So anyone else really dislike Classified Gung Ho's weapons? Like they all feel super cheap and come out of the package warped and can't even be held in two hands properly. Honestly, imo, the worst part of the entire Classified line so far (other then the target exclusives) are the crappy weapons they all come with.

I prefer the Blue one, but I don't use him as a Cobra Commander. Instead I threw on a Retaliation unmasked Firefly head on him, gave him a jet pack and a flight helmet and use him as my Cobra Air Force commander. The blue gives him a very "Cobra" pop, and he comes off as very much a guy in charge because of it.

The black version looks more like it'd be some sort of elite shock trooper or something. And if the thing had better knees and ankles I might have been tempted to army build a few to use as such.

So after seeing Red Hulk come back to Target's website after having CI tier issues, I got a little hope. Big mistake, apparently the Wave 1 CI exclusives are now listed as discontinued. I do not want to fucking go through this again trying to get a Viper and Firefly.

Why does this line suck so much? It has every reason to be great, the figures are great and yet on the last Pulse stream they completely ignore the elephant in the room. Is it that hard to say "we hear the feedback, we're working to make things more available." Its so soulless and corporate that they host these streams and say "Leave comments give feedback on who you want to see!" But never address the problem. And they did the same tone deaf shit at PulseCon too. And the retro line is a fucking joke. Was that mustache guy boasting that the figures came with stands and that Cobra Commander had a "painted white stripe on his helmet"? Its just so infuriating. Especially with these 2 figure waves that are months apart. Do they want the line to die?

Considering Christmas exclusives (Galaxy's Edge and such) are really available, I really hope that Wave 2 of CI is a little more stress free. The vipers were always my favorite, so I dunno this is stressing me.

Well COVID seems to have fucked up their plans this year to release Classified alongside the movie, I think they're trying to hold back so they don't get a repeat of what happened last time, that and Hasbro is just bad at distribution sometimes and Target doesn't care about toys so it leads to this mess.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if the two toy designers they have on their stream have been told to not mention the problem by the execs

Hopefully it'll get better next year, they seem to be doing rerelease of wave 1 and 2 and I think most places still have POs for wave 3 going.
Not sure how Cobra Island will go though since ordering more is probably up to Target but those molds are probably going to be reused on the mainline.

Spent most of the day playing and posing the classified destro, SS and beach head. Was really jaded with toys for a while now but these figures just scratched the itch for me. I probably wouldn't modify it, I think it already works well enough as a "redesign" that falls in line with Classified.
But then again you could just put red paint over the area where eye holes are to simulate the visor.

Also I may have something to use for the boxing gloves.
This ML comes with a detachable one on his bazooka and it has a peg that lets you put it on the figures arm.
Not sure if it'll fit on a Fortnite arm though but it might be worth a try.

I didn't know that was a thing, but then again I don't know anytbing about toy design.
To be fair I can still get poses out of it, it's just wobbles a lot and falls back easily when standing straight.
It'll last until more come in, then I'll harvest it for customs.

You can get some pretty good pictures with just a modern day phone camera, it's all about lighting and composition (from what I've read).
The anons in the photography thread normally have good advice on the subject.

Yeah it's crazy. The figure isn't even that amazing either, like it's not bad but articulation wise it's not as good as the other figures in the line.
I'll probably end up selling mine if they put put one with better elbows and bicep swivel.

I only own the Supreme Snake version but I like the mold, the extra hands were a good choice and let you get some really fun poses out of him, right now mine is shouting at a Trooper.
I actually wish other characters had more hand options, like closed fists for punching or hand signals for Duke.

Gung Ho I only handled briefly but he seems really good, the open vest doesn't restrict the ab crunch as much as the other vests do so you can get some good poses from him.
Plus the removable hat is a nice touch.
I didn't keep mine though since I only bought him for parts to turn my CI Roadblock into Heavy Duty (pic related).
As for Roadblock, he is very solid, my only issue is it's hard to get weapons in his hands.

Thanks, it's very easy to put together since it's jusr a kit bash.
You just need CI Roadblock and the vest and left elbow pad from Gung Ho.
The gun is from one of McFarlane's Fortnite figures "Beastmode Jackal".

Personally I'd go with CI since I don't like the vest of the original and I think it looks better overall.
That being said I do prefer the originals head sculpt as Roadblock, the CI works better for another character in my opinion.

They are most probably reissuing waves 1&2 in Dec before the holidays or at least in Jan. I just got my CI trooper and Red Ninja. Overall hasbro is killing it with this line. Just wish the weapons were a bit better.

I can see it being a mix.
Like it'll probably have padded cargo pants and ammo pouches like "rambo spirit" and a normal shirt torso (they could just reuse Duke/Flint's body) with a h harness over it.
For the head I think they'll either go for a ponytail or just have his hair down, I really doubt that they'll go the pigtails route.

Accessory wise they'll most likely keep his arrow gun and add some knives (one stored on his chest, another on the boot) but the real question is if they'll make Freedom or not.
I believe they've said they're considering doing animal companions so I can see it happening, though I'd want it articulated to a degree (enough that you can make them perch and soar).

Sigma 6 is chockfull of underrated redesigns.

Its a shame the line was a weird scale, if they'd just make it 6" back then it might have continued just fine. Not to mention it'd have cut down on packaging size and cost.

Well there was that Windblade model kit but technically Hasbro isn't making that.
I think there is something going on with Studio Series Jazz too but I don't know the full details and try to avoid that stuff.

Overall though I would say Spirit is a positive portrayal of a native american as far as I can tell.
It's too bad the movie is probably just going to focus on Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow rivalry, I thought Spirit and SS's rivalry was way better and pretty well done in the cartoon.

Considering dumping all of my joes (I only have wave 1/2 of the retro collection including the vehicles and another thrift store vehicle find) and putting that money into MOTU vintage/classics. Also, heh, I just noticed that the GI Joe: Resolute figure of Destro (one on the right) now kind of makes me think of Mr. X or the Tyrant (it whatever his name him) from how he was modeled in the Resident Evil 2 remake.

I’m not too well-versed on vintage old Joes, but I don’t think that’s one of the vintage G.I. Joe action figures. Does he have a scar on his cheek? The scar was one of the trademark hallmarks if those old figures. Plus, I think GI Joe actually had cloth clothes, I THINK.

It's the random bright gold and reds and glow effect blues that everyone hated. They've done Cobra figures fantastically, an homage to the classic but modernized and a contrasting palette of colors. Standing next to Flint you can see how little contrast she has and lack of paint detail overall.

I liked the armor and glowy bits, gave the line an identity. Scarlett was a breath of fresh air. They weren't perfect, but could've been improved. Line is clearly headed into 6 inch PoC now, which I'm fine with, but it would've been nice to be excited about seeing new figures instead of "yep, that's Flint, with the black shirt and beret"

Scarlett's a little better, but Roadblock seems eh. I think Roadblock was better with the gold. Duke did it best imo. I hope they aren't afraid of using other colors as highlights now, though.

Yeah, same here. I know that it might sound silly, since Sunbow Destro has some skin showing, but even then, they kind of made his skin a darker color. I guess they were trying to go for a “tan” look, but with the way they modeled his mask in the show, and with his voice actor, well, acted (and the fact that the voice actor was black), o kind of thought he was black too. And Destro’s outfit in GI Joe: Spy Troops made me think he was even more black.

I didn’t read the comics, because it was/is hard finding comics in a rural areas.

what would you like to see on the retro line?

-Cobra trooper (PoC trooper. If they use the 25th anniversary mold I'm done) but instead of dragunov it has the AK from the "Scarred" officer.
-Cobra officer. Same mold as trooper. Maybe give him a backpack and binoculars?
-the original 13, but they use the dollar general body.
-Lt. Falcon. Uses the club recipe for the sonic fighter falcon, but painted in green like club footloose but better.
-Flint. It is the convention exclusive that came with the "danger at the docks" but flesh colored plastic instead of flesh paint in his arms. Maybe change those arms instead for a short sleeved ones.
-Metal head. Would require new tooling though. The one from the club sucks. And it has his missile launchers adapted.
-Dr. Mindbender.
-Gung-Ho. Better painted 50th anniversary.
-Beach-Head. Straight up 50th ann release.

What else?

I'd like to see Airtight, but mostly because he was my fave joe as a kid.

I like silly characters and Cobra soldiers so Toxo Vipers, Night Vipers, Alley Vipers, you name it.
Croc Master has always been a favorite of mine too.
I'd also love to see more classic vehicles with current figure appropriate toolings.

You know damn well they'll be the SDCC Missile command builds with slightly different paint apps and face printing.

Stinger Driver and Mindbender, then fuck off with the 80's. Make something new already. Or at least dip back into the stuff that doesn't already have a ton of remakes, like the 90's Joes, or the 2000's stuff. Newsculpt had lots of good designs that were poorly executed.

Diversity hire Cobra grunts are always welcome though. Girls and blacks and browns, whatever. Fuck off 80's does not apply to Troopers and Vipers.

I wonder if it was just because model sheets for unmasked versions were never approved or were prohibited by corporate. Funny enough Shredder would unmask in completely nonchalant ways as the series went on; they kinda worked around it for a while even though he appears unmasked in the first episode.

For Shredder, people probably didn’t like how he looked without his mask. I guess they wanted him to be more scarred up, or more menacing without the mask. Plus, some characters are more identifiable by what they wear, especially back then, where every character had some type of visual gimmick as well. Sort of like how, without the mask, Destro is just some Scottish dude with either a widow’s peak or another type of receding hairline.

Cobra though? Tomax and Xamot feel like a cop out, and it'd add to the already weird incest vibe I feel like they give off. Zartan seems like the most marketable one. Goth makeup femboy in a midrift shirt? Its just Zarana with an uwu bulgy wulgy, I'm sure 4chan would eat that shit up. Make them go by they/them pronouns and the zoomers would jizz their pants over'em.

So yeah, there's your most marketable femboy'ed GI Joe characters.

Yeeess, I was thinking about Hi-Tech too. Especially since he’s probably one of the youngest Joes, if Spy Troops and Valor Vs. Venom is to be believed. He was in Sigma 6 too, but I don’t know he his personality was in that one. Also, I don’t know much about the deep lore of GI Joe, because I could never get ahold of the comics, but isn’t Sci-Fi just basically a reimagined Hi-Tech, but without the long hair? Or vice-versa?

Like, both GI Joe: Renages and Sigma 6 are fully available for free on Tubi, and I think they’re on other services too, if you want to pay for them. But there’s nothing for Spy Troops or Valor Vs. Venom. About the only thing I can find are short clips from the movies (mostly the fight scenes between Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow).

I know that both those movies were kind of trash, from what I can remember about them, but still, I kind of would like to watch them again, without having to pay top dollar for the DVD versions, or risk getting 76 infections on my PC.

Plus, you know, campy can still have its own charm occasialy, because people still watch the Sunbow series, and even the DiC series.

I thought Hi-Tech was a hacker/communications guy. Because Sci-Fi is a laser guy, there's no overlap as far as I know. Red Spot was another laser guy. He easily could've had black hair and been another version of Sci-Fi, but having more than one laser guy is fine.

I've accepted that Retroblasting and Analog Toys are right about Classified. They suck. I've had most of them for a while now and I haven't been happy with them. The line makes better toys at 12 and 4 inches. Something is missing at 6 and most of the designs suck.

You and them are entitled to your opinion, it's unfortunate you didn't enjoy them since personally I've been having a lot of fun with Classified but at least you have them a try.
