>>8540441>Why was Luke a threat again?According to TFA the big threat with Luke was that even if his Jedi school got fucked, he still had the knowledge needed to teach new Jedi so unless they got rid of them there was always a chance Jedi could come back. There's two big problems with this though:
1. Luke's mentors can come back as spirits and while they seem to avoid getting too involved in the living world, they (and Luke himself if he dies) can still potentially teach and guide future Jedi. Now, Snoke and/or Palpatine probably don't know that they can do this, but then you have:
2. It turns out Leia had all of the same knowledge and training as Luke did but quit literally the day before she got her official Jedi license, meaning that even without Luke she has the potential to guide Jedi trainees which she literally ended up doing with Rey
That second part means that TROS created a pretty big plot hole within TFA because both sides being so desperate to find Luke loses all of its weight if there's another person around who could do what he's supposed to do, and in fact that person is one of the people desperate to find Luke because she just completely forgot she had extensive Jedi training. What, like she can't train Jedi because she didn't get her Jedi diploma like there's some kind of Jedi education board that won't let her do it? She fucking does it anyway so what the hell was stopping her?
