Its fine, bunch of us bought the bootleg here last time. Flames are sticky, wings are fragile, otherwise just lower quality plsstic and slightly worse paint but for 20€ its not bad.

Late Tomy was amazing, WCT still needs to get on that level. (Hopefully Jazwares will help with that)
But they are making intetesting pokemon, and i love the 3 Epic Size toys theyve done sofar (really wish theyd make more of these, a lot of potential)
I hate some of their gimmic toys kinda ruining a few mobs for me, yet others i love.
Just globally the distribution for wct is garbage, some areas of the world dont see specific figures or very late? It all gets scalped to hell and theres no real release windows announced. (Ig we can check HEO site for europe since some toys appear there first)

I don't know if this counts as a toy, but I nabbed this set of pokemon pez at five below the other day (not my pic, but same pez) and got interested in knowing how many pokemon pez have been made over the years.

I feel like i'm the only one here with d artz venusaur and that actually likes it.

Charizard is a worse release than blastoise imo.

It all comes down to effect parts since blastoise and charizard are built almost the same. They're both chunky with limited leg and arm articulation. Charizard has better articulation than blastoise, but its effects are kinda random. Choosing flare blitz over flamethrower or fire spin seems like the wrong move. Blastoise has the iconic hydro pump coming out of its canons and its instantly recognizable.

Charizard does beat venusaur though, even though venusaurs vinewhip is better

Id have liked it, but its to expensive for what id get if i bought one, then found its, pretty small. The wct is proper size and affordable/accesable.

Was kind if waiting to see if they were gonna do shf Venusaur, but that ship seems to be sibking since wct ones big and affordable.

I do agree flareblitz was a weird choice, but the charizard gets way more poses in use then blastoise, i do love my shf blastoise.

im thinking of getting the blastoise. it came out last year so it's not too expensive, but old enough where its sold out at retail everywhere.

I see it on ebay and almost all the sellers are from Japan using generic stock photos. are these legit(aka not bootlegs)? as long as it's not China or some 2nd/3rd world country should be fine right?

At the time of release, people liked D-Arts Venusaur for everything but the size. Looked good and had the most range of motion of the three starters despite being a heavy quadruped. You can do a freakin' handstand with the thing. Good toy, but the size wasn't for everybody. I'm okay with it personally, because my limited collection space for Pokemon right now is filling up with so many Pokemon already. Just happy it's at least bigger than my Ivysaur and Bulbasaur.

whats a good Mewtwo right now?

I'm looking and it looks like theres WCT, Tomy, Figuarts. Any others? Figuarts I'm sure is obviously the best, but is it that much better than the others to justify the price point? Basically asking which one is the best per price and that you guys all like/have.

I think the articulated Tomy one was honestly solid enough. Far from perfect but it did most of what you needed it to do. And for $10-15 or whatever it was at the time, it felt worth it to me.

Agreed. Go with the articulated TOMY one (you can still find it for around $15 on Ebay) unless the extra articulation of the Figuarts is worth the higher price (usually around $75). They're virtually the same size.

Does anyone remember or have a screenshot of the next upcoming WCT/Jazwares releases? I forgot when the pre-orders on those international sates were dated for.

-The next 2-3" battle pack wave had Espeon, Umbreon, Lucario, Riolu, Zorua, etc.

-The next 4" wave had Arcanine and Zoroark I believe.

thanks guys looked into all your suggestions. I'll keep my eye out for the figuarts. I don't think it's worth the 80+ I see it for on ebay but if I can find it closer to 50 like this fella says >>8504980 or at least under 70 counting shipping I will go for it.

if i'm unable to find it I think I'll cope with the World Scale Mewtwo since it looks pretty good for being cheap/new so I'll probably get that one if thats the case. no rush here though.

I don't mind the size decrease THAT much because I think Mewtwos "canon size" is too large anyway. I don't like having him tower over Charizard/Blastoise for example. The tail is kind of ugly too with all the overarticulation. but of course I will choose that one if I can without spending an arm or a leg.

I'm more worried about finding these waves than other waves. Did anyone else's Targets replace half of the WCT Pokemon shelf space with cards? Mine all just have one peg for the 2/3" battle packs and the Clip & Go Pokeballs. Not any space for the 4.5" Feature line or 12" Epic figures...

HOPEFULLY, please do note these are europe/UKs releasedates and im not sure if the USA will get them around the same time. we can certainly hope so.

my toystores msotly sel cards and plush, but i hardly find the toys, the battle 4.5 line is also been missing in the one chain that sells the 12"line. still no aerodactyl for me and on a local site where i foudn the early garchomp its 2x mrsp. so im a bit salty

I got scale world Inceleon in the mail. Sort of disappointed. It feels pretty cheap, the whole figure is made out of that cheap bendy plastic. The paint job is also chalky looking and fades in at some spots. It's not horrible and it'll do the job for me, but for the price its a ripoff. WCT are better made and cheaper.

Steven and Leon are definitely popular enough, but probably not Gold. The two subway bosses have much more of a following too. He'd be cool for recreating the VS Red moment, but otherwise he doesn't stand out any more than other male characters, which are never going to be as popular as the girls. If we're going back to old trainers, then Green/Leaf, May, Dawn, Hilda, Rosa and Serena are all much higher on the totem pole than Gold is.

they scale well with eachother in photos, but in person they are small as fuck which would make them look less impressive to me. I'd rather have bigger figures, but less characters(favorites). dont need the whole pokedex.

$800 for Giovanni/Lapras/Nidoqueen actually isn't that bad of a deal for what they normally go for on the secondary market now. Most sales are $900+. Scale World is just too expensive to get into if you want to collect the whole line at this point. So many releases are fucking expensive for no reason and exclusive ones like the Giovanni set are very difficult to find now.

The death stranding dude is not famous, Kojima is famous, and thats why Sam is getting a figma, but it has nothing to do with his popularity.
Same with Raihan. He isnt popular, there was never any push or fanfare for him leading up to SWSH's release and he wasnt popular even aftwr SWSH dropped. Nintendo probably specifically asked for Raihan to be made, not for any reason besides their personal wishes. Either that or Good Smile chose raihan for an out of nowhere figure, like Sam, or the sekiro guy.
Seems like Good Smile makes figmas based off of.. well i dunno. But it doesnt seem like they always make their picks due to popularity.

Look at the amount of fanart for him. Look at merchandise sales for him. Just scroll up and see how many plushies he's sold compared to any other character.

I'd still argue that his Figma likely won't sell as well as Marnie or Gloria, simply because the people who like Raihan are less likely to buy expensive figures, but to say he's not popular is insane.

Also they were releasing these on P-bandai before the line was even fully established. I think preorders for the first few exclusives were closed online before they even had the first wave on shelves. Total bullshit.

I know they have to reprint eventually because there is no way ultra popular Pokemon like Lapras or Mimikyuu will have a single run, but I hate that they won't just be honest about their plans.

Also, i don't want figma of any of these one dimensional characters. All the pokemon characters are written poorly. The only characters i liked were the battle frontier brains because everyone except brandon and nolan was extremely rude.

I liked the smugness of these characters as well as nolan and brandon trying to be inspiring figures too you, and i love the idea of scott only inviting you to make money off the frontier. These are actual characters.

WCT has been pretty good with Eeveelutions so far, coming from an owner of the Tomy's first trio. Tomy Jolteon has a bit of a derpy face and and I prefer WCT Vaporeon's headsculpt over Tomy's with the big forehead. I'm willing to see how WCT Umbreon and Espeon are, especially given how Tomy's offerings were the weakest of their Eeveelutions in my opinion. Those heads were pretty damn wonky. Such a contrast to have seen them in that three pack with Sylveon which I thought was pretty much perfect.

I hope they get to do Leafeon and Glaceon, unlike Tomy who didn't get the chance to release theirs.

I don't own both, anon. I've just seen the WCT ones in stores every now and again, noting the differences in my head. Don't see them as being so much better they should replace Tomy's, but they're pretty good for those who missed out on the Tomy ones. At least in terms of sculpt. Tomy's been better in controlling paint qc, though the Eeveelutions don't have many places to paint considering you produced a lot of their body parts in colored plastic.

The quality argument hardly holds true when it's so inconsistent, you're only paying the premium for the uniform scale and not much else. I totally get wanting properly scaled toys but with this franchise pursuing scale is always going to be a losing battle. Neither the games nor the anime particularly respect size accuracy and the only toyline that's all about size accuracy demands an obscene tax for it. It's just not worth it.

I was only correcting the notion that the Giovanni set itself was going for 2k, which would be ridiculous even by after market standards. A P-Bandai release launched at $100 and inflated by 5-7 times is within the normal range of aftermarket rates.

The series is neat, don't get me wrong, but the aftermarket prices are just stupid, and these realistically shouldn't cost nearly as much as they do. These are candy toys, at the end of the day, 3 of these small ones should cost maybe 500yen, and with paint quality I'd expect from candy toys.

1/40 was a weird choice of scale, it's like they were only concerned about eventually producing Wailord and fuck everything else. The line didn't need to be so tiny, Scale World is twice as big and even then many Pokémon suffer the lack of details from being too small. It's actually impressive Zukans look as good as they do at that scale but they'd benefit a lot from being at least a little bigger.

My thoughts---- Yay Leafeon and Glaceon! Inteleon will be too small in the 4.5" wave, but shoving him in there makes me think they've got Rillaboom planned for the Epic scale wave next year. The bases are worse than amiibo. They aren't even all the same color or anything. Why is Butterfree the only one with a bright green base? The fuck?
Bases ruin the line. Imagine trying to pose these figures in any way other than what is pictured right here, all lined up. There's no way you could pose them all together like I do with my Scale World collection.

I just checked. You were right. Solgaleo/Lunala were 2018, Gyarads/Dragonite were 2019, and just Venusaur was this year. Hopefully they do two new Epic Scale figures next year. It'll be a long wait regardless. No listings for any new figures in that scale have shown up for anything prior to July 2020.

The main sets are widely available like Kanto 1 and 2 but most others rise in price, double in price at least.
I was going to buy like 5 Dragonite sets and make like $50-100 off each but honestly I'm tired of ebay at the moment.

Personally I'd avoid picking up any figure that doesn't have mass nostalgia appeal. People will pay out the ass for gens 1-2 and maybe 3 but you're not going to see the same dedication for new stuff. I do think the larger general availability 20-40 dollar pieces like Charizard will get more expensive for sure too.

It's the price list on the Japanese pokemon center right now.

I'm not sperging out, Gloria is not my waifu or anything. My flabbers are just gasted at the price hike when I want to support the line, compared to Selene who came with the same set of things. It's an exclusive to the PKMN centers, so it won't show up on Ami.

It's been like this for almost every Nendo and figma they've made for the franchise, I think. It's probably the Pokemon Company wanting to make it exclusive to Nips, a few asian countries and then eventually America, although I don't know why.

Yeah the US Pokemon Center will get them eventually, but it'll probably be a few months. Alternatively, wait until they're in-stock on Amazon JP and see if the shipping price goes down any. Sometimes pre-orders have crazy high shipping costs for some reason.

The pegged ones, yes, however some can't stand on their own because of dynamic poses. Very small Pokemon (like Pichu) had either a sculpted-on base.

Some zukan were in "special" sets with more intricate bases

I really miss zukan because they made Pokemon by evolution line, and not just "the popular" ones. Scale world already feels like they're only going to end up with maybe a fifth of the dex before abandonment.

High detail, small-scale figures for EVERY 4th gen Pokemon and most of gen 5. For only 300-500 yen a capsule. Some with fun sculpted bases or stands that can combine.

i liked zukan myself since they worked as toys for my 1/12 and there was a very wide range of pokemon with their whole evolution line.
wich for day to day items 1/12 is scale i personally colect at.

Got this Polygon charizard today and am really impressed by it. It's got a lot of size in terms of height and wingspan.scales a lot better with 1/12 than the manlet figuarts. some people might not like the style of it, but I think it looks rad. really catches my eye from across the room.

I got it on BBTS. cost around $62 dollars after shipping/tax. I see it on mandarake right now for $3,500 yen($33), but who knows how much they'll charge for shipping. the box it comes in is kind of unnecessarily big. the biggest minus is definitely the heads Range of motion. he can't look down or to his right.

t. Newfag that started collecting digimon and pokémon toys/figures a couple weeks ago. I’m starting out by just trying to get one of each of my childhood favorites. Luckily I only give a shit about the first two generations. As a side note, Misty and Jessie imprinted on me as a young impressionable boy that crop tops are the sexiest things a women can wear.
I've focused on Re-ment terrariums, Scale world, Megahouse G.E.M., WCT, and Pokémon Center Gallery DX figures.
Pretty much the only pokémon I'm still waiting for are the upcoming Vaporeon and Dewgong re-ment figures, and then
Arcanine, Zapdos, Scyther, Cloyster, Buterfree, Omanyte, Ninetales, Geodude, Alakazam, and Mantine. Also, if for some reason I can ever find the Entei Scale world alone, I would probably buy that, and maybe some other improvements down the line.
Also please forgive the shitty cluttered display, organization, my lack of autism about scaling, and blogposting.

I wouldn't buy something every month. Its only when WCT figures or figma/nendoroids are released, that I want to add to my collection. I focus on 1/12th scale to go with the figma, and mostly the starter families and some specific Mons that I like. So it's a once in a blue moon occasion. In the meantime I like finding effects pieces that I think would enhance my setups too.

Lately I've been spending too much, mostly as retail therapy due to Covid anxiety. I try to keep it to:
~15 to put towards the next wave of Scale World
~ 50 on Zukan
~ 20 on Pokemon Kid figures, second-hand stores or whatever YAJ crap I impulse buy

I live in Japan so my spending is higher due to opportunity cost. I am trying to grab as many cheap Zukan as I can before I go back to the US. A Zukan without its base is so much cheaper here- I got a Milotic for 20 bucks and Lapras for 25.

This is most of my small collection of Zukan I've gotten here. The Dragonite line was only 100 yen at a book off; I was physically trembling when I bought it lol.
