The anti-gollywogg agenda is one of the stupidest crap I've ever heard. The original book with the dim witted but of pure soul Gollywogg is obscure as all fucking get out. For most people it was just the cute black rag doll, no different to Raggedy Anne. In reality, the book was incredibly progressive for it's time. But let's run with the idea it's racist and would only appeal to racists. Why though? Why would people who see blacks as subhuman animals that they don't want to even acknowledge exist buy a black doll for their child? Think hard about this. They wouldn't. They would fully agree with Hitler, Aryan children should not play with Negro dolls. Aryan dolls are for Aryan children, Negro dolls will defile them or something.
Fact of the matter is, older people loved Gollywoggs because they were they are cute. They loved them. I don't think people care to really think about this all too hard, they just like to be angry.
