>>8523199>Newage are stuck circling the drain with releasing the same characters over and over againMaybe early on but recently, they've been choosing to announce the repaints pretty much immediately, with all of them being announced by the time the time any of the versions of that mold actually release. They did it with Soundwave, Megatron, Reflector, and the Seekers so it's pretty safe to say they plan to continue that trend going forward. It's honestly a smart choice too. Repaints are a cheap way to get some more mileage out of a mold for more profit and more money they can use to fund the next project. A lot of companies will hold off on announcing them until after the base version drops which can potentially benefit them by making folks double dip if they buy the first one, not expecting the version they really want to ever happen but considering how expensive 3p can be, collectors who are willing to do that twice are in the minority and most folks will just say "well, I wish this was announced before I bought in but too late now". They'll lose out on those double dips, however, at the same time, there are folks who will hold off buying in because they expect/hope for a particular repaint. Announcing all versions of the mold from the start lets them grab those customers right away. Likewise, there's the customers who love having multiple versions so this lets them grab those customers straight away as well. This was especially beneficial for them in the case of the Seekers because that's a common group of characters where collectors are compelled to own more than one. Ultimately though, it amounts to higher returns from the get go when they do a new mold and the fact that they offer so many choices right away harbors some good will with their customers which also helps with good word of mouth.
But yeah, they aren't just re-releasing the same characters over and over, they're announcing all of the variants from the start and then moving on to the next project.
