>>8606255Sounds like you're probably just a tad older than most of us. KBs selection really peaked from about 1997-2000/01.
That's around when they seemed to be buying "exclusives" in droves. "Exclusives" meaning, lines nobody else wanted to pick up.
My inference is, in an effort to stay alive and maximize profits, KB would buy lots of lines that other stores wouldn't pick up for pennies on the dollar. They also seemed to have a really good relationship with Toy Biz, as they carried multiple "Exclusive" Marvel lines and figures that effectivley just repaints of older figures.
Newer, more detailed Toy Biz stuff like Planet Venom or Blade the movie lines, I don't recall ever seeing KB. Most of their lines were repaints of older 92-95 X-Men/X-Force/Spiderman figures. And if course the droves of 10 inch Marvel figures.
KB was also the only place I ever saw the Toy Biz/Capcom figures. I never even saw those in video game stores that carried action figures. Whatever the deal, they certainly had a good relationship with Toy Biz.
>>8606726>>8606733>when i did end up at toysrus i remember being dissapointed sometimes at what felt like a comparatively boring selection.Yeah, TRU was always predictable.
New movie come out? TRU will have the figures.
Wrestling fan? TRUs got your guy.
New Lego line? TRU.
KB was a crapshoot of variety. An exciting treasure hunt of things you never knew existed. It wasn't the place to go if you were looking for a very specific new figure, but way better if you had a few dollars burning a hole in your pocket.
