OP here. I was curious about that as well. I was looking at lego black friday deals on amazon and that popped up. I thought it was super gay. I'm assuming that despite it being discontinued well over two year ago there were still plenty in stock. It is still at the jacked up price of course. But they put it on "sale" for 13 dollars above MSRP to bait in suckers.

I really don't like Battle on Scarif as a set but the minifigures were quite good. Hovertank was great. I'm sad you sold them. I would never sell my lego. To the point where I'm probably going to be a lego hoarder in a few years if I'm not careful.

I go in phases, I've sold so much Lego over the past 4 yrs it's not even funny; I sell sets, buy other ones, sell those to buy the other sets I sold before, etc.
I should just stick with keeping my sets, but I don't have the room to keep everything for the most part - I have most sets NISB/disassembled in ziplocks atm

Honestly I'm more into minifigs anyways, so I'm not too worried about keeping sets unless they really appeal to me

40ish. I have most of the fantasy era Castle Sets and have since their release. To this date it is my prized collection... that lives in plastic storage tubs. On top of that, I've been collecting lego since the mid 90s. and they show up in all kinds of sets.

Looks like I'm at 8 right now. I've done the same thing with my BrickLink orders.. My Emmet army is a little more vast. Last I counted, it was over 20 for sure. He's a fun minifig, so if I see one for a decent price, I snatch one up every now and then. But I also have this dread that I'm turning into a hoarder, so that prevents me from going full on army builder with them. Maybe once I move to a bigger place next year, I'll have room for more as well as the town I'm hoping to build.

I want to buy a couple of used old sets for nostalgic feels around christmas time. So far i bought all of the Aqua Shark sets and while i looked for them on ebay and other platforms, i noticed that some of the old series are way more expensive than others. Popularity back then (and now) seem to influence the price by alot.

Do you know any of the Space or Aqua series that did not sell well, or is least popular these days? Mainly to get sets with lots of Space ship parts for cheap.

I'd say that Classic, Blacktron, M-tron and Ice Planet are going to be most expensive of the bunch. Probably RoboForce too since it had pretty limited release.

Ice Planet yes (which is a shame, because i loved it when i was a child and only had one or two of the smallest sets)

Surprisingly B-Tron stuff can be found quite cheap (which is nice, because of the cool color combinations).

Also to my surpise, the UFO series (pic related) is really expensive. I never liked it back in the day, but maybe i was the only one.

All sets were below 10€ each besides the biggest one with the shark cave. That was 55€.

My mom works at kindergarten, and she says she washes the toys in dishwasher and it works just fine. Just put the Lego in laundry bag or something so the loose bits won't bounce around. I've washed some parts in actual laundry machine and it works too, even if it's bit rougher for the parts.

Use a dry tooth brush to get dust off of parts, then soak the parts in a tub full of warm water, dishsoap and a little bit of white vinegar to neutralize the smell (if there is any, I've received sets with a ton of "cellar" smells to them)

You could also use the toothbrush to scrub the parts while they're wet to get the loosened grime off of it after they've soaked; once I'm done that I usually put a strainer in my kitchen sink along with one of those drain blocker things (pic related) to dump the water out safely

After the parts are in the strainer I run warm/lukewarm water to get the remaining soap and whatever off of it, put them back in the bin I used to wash them & then dump the parts onto a towel laid out on the ground to air dry - a small fan might help to dry them quicker, which is what I have also done in the past

This method works pretty good for me desu

I've never done that myself, I find it's too risky, but JANG did a tutorial on how to restore yellowed parts (I believe)

Basically he filled a tub of yellowed parts with water and added some peroxide or some other chemical, then put it out in the sun for a little bit

I forget how he did it, so I'd recommend doing research before actually trying it or else your Lego might get damaged

Unironically if they want to make a movie in the Shrek universe that would be great. But the correct route is to make it about a different character. Like Throwback, the only ogre to ever spit over three wheatfields. Rebooting it is a mistake. 1 and 2 aged really well. Long term I think I might. Desert themed castle fantasy would be pretty neat. European Knights vs Saracens vs Dwarves vs Elves vs Skeletons/EvilWizards/Goblins/Orcs/Trolls/Dragons would be the dream. But I want to start smaller scale so it is manageable and work up from there. Either way I'll have to get some of those tan LOTR orcs for the desert.

I don't have any sketches yet. When I get the materials I'll do some light graph paper sketches of general layout but I think thats about it. My niece and nephew had a large minifigure battle on my practice house in another room. I don't think there is anything left worth taking a picture of.

At least we're getting a centaur chick. Saves me from having to spend 30 bucks on a Hairy Butthole Pussy Potter set. And I guess the alien, space policeman, and Aztec warrior are kinda cool. But I'm not seeing an increase in quality that a lot of apologists for the decrease in figures would entail.

I've had more parts crack and split over the past 4 yrs than I've ever had before that; I'm pretty sure it started around 2016, and ramped up in 2017 - now
Not sure when they opened their factory in China but it probably coincides with that

Yeah that is a big issue, my old stuff is still in good condition and not broken, even parts I was given from older family members 80's lego is still in good condition and no cracks nothing broken but new sets have these issues, my worst parts have been cheese wedges and technic bushings, I've manged to get pretty lucky with clips only a few broken

The severe cracking, especially on the dreaded clips, can be traced back to like a decade ago, around the time Space Police 3 came out, although some stuff like the infamous droid and skeleton arms were shit since their introduction.
Why they never moulded them in some softer plastic like those minifig ladders is beyond me.

I wouldn't say I absolutely love lime. Ever since I started to build things for my minifigure with this color scheme, it has certainly grown on me. If I had discovered a nice green look for his getup, his house and things would have a regular green theme instead. Of course now it's too late. I've had him like this for over six years and to change his color scheme would feel sacrilegious now.
