>>8542559 Yep, I highly recommend regularly applying WD40 on the metal joints to keep it smooth and rust free Brother. She is an old kit and aesthetically speaking she is not good looking but she is one of the OG Busuo Shinki and has rich history behind her and that alone makes her very precious. Also, maybe plastic not as good as before so try not playing with her too much to prevent breaking some parts. Other than that, she good!

I customized my Arnval with figma wrists/hands from a bikini Miku, and have had her out of box since 2011 so she's definitely a solid girl if you treat her right.

Don’t use WD40 on anything on a shinki. It’s not necessary and it will degrade the plastic.
Anonymous
>>8542864 Silicone grease works better, regular WD-40 is paraffin-based and will damage ABS (and WD-40 brand silicone grease is thinner than heavy-duty grease)
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>8542864 >>8542873 THIS, repeatedly using wd40 on plastic will denature it, which may cause breakage over time. If you are worried about the joints rusting apply some floor polish to them before they start to seal them.

Again, do research.
Canola Oil is used on dip pens to prevent rusty too. So, maybe it could work. No garantee.

They've got things down on the engineering side of things, but the faces really lack behind the other lines of little ladies we have access to.
That being said, they're slooooooooooowly getting better. Give it another release or two and they'll probably have pretty decent faces. Hey lads, I'd like to get an opinion on something. Do you think I should paint my VF-25's grey arms and her lower thighs/knees? I'm not really a fan of the grey the kit is using. I was thinking of doing the arms the gunmetal colour I did for bits like her feet or her bra, and the lower thighs in the brown?
Anonymous
>>8563304 I think I'd paint the kneecaps and the calves (not the front of her leg) gray and leave the rest. The arms actually look good.
Anonymous
>>8563357 I've got the calves painted gunmetal already, they would normally be just a plain black on the kit but I thought the gunmetal would be cooler, especially with the feet which look like the VF-25's thrusters. The kit comes with the knee/lower thigh area in grey, so I might see how that looks. The grey arms are growing on me now, just need to fix up a smidge I missed at her elbow.
Anonymous
The grey goes quite nicely there actually, huh
Anonymous
>>8563404 Too much gunmetal; three colors aside from skin, hair and eyes is usually a good number. I think a darker than stock (but not too dark) gray for the calves and elbows would also work there, though.
Anonymous

Another thing you can do is the "melting runners into putty" method. Basically just take the runner that the piece you're working on came from, chop up itty bitty bits into a jar, pour in some plastic cement (abs qualified cement for ABS runners, regular cement for everything else), mix it up over a little while, and you'll have yourself a cement in the exact color you need. Apply it to the seam line, let it dry, then sand it down. Both methods work rather lovely. It's just a matter of what scenario you find yourself in.

Anonymous
>>8565894 This only applies to be Brother but the necks... they are very ugly and not aesthetically appealing to me. Also the shoulders keep falling off like everytime I touch it, is guaranteed to falls 30 to 40 percent based on rough estimation. There is the issue of waist not wanting to stay together. And so many MANY small parts.
And while it is true that I am a rabid fan of FA Girls, I have somehow mellowed a bit thanks to Sol Hornet, I still don't consider myself an Megami Device Fan. And is no shame to admit that I accidentally buy a few Megami's but only if the price is reasonable or heavily discounted. Unlike FA Girls where I throw all my weight around and use every resources available at my disposal (WHICH IS A LOT) and actively seek FA Girls no matter how rare or expensive they are.
I dunno Brother, the trauma I suffered from building my first Megami Device made me like this... I blame that one kit that is why I am like this today...
Anonymous
>>8565903 It looks like the anime-scale Base uses that new, more slender MD upper torso, fixing the slightly weird stretched look some MDs have.
As for the shoulders that keep falling off, you mean the shoulder blades? Because the manual recommends you glue those, I didn't have to on my Roadrunner but my Archer wouldn't stay intact without it.
Don't think I ever had an issue with the waist on any of them.
Anonymous
>>8565910 Anyway, I will need to sort my feelings first before I decide if I will get this or not. This kit is just touch me on both the VERY right ways and very VERY wrong ways. I hate it yet I like it... I desire it yet I detest it at the same time... this problem maybe I need to eat delicious food later today... maybe hamburger or something... BIG ones so I can think better...
Anonymous
>>8565923 In my experience MDs have gotten a lot nicer with newer releases. Roadrunner was my first and while she's fun and all, she is a bit basic.
But once the ASRA girls came out, and especially with Kaede and Edelweiss, the builds got more interesting and the end result got much nicer to look at, even right out of the box.
I don't really mind small parts though, RGs are my favorite gunpla grade for similar reasons.

MDs - More constant design, inherited from previous know stable MMS Shinki bodytype, no polycaps, superior use of ABS inner structure after WISM/SOL series, more sleek (except for the Nidy titty monsters, but that's fine too)
Anonymous
>>8565955 The real fun of MDs in my opinion is their articulation. You can get some crazy flying/spinning kicks, superhero landings, crouching poses and so on out of them, as well as some really subtle yet expressive stuff.
FAGs on the other hand tend to be designed in such a way that they still look solid and natural even in their most extreme poses, trading some outright articulation for better ass tech and more natural proportions in certain places.
Also I'm definitely getting one of those hip upgrade kits for my Archer because hot damn.
