Funko pops look really lame, take up near every conceivable IP possible while taking up vast amounts of store space, can't really be played with or customized in any way, and are not part and parcel of a system that allows you to build things which are not minifigs.

Big difference is that funko's template was dogshit from the get-go because it's going for chibi proportions with the awful aesthetic of those character popsicles you would get from ice cream vendors that barely looked like the characters they were supposed to represent, but without unintentional hilariously bad quality that made those charming.

It's soulless garbage pumped out ad nauseum to appeal to the lowest common denominator of milquetoast wannabe-geek normies who need to signal to everyone around them that they like the most surface-level media.

Also, I'm probably gonna forget something, but you're just gonna gloss over the fact that tecnhic figures, belville, Jack Stone, and mini dolls existed? The fact is that they HAVE deviated from the original minifigure design, but it's the one that stood the test of time.
