a staff member on their bilibili's activities page. They sometimes do stream for some sneaky reveals but it's on WeChat's streaming service, which I don't use myself.

I feel like part of the reason it weighs so little is because it's mostly hollow. It's basically just a Long hollow tube, unlike the other figures which tend to be denser because of their transformation.

The interesting thing bout the beetle's design is that the entire head right up to the horn hinge splits, but the horn itself doesn't. Will be interesting to see how it folds up.

All the zoo exclusives I wanted have come in.
This is my first time owning the tiger and penguin molds, they're both pretty good and penguins are way more fun than I expected (though I wish the tiger had head movement).
I hope they so more like this, I'd like to see a repaint of the panda mold and alligator.
