I don't think so, the error says "Your items do not meet seller's package dimension requirement"
I assume these can be changed? I found a thread that said they automatically set a perimeter and you can change them in shipping settings.

I haven't encountered that specific message before but it sounds like the seller has specified a minimum size package they are willing to ship. You'd have to add more stuff to your order from that one seller to be able to buy it, or find a different seller

Some sellers also have a "minimum buy" requirement, where you have to spend at minimum a certain amount of money for your order to be permitted

I can like the architecture, culture, art, and most of the common people of China just fine. Their leader and government however sucks big time.
Slightly related, it’s not always China’s fault that company’s design products or movies/shows to appeal to Chinese audiences. They’re are lot of people there and those companies have ever right to try to sell to them too. Again, the problem comes from China’s government restricting what kind of products and content is acceptable.

In a way it's kinda impressive how you can overdesign sets so much that they end up looking cheap and unappealing again.
The whole thing, like most of the MK vehicles, looks unbelievably tacky and like the Lego version of some shitty Chinese toy your grandmother got for you as present from the local Asia shop.

It's not just that China restricts what kind of content is acceptable. It's that companies that cater to them apply those same restrictions to their products even outside China, since it's cheaper to just make a single one-size-fits-all version than to later censor it for their specific localization. Which means that even though we don't live in China, we're stuck having to put up with their shit regardless.

Monkie Kid is a really expensive line in general because in China lego is a high-end toy, so while they could package these separately, They wouldn't be making as much money as they could be out of the Chinese market.

All the pieces are available individually direct from Lego. I just bought a bunch of MK headphone neckpieces and some unique printed pieces from the Chinese New Year line and called it good.

I love the Chinese New Year stuff, always missed out on them when they were out so I will get the new set. Monkee Kid is really odd though. I love how pic related looks, I think the girl is really cute and her bike looks cool, but the theme is clearly not for me. How is it doing for Lego though? Holy shit, Christmas came early. I managed to score the Sphinx's Secret Surprise, Mummy's Tomb and Pharaoh's Forbidden Treasure for $80 from some grandma on marketplace. Only the sphinx set it 99% intact and the sets need a deep clean but goddamn what a find.

I've had this piece ever since I was a kid. Fuck it. It's big as fuck so it's hard to pack, there's no studs or anything to interact with, and it doesn't look like anything in the ocean. Also, Aquazone has a bunch of bigass vehicles (which was based), so it wasn't quite big enough to actually play with. Even the crystal crawler that came with it (also based) was too big. I would just put it next to the actual Aquazone baseplate or just leave it stowed away. If it doesn't have studs/antistuds, it doesn't belong in Lego.

Give me a real raised baseplate. Like, imagine if we got a version of those asteroid raised plates from clasic space, but with these crystal bits. I do think that medium sized sets/baseplate combos is incredibly awesome from a parent's perspective as it's tons of bang for the buck.

to fuck up a build in LDD where parts lock together automatically is extremely hard, youd have to use clip and bar pieces to rotate the plate and then move it close to the studs using more clip and bars to move it in one axis only so it doesnt snap together like its supposed to

The cartoon is way better than it has any right to be. The animation is ridiculously dynamic and expressive, arguably industry leading, and it's got a good sense of humor too

But the cartoon hasn't aired in the west and the sets are exclusive to lego stores so I can't imagine it's doing too well. No idea if we can see how it's selling in asian markets

I'm assuming most of you are parents, so I was wondering if anyone on /lg/ have any experience with the Duplo Train systems? I'm planning on getting either the $120 or the $60 train for my 2 year old niece. I liked the app support and the push-to-activate, but I didn't know if it would be worth it over a traditional wooden train set. Also, do the trains roll without the tracks?

Is Super Mario Lego conversation welcome here? I picked up the Starter Set and Cat Suit today. Dad with TONS of Duplo Train. We have had both wooden and duplo in the house. We perfer the duplo and its similar to "Dads Lego" and we can "Play Lego" together.
Trains roll extremely well without track.

Thanks for the suggestion! I know there's a bunch of those Duplo/Wooden train conversions on Etsy so we're covered there if she gets super into the trains. I was just put off by the low variety of duplo train tracks, as there aren't any straight ramp pieces like pic related. I wanted to get something that she could grow into and enjoy until kindergarten.

from looking at it I would say that you get more mileage age wise out of wooden rail. but wooden rail can be more frustrating. the limited system of duplo is great for that age. lets face it they are both limited but you can start to make strange track building connections with wooden rail that you just can't with duplo. wooden rail forces more thinking like a puzzle. however building duplo parts is a different thought process. of the newer sets I would get the one you posted because of the crane. kids fucking love cranes. i have the one half the price and it comes with a lot of track and a cool engine but not much else going on. sometimes the one you posted is on mecari for $90. don't ask me why but its the cheapest Ive seen it. Like lego if you can grab an older set for cheap it will have more cool shit going on but the engine will be broken 75% of the time. I have not once used the app. but honestly the button or push to activate are about the same.

also wooden is just as expensive. check facebook for the older thomas sets if you want to get into it on the cheap. my son is almost 4 and I think he will outgrow the duplo train before the wooden train.

also if you have a lot of duplo you can make a construction train or whatever you can do some pretty cool shit but it requires more blocks. also get the bridge. it goes up and back down. I guess you could do a second level. I never even considered it. block do attach to the back of the track. you just need a low incline.

Any new theme is normally given 2 waves - potentially 3 at this point.

This year as a whole has been a financial disaster for Lego and the desperate attempts to appeal to China have massively fallen apart. Lego as a whole has declined in sales.

I dont know how hard it is to get now but I somehow ended up with 2 of these plus tons of other track. I wish I had pictures to share but I'm away from home for work. I will say that my boys loved these dearly from like age 2 through first grade. My older one now uses actual lego but if the younger one breaks out the trains these are still a hit with him.

This one's nice because it has the bridge and a crane made of bricks instead of solid pieces. Judging by Bricklink, mostly complete without a box or instructions is $80-100, which is good. It seems like a great collection when comparing the "deluxe" train collections over the years. All of them feature different crane molds, interestingly enough. Thanks for the suggestion.

You might look into Takara Tomy train sets. Theyre not exactly duplo, but I loved mine growing up till I was 5 or 6. Theyre cheaper too at a quick glance over on Amazon. I remember my dad ended up getting me a second one which was highly modular with the first. I couldnt find one with a crane though.

I have only had ertl and chink wooden rail engines and they both are so slow you think they are broken. At two I'm sure you could skip the engine The real action on wooden rail is building the track. But i don't think you have to choose one or the other. The thomas trains are the most detailed on wooden rail.

It is hard to figure out but certain sets of Mega bloks are exactly duplo compatible. Look up the megablok pj mask set. And a few more. The sets have lots of cool parts and are cheaper That is the only non lego I would recommend. They are harder to build than duplo.

Also I will try to find it later but there is a guy on youtube with his duplo trains climbing layers of track about 6 feet into the air. So lots more can be done with the track than it appears.

My son has spent about equal time between wooden rail and duplo.

Picked up the Hidden Side Subway for $10 by a reseller. Nice to have a set without real vehicle builds getting in the way. The train/monster is really nice, and I love the mix of parts they put into this. Feels like this one gets slept on but for a more budget set I think it might be one of the better of the theme, even if the figs aren't the best selection.

Anyone get the robots VIP set last month? I liked it quite a bit. Lots of useful little parts, not many big parts so it's catered to mini builds. I made this little guy-he's my first MOC in maybe 15 years. The steering rack isn't perfect; for some reason, when turning right there's some liftoff in the furthest/nearest wheel. I've seen some things get restocked during the year, so factories mustn't be completely shut down. Maybe just working at a lower capacity? Or whatever you're waiting for is just high demand and naturally stock doesn't last long regardless

I don't think factories are completely shut down, at least not anymore. They're just not operating at full capacity or efficiency. But I've seen plenty of things get restocked from time to time; Barracuda Bay was virtually nonexistent in the immediate months following its release, but it got a few moments where it returned briefly before flying off the shelves. Nowadays, it's always available on the official site.

Furthermore, I've ordered a few things via Bricks and Pieces. The first couple times, it took over a month for the shipment to come, but the last one, which came in a few days ago, took about two weeks.

There's some kid on twitter claiming it's the Ninjago Overlord dragon.

But ignoring that:
- It's clearly Maleficent from the colour scheme (distinctive purple chest strip, all black dragon) if it was a new design made for lego there'd be more secondary colours, Lego wouldn't just release a big black dragon, just look at how many colours they squeezed onto that massive Jurassic Park T-Rex, and all their creator dragons.

- The wings are either a new part or custom shit. Look at the makeup of the wings, the angles on the rear webbing, that doesn't match up to any existing part.

Also your dragon has quite detailed printed plastic wings with complex edge cutouts and the odd hole. A far cry from big featureless black slabs on a big black model that makes the batman vehicles look colourful by comparison. This is just another obscure MOC or similar being picked up and thrown about by trolls.

Heads up: just had a call with the (super-friendly) customer service.
The issue of clips cracking over time on their own is well known at Lego and NOT a customer-related/hamhandling problem and they're currently working on a solution.
In the meantime they'll keep replacing cracked ones for free and should you order too much, resulting in your order getting automatically cancelled by their system, just send them a mail and they'll wave it through.

I have mix between color and part type. If I could go back to the beginning I would sort by type only and not color. It is tempting to sort by color because it is easier, but it makes picking out pieces, especially small ones, much harder. You also don't need to have a separate bin or container for each individual part type. For example I keep all my tiles in one box regardless or color or size and tiles with prints or stickers in another.

Depends on the size of your collection. Mine fits into about an 8g/15L tub plus a large Classic box. Bricks get sorted into color and then bricks and ramps go in a large freezer bag, plates and specialty pieces go in a medium bag and small pieces go in small sandwich baggies. Landscaping, (in)complete minifigs, minifig tools and accessories, vehicle parts, wheels and things I'm forgetting get their own bags too. I'm not sure if this is the best system but it seems to be working for me. Parts are easy to see and manipulate to the opening with the bags and my collection is at a size where I have a rough idea of what I have anyway.

In my Life on Mars lore I like to think that because mars is radioactive and toxic in every way imaginable, that they send people that don't have a great life expectancy but are still physically fit.

A big problem is colors. Lego used to use more limited, primary based color palettes. Great examples being alpha team, bionicle, rock raiders and of course classic space and pirates. But recently they've gone crazy with new colors. Theres a million shades of blue and teal is used on everything. Theres like 4 shades of yellow now as well. Legos original colors were very iconic and consistent and memorable but they've been muddied up and thus look like knock offs.

Hey if mcdonalds started painting some of their stores chartreuse and marigold their brand would be compromised. Lego is no different. You didnt used to have issues with colors being weaker than other or being totally different tones when they're supposed to be the same. More subtle, strange colors are good for accents but imo they've gone too crazy with it. Makes it difficult for casual lego users to interchange parts from sets as well since the palettes are so specialized.

MOC architecture of Pittsburgh. Includes the Point State Park Fountain, the Koopa Tower, Heinz Stadium, the Funicular, Mt. Washington, the Roberto Clemente Bridge and the Tepper School of Business. Pittsburgh has so many landmarks, it was hard to choose. Considering making the bridge taller, but the idea is to make an interconnecting road across multiple MOC's so it can't be too tall.

Selling separately is a good move. Use bricklink to get a catalog of everything in each set. If you are missing boxes or instructions, you can pick these up as well. Rebrickable is a good way of finding prices on multiple sites so you know where you stand. If you buy on bricklink, pick up a few things so that your dealer score isn't 0.

Sometimes. Sometimes the piece is brand new and the minifig hands are still in their original turned-inward position. Sometimes the torso is cracked and full of grime. Mostly depends on the seller. Some sellers only handle stuff that's new-looking, and some sellers scrape the bottom of the barrel.

That said, I've had luck complaining to the seller and getting replacement pieces or refunds for those pieces 9/10 of the time.

Not usually. If I bought a part on bricklink and it had anything more than normal play wear, I'd complain. Sellers will almost always specify if the part is in worse than typical used condition.

If you're talking about Pirates of Barracuda Bay, you probably have at least a year. It only just came out a little over half a year ago, and it usually takes about a year and a half before LEGO retires a product. And LEGO just might keep this one in print longer since it's supposedly been selling well.

A year since it came out is the safe bet. They still sell the 2019 Ideas sets on Lego's site. They also republished Ship in a Bottle because it was popular (and probably unique enough, which they seem to like), so there's a chance that it'll last longer given how it was sold out for months upon release. You better get it while it's in stores, as the aftermarket prices will be murder.

I got pic related, months ago, but I only recently I decided to set up a track with them. However, one of the switches wasn't working right. The switch will close, just fine, but when you try to open it, that's when things get stupid. Sometimes, it will open partway, other times, it will work perfectly, and sometimes, it won't work at all. I think it might have something to do do with the tab slipping out of the spring.

Honestly, just searching the set name and instructions should give you it. I've used letsbuilditagain DOT com for some builds, but there are lots of archive sites. lego DOT brickinstructions DOT com also has some, but the site is a bit dodgy at times.

Buy a big pack of 3" ziploc bags on amazon. Separate by type, don't worry about color. Start off one container/shelf at a time, divide the labor over several days. Tell yourself to spend 10 minutes before you go to sleep everyday organizing a little bit of it.

Really? I disagree. I think the Tyler and Amy's stuff was way more visually interesting and intricately designed.
Mark and Boone's "Artopia" was a series of pretty boring rooms with vignettes, and exactly one cute idea(the paintbrush.)

I'm expecting a Bricklink order shipping from Hong Kong. I'm in the Northeast US; is it more likely to be shipped across the Pacific to LA, across the Pacific and through the Panama Canal to NYC, or through the Suez Canal and Mediterranean Sea to NYC?

Idk how tf to do the surface of water in a channel without building it up and using a fuckton of transparent pieces
how would /lg/ go about doing a smooth water surface using solid colored tiles? Thinking medium blue for the main color

The boring answer would be to just go with one solid color to give a clean look. Alternatively, use blue tiles, but layer them like waves, using jumpers and hinges to give the wave the v-shape commonly seen in real life. When layering the wave, use transparent clear tiles where the foam would be, then lighter tiles for the rest of the wave, and a slightly darker color for the rest of the water. Use the transparent clear tiles around anything in contact with the water (poles, boats, etc).

Still working on my DnD project. My newest incomplete addition is a halfling cavalier that rides a wolf into battle. Im probably going to strip off the red prints usin some good ol Brasso later.

I also picked up some brickwarriors pieces. Theyre surprisingly decent. As someone whos been extremely purist his whole life, the fact that a oot of their molds match that early 2000s/late 90s molded head with no prints aesthetic really captivates me. Their Dragon Heads make good kobolds. Their Brown matches pretty well. I just wish lego could decide on a broen themselves...

Thanks man. Getting some form of equivalent for heels was a challenge too. A lot of pieces dont stick to feet well enough.
