I’ve got some _really_ old Lego with minifigs where the only poa (if it’s worth calling it that) is the ability to turn the head. The arms are just bump detail along each side, and the legs/feet are a slightly tapered block.
On the other hand; there’s knock-off minifigs of the same overall size/shape like XingBao that manage balk&socket shoulders, others with elbows and hips.
And of course; the megabloks that basically miniaturise a ‘proper’ figure instead of a cartoon.
