Do you guys ever get a toy from a property/franchise you're not familiar with or don't care about just because it looks cool/fun?

I usually don't, but Scareglow is kinda reeling me in.
I love corny looking bad guys, I wish there was a book on corny villain character designs.

Also I will say I'm super disappointed that this picture of the prototype looks WAY better than the final product.
I know that's expected, but I feel like the quality of the prototype shouldn't be hard for mass market to produce.

I don't give a shit about the MotU cartoon or the property in general, I just think the designs are neat and the general vibe of the world.

I've been loving the Mega Construx MotU line because I can pick up a bunch of characters without have to devout a lot of space or money to them like I would if I was collecting the bigger figures.

I have the same situation going on with G.I. Joe, I was aware of it but had no real interest in the series but Classified looked fun so I got on board and it's actually got me into buying military stuff as a whole.
Though to be fair I do look up characters and read their bios just to get a general idea of their personality and backstory.

The final translucent plastic look looks way better in person and is accurate to the vintage toy. I love that the finger tips are pretty much see-through. The black paint application is a little uneven though, I've seen people have their own problems there.

I wasn't super familiar with MOTU before classics. I had vague memories of the cartoons, saw the movie once, and I know a stray Ram-Man made it into my toys. Classics looked cool though so I cherry picked as I could afford them, and get them in time, until that line went subscription only.
As a random aside the best piece of MOTU content is the thick tome of all the mini comics which was put out by Dark Horse. Highly recommend.

Otherwise sure, not knowing the franchise hasn't stopped me from buying toys.

I actually rely on toys to help me find good properties to get into.

For example I only started watching snk and terraformars after the figmas were revealed.

Same for older shows like Mazinger Z and Kinikuman. When they announced the GX70 and SHF line I decides to read/watch the entire series.

I find it better than being into a series first (like One Piece) and constantly being dissapointed by the lack of good action figures.

Does Lego stuff counts if it's attached to their original IP? I got the Ninjago movie dragon without minifigs 2 years ago for pretty cheap.

Also most of my gunpla come from series I will most likely never watch.

definitely, Scareglow is actually one of them. And Fortnite was a big one lately, never played the game, but I really enjoy the figures.

I’ve never played Overwatch and know next to nothing about it, but I picked up some of the Hasbro figures for next to nothing because I liked the designs. I was surprised by how well made they are. Very sturdy, every figure comes with alternate hands and effects parts. These chicks even have a flight stand! Really nice for American retail toys.
