They made everything already in 1:18 Joe, there's basically nowhere else to go with it. It's like complaining about how they abandoned 12-inch figures in favor of 3.75. 12-inch had it's time, and so did 3.75. It's now time for something new. As for other lines, Star Wars TVC has been starting to come back; the figures are coming out at a trickle right now, but they seem to be pumping out a lot of Mandalorian stuff lately, and multiple play-sets. The only complaints anyone has is kvetching over the prices.

like with any large line, especially with a relatively high budget, you're going to end up with a lot of good figures.
The ratio of bad and good figures depends on opinion, but i lean toward there being mostly good figures.

Bad thing about the pre-25th line is that a lot of figures don't match well with modern toys. So their style fits within their own line, but that's it. The guns, armor, ammo, helmets, vests, etc etc however... unf. So many great accessory pieces were made for the GI Joe Vs Cobra toylines. Vehicles were weird, but that's always been a GI Joe thing.

I really really really really like this Snake Eyes still, which is basically a proto-25th figure that came out in the Venom Vs Valor waves.

Nah, 3.75 is the superior figure scale. It fits in your hand easily and you can actually play with it and it has vehicles with it. 6 inch shit is oversized and hard to play with, plus doesnt have vehicles

I wonder if this was on purpose? You could see from a mile away they were no where close to having a full line ready, the absolute stumble on the Ebay exclusives being so short stocked, on top making the first appearance of several characters said Ebay exclusives, the pathetic follow up that is wave 2, little to no talk of future figures, few accessories, not a single word on vehicles besides the mythic bike. I have a hard time not seeing them laying this out to die.

I'm pretty sure its mainly because Covid killed half the planned releases. We were supposed to be getting movie figures in these waves, and they've been held back. That and Hasbro was probably being extra cautious and only producing low numbers due to lack of faith in the product.

Actually Roadblock was persona nongrata for AGES, due to Hasbro temporarily losing the rights to the name. For the bulk of the 00s and 10s, they kept shoving Heavy Duty down EVERYONE'S throat to the point that other black Joes like Stalker and Alpine were ignored alongside Roadblock due to a suit at Hasbro bring a big fan of the character.

They're fun but their hips seem a bit loose? Maybe I'm just not used to drop down hips but they seem a bit hard to stand.
Also the holster on the back isn't big enough to fit the axes in with stretching it so I only put the small cliff climbing things in them.

In all honesty, I don’t mind him being half Asian, full Asian, black, white, Native American, whatever else. It’s not like we ever get to see his face many times, and he doesn’t really talk any. The only time we might see his face now is if it’s a flash back, same for his voice. The only time they show his skin or hair now is if he received some kind of injury where his suit gets sort of messed up. His story has already been changed so many times now, phasing out that he used to be a Vietnam veteran, because that would make him too old now (it still works for characters like Deathstroke, because he physically ages at a slower rate than most humans, so he could be in his 60s, 70s, or 80s, and still be in his prime, minus the silver fox face and hair).

Before I really got into the GI Joe story (those mostly outdated comics with tons of retcons, because Larry Hama said he’d only write one page at a time, and not have any sort of “this character is actually dead-dead” chart. Not bashing, some of his stories were pretty cool, but retcons, in general, unless for the sake of making a story even better, usually suck) I actually thought Snake-Eyes was already Asian. That also could be because in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, GI Joe didn’t really focus on older character backstories, unless it was to retcon something, or suddenly bring up a “never before seen detail of their past” to try and make that some kind of selling point, or a story point to carry the story along.

I mean, Snake-Eyes, from what we see of him, is mostly just the suit, anyways. He had an interesting backstory, but since he never really had a real name to differentiate him from his suit (like Batman and Bruce Wayne), his costumed appearance IS him, in a matter of speaking, if you know what I mean? So, unless whatever media he’ll be in will be like 75 percent flashbacks and backstory, where he’s not suited Snake-Eyes yet, does it really matter?

What is Tunnel Rat, who mysteriously got dropped from the main roster. What is Quick Kick, arguably GI Joe's answer to Deadpool in Sunbow and actually predates Deadpool, barely used. Yeah, I know that, in the original Dragon Ball, he, and the overall story, were somewhat based off of the Monkey King and Journey to the West (I think that’s what it was called). Then when Akira started hinting that Kami and Piccolo were actually aliens, he (or how editor, because, in manga, editors have a lot of sway over the story, from what I hear) wanted to make Goku an alien suddenly, to explain all his weird quirks, and to take the adventures into space, or something like that.

That said, Bardock and Future Trunks are two of the coolest characters.

They're not about "honor and sacrifice" and all that crap, they were the ones who'd dress as a house maid or farmer for two months just to get close enough to slip poison into someone's cup without anyone ever knowing. I’m going to answer my own question here, just because.

I like both versions, and I kind of picture that he changes outfits depending on what’s needed at the time. I could picture him keeping both his goggles and his visor on his person at a time.

Like, maybe the visor is more protective, so it could be for up close combat, and his goggles would be for more long-ranged or specialized combat, like night vision, thermal vision, chemical detection/analysis, or to simply block sun from his eyes (and flashbang protection), and for paragliding/wingsuiting.

That’s kind of what I thought/think.

But also, it depends on how the visor or goggles look in whatever iteration it is. Sometimes the goggles might be modeled/drawn in a sort of goofy way, and sometimes it’s the visor.

Goggles works best with the sweater and the visit with armor (like in your picture).
I hope we do get a goggles version of Snake Eyes in classified, it feels likely since they are clearly willing to do costume variants in this line like with CI Roadblock, PD Destro and SS Cobra Commander.

It looks like it’s either “GIANG” or “CIANG”. However, looking either of those up, and adding “Snake Eyes” to the search doesn’t bring up anything relevant. I also used “TinEye” to try and reverse image search, but that didn’t find anything either. I just found the image on Google Images one day, but I can’t remember what I searched for or where the image was hosted at.

It might have been someone who nuked their gallery, wherever they posted it at originally, because some artists are like that, for some stupid reason...

Good point. 4 inch figures have issues such as super stiff shoulders, blocked elbow articulation, the torso gets loose easily, and sometimes have loose or warped feet. Does the Legendary Series Raven have any issues like these? And does he have ratchet joints?

It's funny that he had the visor for ONE iteration in the vintage line, but because the geewunners skipped or missed him in 82/83 it was their first exposure and so once it came time for any Joe revisit, they needed to see THEIR superior perfect first Snake Eyes and so Hasbro just kept pushing it out all the time u til it became the standard, just like with Transformers.
Hell, with as highly regarded as Resolute seems to be, and where Snake Eyes had the goggles, you'd think that design would be sought after more, but instead we're conditioned to wanting, NEEDING, visor Snake Eyes.

Nostalgia is a powerful drug. Look at all the comic costume variants of like, Wolverine. People NEED the version of the character they remember in their minds from childhood/the best storyline/whatever. As a result, the new Fox-movie version made waves because 2000s people finally got the 'correct' hugh jackman wolverine they grew up with, while 1990s people have had their 'correct' version for a while.

It's like any time I see the ninja turtles with the all-red masks like the original comic had. Something inside me goes "that's not muh team" despite being accurate to the source, that's not accurate to the nostalgia driven cartoon memories I have.

Also, as for Resolute Snake-Eyes, the way his goggles were drawn/animated, it’s almost like a combination between his visor and his goggles. So, I consider Resolute Snake-Eyes to be both goggles AND visor, in a way. So, I’m sure the combo look is pretty intentional, to get the best of both worlds, so to say.

I don’t really take a side in this (I like both looks, as long as they’re drawn/modeled in a nice way, without looking stupid or overly goofy), because I like both looks, because my answer was here >>8543933

I've been picking up both 4" and 6" FN figs from ROSS since they are cheap. Some joints are fine out of package and others are stiff as hell. I usually heat up a mug of water in the microwave for about 2min. and dip the joint in for about 30-40 seconds to loosen it up. Then move it continuosly while it cools downs and works fine from then on. Shoulder joints are by far the most common problems for the 6" and ankles for the 4".

When SE died Throwdown (Kamakura) got an upgraded visor with an appearance more like Resolute that has nightvision, etc in it. Tons of upgrades in the headpiece but I don't remember everything (5 minute air supply...) and a switch to Tavor and Sig weapons.

Nothing was really stated about Dawn's (Snake-Eyes brainwave scanner recording) visor but hers looks more like the v2. Plus she isn't having to fake being as skilled as SE like Throwdown is.

GI Joe without much Snake-Eyes, nowadays, would just be another Fast and the Furious/war veteran coming back to do stuff/random explosion schlock films. It would get lost in the noise that is every summer film starring either Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, or another generic action star. Hell, even the live-action GI Joe fell victim to “Summer Blockbuster Explosive Diarrhea Fever”.

Also, the ninja/martial arts characters, Cobra, and not-generic-American-character are the only selling points in the series now. Who looks at Duke, and says “Ooh, he looks so cool! I would wanna watch a movie/show/play a game about him!”

I think a lot of people don’t necessarily want media to focus on “army grunt with a personality”, but they don’t want it to be 100% snake eyes and other ninjas either. Beachhead, for example, could be some slightly genemodded super soldier, like a Solid Snake type, and Rock and Roll could have some big fuckoff Cable guns, Tunnel Rat an active camo stealth rig. Maybe give Ace the jetpack or a Centurions type armor, since we're entrenched in 6 inch.

Retaliation Snake Eye's mask is the perfect iteration imho. Suit is pretty cool too, but doesn't seem too practical for quick agile ninjaing.

This is something that bothers me. Being a non-traditional, tacticool ninja is a core element of Snake Eyes. But the cooler and more unique you make his suit, the less practical it becomes.

Same here. From what I saw, that more recent Joe line at Dollar General seemed to sell pretty well. Maybe there is some official word on why it didn't become a regular thing. Valor vs Venom is one of the lines I totally missed while being out of Joe collecting for about 15-20 years. Got a couple from ebay and they're pretty nice.

Yeah, it was a pretty cool line. And, apparently, there were two versions of that “discount store” line of figured. One being the primaries, and the other the secondaries. For the most part, the primaries look better, in my opinion. But also, Shipwreck looks weird being green. Well, I guess the rest look okay, but it’s just weird seeing Snake-Eyes and Shipwreck having THAT much green in their color scheme. I’ll send two different posts with two different pics.

Also, apparently I justive been stupid when I first got the guy pictured on the right (or it wasn’t shown on the box, or I didn’t look at the box as closely), but I didn’t know that antenna thing clipped on close to his shoulder, in that peg hole on his right breast. For some reason, I thought it was some kind of special headset/goggles that provided some kind of vision or allowed him to control the Cobra BATS.

He can hold a gun, but he didn’t come with a gun with the set. Only a few had more than one weapon accessory with the Dollar General line. The others had non-weapon accessories.
Cobra Commander came with a pistol (which could be holstered) and a sword (which could be sheathed).
Storm Shadow had a katana and one of those modern bows, with the wheels on them.
Shipwreck had a oxygen mask-goggles combo, and some kind of pistol (sort of looked like one of the Renegades pistols).
The guy who was either Duke had an assault rifle and a pistol (which could be holstered) and a removable helmet.
The Cobra Trooper had an assault rifle and a removable helmet.
Snake-Eyes only had his sword, weirdly enough, though he easily could’ve had a pistol or an SMG, but I guess they only wanted to give them extra gear if they could fit it on their person.

The Renegades design looks bad in the cartoon but good in the toy. I see what they were going for with the baggy pants, but it looked bad and contrasted poorly with his skintight everything else. The Resolute design is alright. Maybe a little bland. I'm not a fan of the design element where he looks like he is wearing pants over a full body suit, but I wouldn't call it a big issue.
If I were a designer, I'd give Snake Eyes a form-fitting suit with a two piece harness (Resolute top and MGS1 bottom) and experiment with adding details like in pic related on the suit.

Man, 4inch shoulders are stiff as hell. The boiling water didn't work for me, so I tried cutting one end of the rod that goes through the shoulder ring that connects to the body. The shoulder is still stiff, but noticably less. It's now a standard fix, along with cutting some plastic off the elbow joint.

Only 10 dollars? I’m a bit to build my collection back up. Though, they were around 4, 5, or 6 dollars when they first game out. And the Valor Vs. Venom ones were 2 dollars, but I know those prices are long gone now.

I wish I still had my old collection of GI Joe figures, as well as my other figures from other series and franchises. Heck, I saw a 5 dollar set with 2 figures in it at Ollie’s of that “The CORPS” toyline, and the figures looked pretty cool, but I didn’t buy it, because I didn’t need it. But then a few days later, I kept on thinking “man, it’s been a long while since I’ve even posed an action figure into cool poses, and all that.” And weirdly, that got me kind of down. Like, almost all my action figures are gone now, for one reason or another, and the ones I still do have don’t have all their accessories any more, or are not actually action figures, but buildable figurines (Bionicle). I love my Bionicle sets though, those are the ones I’ve acrually managed to keep over the years. But still, sometimes yo unsung want a smaller, possible figurine to just mess around with with and pose.

Anyways, sorry for the wall of text, just needed to get that out there. Here’s another picture of “Basic Assortment” Snake-Eyes, but with an SMG added.

First and third are the Resolute ones, right? 2 and 4 certaily look like the Resolute show design, but I don't see similarities with 1 and 3. Which is good, because they look bad.

Yes, he was a waste of money, and, for some reason, I bought him, because almost every other version of Snake-Eyes, where I was at, were taken off the racks when the movie versions of the toys came out. After the first movie, I didn’t get too many other GI Joe figures, because some of the movie toys sucked. I think the last version of Snake-Eyes I got was the “Basic Assortment” version.

Anyone else feeling kinda over Classified? I'm having a struggle because I love Joes and these figures but I'm at a point where I am thinking about cancelling the pre-order I made for Zartan and a bunch of Cobra troopers. I have barely even touched my Cobra Island ones and it's not like I paid scalper prices for them or anything to feel regret over. Maybe it's because there's been very little news, Hasbro banking on the movie's success when it's probably going to be shit, or the continued exclusive garbage, but I've just kinda cooled down on my hype.

I currently have 12 figures and I really like them but I just don't know if I want to continue with more. Especially when I'm already working with a limited budget and collect other lines. All I REALLY want left from this line is a standard Storm Shadow and I think I'd be finished with it. It sucks to think about because a 6" Joe line is something I wished for over so many years.

The sparse and absolutely tiny releases, especially in comparison to the flood of Marvel Transformers and Star Wars, have definitely pushed Vlassified back from the forefront of my mind. I'm still hype for Zartan, and I still always find myself picking up and fiddling around with at least one of the Joes, but there's very little excitement for the line's future. I'm eagerly awaiting even SEEING the new designs for unannounced characters, but every week where we don't see anything new really slows my hype momentum.
I'm sure it's because we were supposed to be getting figures for the movie filling these gaps but it already feels almost dead. I mean, the last reveal was two Target exclusives, one new mass release new figure and a mass release version of one of the last exclusives. The waves should really be closer to five or six per to get people pumped.

Yeah, Hasbro's active silence and the constant variants and exclusives hasn't helped. I can only accept corona-chan as an excuse for so long. The least they could do is throw up some artwork for Lady Jaye/Flint/Mindbender, etc so we can at least see what they'll look like for the figures.

So, I was looking at some pictures I had saved, and I came across a picture that made me so a double take.

This version of the “Valor Vs. Venom” Baroness figure, I’m not mistaken into thinking that her pistol looks somewhat like a Mateba 2006M, right? Because, if so, this figure now 207% cooler, just for the pistol alone.

I didn't either DESU, but his renegades toy had a non-screen-canon bomb disposal robot and I just kinda ran with the idea. We're brainstorming wishlists, after all.

I see him more like a rogue/jewel heist guy, like, he's the one who has to figure out how to crawl up some random vent and through a security system and then uses a hand-held drone to go through the grate he can't physically fit through to do the thing.

He's sort of the medic in renegades, though, so there's a variety of ways they could go.

Off the top of my head, I don't have any real good ideas for Falcon, but like Tunnel Rat, they could push the medic angle, or maybe make him the normal guy with a dash of linguist/interpreter.

I'm in the same situation with Classified that I'm in with TMNT Ultimates where I'm just waiting to get it hands on more so I can have more fun with them but I need to wait until next year for that.
Does help that I only have 1 Joe vs 4 Cobras.
I really hope Hasbro picks up the slack next year, Classified is a really good line and I'd hate to see it die before it even gets a chance to do anything.
