the neca mirage tmnt from 2008 were perfect - perfect sculpts, perfect paint apps. then things started going downhill. compare the 2008 turtles to the 2008 shredder that got released like a decade late (with 4H sculpt but nu-NECA paint). the sculpt on him was rad, but the paint apps were overly simplistic and the lines were too chunky.
and then now, compare the toon line to the 2008 mirage line. the sculpts are mostly bad. look at the april, look at the rock soldiers. they look like they're made out of playdoh. almost every figure in the line is almost entirely borrowed parts. the fucking paint apps are super messy and careless - the linework is rushed, WAY too thick, and not even consistent. the lines are shaky and vary in width. it's a mess.
and then...the worst yet: the loot crate shredder. how to take a solid sculpt and utterly desecrate it with the worst paint job i've ever seen in my life. it's literally as if a child with a sharpie went wild on it. absolutely AWFUL. how anyone could allow this released is an absolute mystery. 4H would not have allowed it.
NECA's TMNT line, as much as i own and even enjoy some of the new flawed fred wolf figures, is no where near the level of quality it had in 2008 when 4H was on the line. no where near.
i hope you can afford to buy more than one toy a year soon so you can stop feeling the need to defend it so desperately.
