In my experience it's only a few dollars more than EMS, and just as fast, or faster. YMMV depending on a number of factors.

I'm cheap, and it isn't even that I can't afford it, I just don't like paying more than I feel is worth it, and as is I can't tell you the last Japanese import that I bought at full price (so excluding discounted items or from stores like Mandarake) that I felt was worth the money (last import that I felt was absolutely worth the money was the 2 Astrobots). Only SAL for me.

I live in the midwest and DHL tends to be amazing. Shows up lightning fast and usually barely more expensive than EMS, just gotta be careful with big orders because their prices are based on package size instead of weight.

A ripoff if you're not living in the US. In most cases the price ends up being 1/3 to 1/2 the item cost for me which is why I never use it.

It can get pricey quick but it's quick as lightning and good customer service. I will say though they did lose a package of mine ... I got a refund but by the time I got it the figure was almost 2 times what I played for it so I just put it towards something else

DHL is fast as shit, but may fuck you with custom fees outside of the US. How much it costs will depend on if who you're ordering from has a contract with DHL.

I just delt with dhl today.
Noticed they had my address wrong when I got tracking.I called and had it corrected also changed that I had to sign for package.
I see dhl van pull up tonight across the street guy gets out with package and starts walking down the street.
I go to the door and tell him over here. He hands me the package and sure enough wrong address on package.
Other than that fast shipping and lady on the phone said if you agree to not sign for the package and your not home the driver will try and hide that shit so it won't get stolen then take a picture of it so you can look it up on your tracking and see where he hid it.

I recently shipped two items from completely different Japanese sites. But in my emails, both sites independently provided the exact same waybill number to me. I don't even know how that would be possible, unless DHL has some weird method of gathering up all the mail they find for one person and packing them together. Anyone know what happened here?
