So I finally got some new Stormtroopers and I gotta say I like them a lot. I don't understand what all the hullabaloo is about with the helmet. Looks fine to me. These guys are infinitely better than the originals. (Original mold on the left)

I ordered some last week and Amazon must have lost my fucking package or something. They were supposed to be here Friday originally. They haven't left the city north of me since then and the date got changed to today and I still haven't received them when it's 8pm where I live.

I ended up placing an order for two more tonight that were a few dollars cheaper than what I first paid anyway. They won't be here until early November, but I'm just going to keep the original ones and when the others get here, return them under my first order to Jew out Amazon a few measly dollars. Is anyone else kind of worried by the latest dog piling of Mandalorian stuff? I think Mandalorian is the best Star Wars media we've had in a while (Not saying much) because it felt like Disney stepped back and just let some Star Wars fans do what they wanted.
Now with the failure of the sequels, and the news that Ashoka, Rex(?) and Boba Fett have been added to season 2, seems like Disney is desperate take control and ride on it's success.

Reallllly hope season two isn't buried under Disney corporate changes.

This. Was really annoying to see that every single remnant stormtrooper had dirt in exactly the same place. Ended up ordering a carbonized remnant trooper solely because it had a different paint application than the regular one. Ideally they'll do a few re-releases down the line with variant paint jobs but I'm not expecting much.

I heard the TVC Mimban troopers have a number of different patterns but I haven't compared any pics yet.

Having to tie something into the movie events seems like a problem Star Wars has always had.

The fact the show is so popular could mean things could spiral out of control, sure, but I don't think it was ever so simple as Disney/Lucasfilm just fucking off. I don't think they anticipated the attention the show would get relative to the movies, but they had to have expected some kind of reaction. Tying the show to their new streaming platform suggests they had some faith in it.

My stormtroopers apparently were "majorly damaged" and thus undeliverable. I tried to get them to deliver anyway along with the refund. If anything I would have used them for fodder, but I was told they just dispose of them automatically. I kinda want to go dig through the trash at the warehouse in my city and see if I can find them. I also got the new Nihilus. It's not great. It could've been 1000x better, most people aren't happy with it. But I'm not whining when people complain, I set the thing next to Revan and I'm satisfied to have another KotoR character.

Sure, but again, that's not a big deal to me. I'm using these dudes to fill in the background of my display and photos. The model kit versions are up front or flanking Vader. If I had more free time, I'd have bought a lot more of the kits but having a few with some of the Black Series versions saves me time and gets the job done.

I'm not defending Hasbro's decision here, I wish they were much better. But I'm not going to act like these are gonna be the last stormtroopers they ever make either. I'm honestly more upset about the clones than the stormies because at least the stromtroopers don't have to deal with the knee and elbow pad problems on top of the helmets.

If anything, they could always change the helmets down the line since it's a separate piece as opposed to redoing an entire body.

Probably were cheaper than finding IG units since they seem to just be reprogrammed protocol droids. Less effective in combat and weaker armor but they can speak all those languages and blend in easier if they don't strap on all those weapons and gear.

I have the force awakens version which is essentially the same so 3 3/4 figures work with it, its a little lackluster and the cannon on the mission fleet version is too big. But it'll work as a little display piece to hold a couple figures just don't expect more than that.

I bought SHF Old Luke and Old Han on Mandarake for $40 each (1/3 off with the tiniest dents on the corners of the boxes!), and I was able to recolor Black Series Old Leia's face so she doesn't look like a total embarrassment next to the SHFs. I didn't even need any paints, all it took was two Micron Pigma markers (brown and pink), a mechanical pencil and some makeup applicators.

I never was a fan of the stormtrooper on the right being constantly repainted/retooled for different versions. It made me not at all interested in the 6inch line.
I bought a Commander Cody back when it came out and it was a totally missed opportunity to give him a removable helmet.

He kinda did. Cobb Vanth is the marshall of a town on Tatooine (Freetown in the book, Mos Pelgo in the show). Mando goes to this town in S2E01 because he heard a Mandalorian was on the planet. It turns out to just be Vanth wearing Boba's armor that he got from Jawas. The way this event played out in the show is different than the novel however which I'm assuming is a retcon.

I thought it was a really good first episode. Probably the best episode of the series. I’m completely indifferent to the Boba Fett shit. Between that and with buying the ARC kits from third party people, I'd be in it for almost $50. I want Cobb Vanth and old Boba but for god’s sake are we ever getting Mandos that were glossed over like Gar Saxon (either the Maul armor or when he was an Imperial) or an updated Pre Vizsla. I never got the first version ten years ago back when no one could find him and his paint scheme wasn’t screen accurate and we never got the more well known appearance of the character with his head shaved and with antennas on his helmet. Having collected SW figures from the mid 90s until I guess around TFU I can not believe how Hasbro doesn’t make these obvious sellers anymore.

They're all good and bad in their own ways. Black Series is good if you want his first armor, as long you get one with a properly shaped helmet and replace the cape. Beskar armor is a toss up. BS is a decent base but they fucked the helmet up again. The SHF is pretty good but his head is a tad small (helps if you raise it on the peg a bit to give more height) but he poses well and has a good number of accessories, it's just fiddly to switch a lot of them out. The Mafex isn't out yet but looks to be the best sculpt wise (but it's Mafex so it won't come out for another two years and may have QC issues).

Honestly the BS is one of the best figures they have done in terms of articulation. He can two hand his rifle decently. The helmet thing is a bummer but you can always buy new ones from JohnWalkerCustoms or other third party guys that remade it. Only other downside with the BS is that his hands are very rigid and not soft like they usually make them. So putting his rifle into his grip may scratch some paint off it if you aren't careful. And plugging it into his back is kind of annoying since the peg doesn't seem like it fits into the hole in his back enough.

This figure does rock honestly, I agree about the hands and the rifle holster. I used an exacto knife and cut the rifle peg to fit better and it worked a charm. Hopefully the new Boba Fett has a similar build. The ESB one sucks

Also yeah about that Boba Fett. I've been looking at the ESB and RoTJ Fetts that are coming out and both kinda look off to me. The Deluxe one looks interesting but haven't seen any shots of that in action.

I don't have the Beskar version but from what I can tell the bones are still the same. They just retooled for the new armor pieces. The biggest difference that I can see is they made the helmet on the Beskar one bigger because they were clearly accounting for the removable gimmick that was revealed in the latest "build up" pack in the OP.
