>Plan to Sort by typeColor is a meme. I'm not saying sorting by color is inherently bad. But you should only really sort by color once you have already sorted by type and piece. And even then color sorting is only if your collection is huge enough to warrant an additional sorting method. There are two ways to do this. Either stick with type -that is all bricks in one tub, all plates in another, slopes in another, dishes, plant pieces, technic, minifigures, etc etc- OR type and piece - which is to say bricks will be sorted individually into 2x4, 2x2, 2x1 baggies within each drawer, etc- . Type and piece will mean you will need to purchase a lot of baggies to start, as this will take up more space. This is ultimately the better method, but is more time consuming, and may be unnecessary if your collection's size doesn't warrant that. If you can know which drawer each piece is in and can find it quickly, then you know that more sorting won't really be necessary. If you want to start with type and then sort by piece at a later date. Then you can do that drawer by drawer at a later point in time too.

I *HIGHLY* recommend having 1 or 2 of pic related ready from the start. Your fingernails will be chipped and bleeding if you sort an entire collection of lego without one. Not only that you will damage some of the pieces. I had so many of these after all these years buying sets. I ended up going through three of these. They wear out quick when sorting. Put on a movie, tv show, audiobook or podcast. I recommend Seinfeld, because I love having Seinfeld on in the background. But your mileage may vary.
