This E-Monster Taobao shop has been working on their range of original Powered Suits with original Dianauts, featuring a wide range of armaments and attachable armor. There's a lot of material on their design and details on their weibo. Estimated launch of the sets is Jan 2021.

They previously made various 3D Print accessories and kits for Diaclone Reboot and collaborated with MFT for a few releases.

I lumped Hardcore Mecha with Robot Build because their only licensed modular toy was that Roundhammer from almost 2 years ago, also released by Earnest Core. Other Hardcore Mecha toys are mostly completed figures like your RDs.

Junkbots gained some momentum last month so I included them.

Mechanic Studios' original mechs, Stellar Knights aren't very modular so I'm not sure about including them. Also they want to distance this franchise from the MFT Brand.

yeah, the list is just in alphabetical order.

I arrange them either by their toylines or brand names if they do more than 1 modular toyline.

They didn't actually show any of the 1/18 stuff, but I assume some will still come. One of the characters (or just in similar armor) fits in with Krivo's team.

The 1/35 stuff looks really fun, but I'd guess the price will ramp up real quick, and with space ever being a constraint, probably better to stick to fewer of the bigger items.

Also some new stuff from Astrobots, Athena and Artemis are now Q2 2021, and there are 2 new big guys, Hyperion and Saturn (a retool of Vulcan). Also some new AFRS stuff, including armour and weapon sets for them.

So the figs articulated @ 1/35 ?! what about for the 1/18 scale figs? Looking fwd to seeing how this line develops, but I really like what I see so far

Yeah, as much as I love Diaclone the colors can be completely dogshit. They need to establish a limited “brand palette” and stop with these gaudy random mashups. “Destroyer” is the only consistent scheme they’ve come up with so far (except “Marine”), even their “hero color” reds/blues don’t match.

This kills me inside. I've yet to get any of the Triver Diaclones so these recolour reissues are nice. But the new Tridasher is in a red sunburst colour scheme while these two are in the original Tridasher colour scheme. And the original Tridasher is sold out nor can I find a good place with reasonable price in Aus. My matching squad member autism is raging.

Oniflame was released early October in China, while Battle Type 5 was early November. You could compare with HLJ's release date for Oniflame and estimate from that I suppose.

I went to target to see if they had any TFs I wanted in stock, and ended up picking up the Trident because they didn't but they had a few sets of it on the shelf. It's an insanely good value. Twenty bucks for a nice amount of pieces with three official configurations.

Sturdier and less floppy than Koto’s Frame Arms, but options can be limited. Granted, Frame Arms has the advantage of their modeling supply goods side-line where you can get things like “realtype”, anime, and “super robot” heads to change things up.
While 30MM does give you options, since they’re all designed with the same aesthetic, all combos still tend to look “same-y”, which isn’t bad if that’s what you’re looking for

Came to the thread to post about Snap Ships and an anon already got the same two I did and posted about them lmao. I honestly might be in love with these things, last time a toy impressed me this much was one of the newer Zoids, and not to the same level as these. Not expensive, good pieces, and really solid. Hope they hold up over time (my old Zoids Blox haven't too well but their connections aren't as sturdy as these), but I'll definitely be getting more.

I somehow missed how RIHIO's MM005 has a transformation gimmick into some VTOL flyer thing. The way the mecha head is enveloped in a glass cockpit makes sense now. This is my custom config of that mode.

I've been narrowly focused on 30MM since I've been looking into gunpla these past few weeks. Any other similar kit series? It seems nice and cheap, good market. To me a regular gunpla is fine and looks cool after you've built it, but with 30MM it's like lego mechs you can customise endlessly and play with, way better than some crappy thing like bionicle.

I kinda have doubts about their advertised scales. Generic parts like the corridors and walls would obviously work with any scale as long as you have enough parts, but things like stairs and railings will look odd.

looking through these threads, i never get the sense that these are modular, except the OP image. they all just look like they are contiguous figures that have a shit ton of ports for guns, and if thats true then why wouldnt I want to buy a transformers siege toy, if only brand loyalty/protest.
only the OP makes me think it wasnt ordered as it was, but was cobbled together. using some wheels as part of the legs is genius. even then, the top half looks like a default kit you'd buy off al jazeer's toy barn.

A few lines are admittedly mostly modular in the sense that they have some interchangeable parts/armor but got lumped into this thread because they still fit stylistycally with what people here like. Most of the modularity and cross-compatibility come from the standard peg/hole diameters they use. Many of them use 3mm diameter pegs like Diaclone Reboot, Gunpla/30MM/Bandai candy toys, Hexagear, RIHIO, etc. However, there are some that use 4mm (RobotBuild, larger Diaclone mechs) or 5mm (Mainline Transformers), or some imperial-sized connector (Lego) or even their own proprietary joint design (Also Diaclone, Snapships, Mugenbine). Maybe we should have a list showing which line uses what, but it's a lot of work.

I wanted to like them, but all three figures I got just felt bad to play around with. Many connections felt too tight, in fact I have one with a peg stuck in it that I have yet to get out. seller is "fenglintech" on Amazon im in US so not sure about other countries Amazon. This thing is dope for 20 bucks although a little on the small side. Plastic seems fairly durable but I can see some stress marks from just snapping the ball joints in in some places. The joints are good though and it poses easily.

I got some junkbots. It took me awhile to make designs I like.
I ended up getting a couple dupes which is both a blessing and a curse since having multiple of the same part can be good but I also wish I had more unique parts to work with.

If you want cheap, Bandai's 30MM model kits are pretty good. They're made to be easy to assemble and use 3mm holes/pegs as their standard, so they're compatible with a lot of things, too. Plus, it's Bandai, who have been in the plamo business for a long time, so the kits are of good quality. I believe they also work well with the Gundam Build series kits, at least the accessories, so you've got customization options there.

BBTS certainly has the largest stock of 6, as AmiAmi and Hobbysearch only have 4 or 5. Got my tiny astronauts in today. The quality on them is really good, not sure if it's because they're a new mould or just because they're more expensive than regular 'naut types. But I'd say they probably feel better than the official dianaut figs I have. (But I only have the official moon buffalo females). Joints feel good and not too loose, not too stiff.

Now I just need to wait for the other VP series parts of my order to come in,.

It's not a bad direction for MFT to take if they aren't KOing anymore. They do have to be better QC than their KO Dianauts though because MFT doesn't have the cheapest 1/60 pilots on the market anymore.

From what I've seen it has quite a few of really neat mini-figures and mechs.
Seems like you could get a bit creative with their modularity if you had a couple of them.

They're cool, but they require the time investment given with model building, and they're pretty pricey even for model kits. I say they're great if you already know what you're doing with plamo, not so great if you're a newbie to the hobby. But, yeah, the robots themselves are amazingly modular, and the little governer pilots/soldiers are a nice bonus. Kotobukiya is pretty good when it comes to offering modularity.

Once you get them off of the runners, Hexa Gear are basically like Lego. As long as you're able to be gentle with putting the governors together, they're just about the most simple model kits in the world, though I mean that in a good way. Pretty decent first model if you aren't really into the hobby already.

Pilot is alright. I say quality is about on par with a MFT KO? No abcrunch and unfortunately no magnets in the feet. Sculpt is a bit chunkier and slightly hinders articulation, but it’s obvious the designer had a very close look at dianauts.

Hard agree. Really like the new Spinatio design but its armor setups are a little gimmicky for my tastes. Also, I guess they don't feel confident in selling Spinatio frames by themselves?

This one? Each set is retailing for 78rmb over there, which is identical to price of previous regular sets.

The reason for the price is because each set has 2x Bodies 4x Walls and 4x Floors. There are also 2 designs, B01 has Industry3 and Oniflame's walls while B02 is Industry9 and Battle5's walls. ShowZ might be bundling them together. Can't be bothered to check their listing but $30 for 4x Bodies 8x Walls and 8x Floor pieces sounds about right.

hm, that's kinda hard, for me, with modularity always comes the fact that it gets better the more you have.
If I had to choose just one I'd probably go with Assemble Borg Jarkroid. High up in my top Assemble Borg designs and the best stand-alone one imo.

Not the same anon, but I'd say Rihio Multiabyss or Hexa Gear simply because they offer a multitude of building options that actually feel like BUILDING. I love the shit out of Diaclone and Robotbuild, but they mostly just feel like glorified parts-swapping, the building doesn't get that complex. I would also cite Glyos here for an extremely deep build system, but it may only be partially relevant since it does organics as well as robots.

Got my Bounty Hunter Krivo yesterday, boy howdy I wish I could post pics of it.

Articulation is great in some places, and baffling in others, all in all, though, I can’t say I’m disappointed. Personally starting 2021 off pretty well with this figure. What I will say is that the hat fucking sucks, they chose to give it the most awful peg I could possibly imagine.

Also don’t know how this thing applies to /mrg/ since none of his equipment seems modular but god damn if he doesn’t look fucking awesome.

Did you own either of the first two Astrobots releases? What do you find baffling? I found the first two to be mostly great, I'm mostly concerned with whether anything has gotten worse somehow due to new molded parts.

Also really disappointed that he's a cowboy type...that doesn't come with a gun. They even showed him off with one originally!

Look to the Gunpla general for tips on improving that. A nice quality pair of single-bladed nippers will give you a cleaner cut, you can also trim down excess nubs with a sharp hobby knife or sand them down. Some types of plastic (typically darker ones) will also inherently get worse white marks than others.

None of the new parts get in the way of his articulation, which is very nice. I think my peeves stem more just inherent design choices with the Astrobots- the hips, for example, operating the way they do.
