The quality of the dolls was also getting worse, with lots of ugly printed polyester dresses. Eventually Mattel rebooted the line with a bland new style and cartoon that nobody liked. That was the final nail in the coffin, and MH died.
Fairy Tale High was a sort of spinoff of MH (they even had a shared character, Cupid) that did ok. Cave Club is actually a very recent line that came out this year, and most of the original MH team worked on it. By aliens I assume you mean Novi Stars. Those were kinda neat, but not involved with the MH team or Mattel at all, they were made by MGA.
