Green Goddess:

>This is essentially just an easy repaint of Teela, the character was an early version of the Sorceress from the vintage Mini-Comics. In the early mini-comic canon, He-Man was a barbarian that the Goddess bestowed a high-tech vest and magic weapons to. The vest/armor gave He-Man his special abilities. She tasked with protecting half of the Power Sword, which unlocked Castle Grayskull and the powers of the universe. Her spear is shown being being used by Teela on the recent Panthor box art.

Yes it is, but we already got a great selection of brand new figures as is. If we have to take a wave of mostly repaints, I can wait through that. (Especially since I haven't seen anything other than the first wave at retail yet)

MotU has historically been a line about seeing how much economy they can get out of a single steel mold via repaints and parts reuse. Shit's only gotten more expensive over the decades, so I fully expect to see far more Teela/Goddess/Evil-Lyns and fewer one-offs like Orko. I expect howls of outrage from the org if a repainted LoP goes retail, but at the end of the day, it's Mattel standard practice.

It's very clear they wanted that new Mer-man head to also be retail. The very first German leaks had Mer-Man and Beastman listed as a two-pack with alternate heads, each with a "vintage" head and an updated head, with Mer-Man's head described as looking like the vintage mini-comic version.

I kinda knew from the very beginning that we were getting retail releases of the LoP Beastman and Mer-Man, just because I couldn't imagine Mattel letting parts that they sculpted and tooled to be wasted on just some exclusive-- that they'd re-use them some how, unlike the boot knife, which is convention exclusive, but in it's case has been in multiple exclusives so far.

Orko would be a screaming bitch to do in MCX with any level of detail/articulation if they want to keep him to scale (as he's only - eyeballing model sheets - about 24" from eartips to hemline)... that being said, I want one too. The other two are essentially eventual (toy versions, ofc).

This would only really work with Montork (left), simply requiring changing the eyes and adding a beard. Dree Elle (second from left) and Snoob (right) would both require extensive/entirely new re/tooling. And that doesn't even scratch the surface, as there are those who are smaller (Yukkers, Zoog), armored (Umpty), ornate (Blim, Foosabella), or just plain wtf (Wokrapanwooki). Not to mention the legal wrangling with Dreamworks (as afaik, Mattel only bought Orko, copyright and all, in 1984) and general anti-Orko fanwanking (Classics killed off the entire Trollan race). It's nice to dream, though.

It's one of the best aspects of the line. It means that even if they don't remake something there's still compatibility with the originals. Although some vehicles were tight fits even with vintage figures, such as the Roton. I can get an origins figure in a Roton a bit easier than a vintage one, but it'st still a bit small and difficult to get a figure to sit in the seat properly. I'm really looking forward to the eventual Origins Roton.

Yup. Though there are a (very) few who don't accept post-Neitlich canon, Danielle Gelehrter and Eric Marshall's canon continuation saw Trolla invaded by Snake Men (and later the Horde!), their numbers decimated, and the few survivors are heavily intimated to have fled that reality altogether! The only ones left as of the end of MotUC are Orko, Dree Elle, and the indifferent shade of the Oracle. (source: the bio cards posted on the org). Personally, I utterly loathe this Bad End, but as I will never be an ascended BNF, I am powerless to change it (the Trollans' overall status in Origins is currently unknown).

so I'm just getting started with He-Man. I ordered the He-Man, Skeletor, and the Battle Cat. Is there a vehicle that's good for Skeletor that's still in production for MRSP? I mostly collect Marvel stuff and Transformers, but I find this Origins figures so charming.

The art certainly implied it. They've said that things shown in the art, at least when it comes to characters are generally going to be action figures(this seems to mainly pertain to figures based on vintage toys and not new characters).

Damn anon that is a crazy collection. Jelly of so much in that pic. I'm guessing you had a MattyCollector sub during it's run? I'm in Canada, so MOTUC wasn't as accessible to me while it was going. I mostly bought all mine loose whenever I could/can find them, but it seems in the recent years they've been slowly creeping up in price. Took this pic in 2017, got Roboto for $15 CAD and Spikor for $20 CAD. What the hell happened in these last 3 years

do you have a maintenance schedule for dusting? That is a really cool assembly of guys. While there is definitely a sense of clutter I feel like the amount of army builders creates enough order for it to be a pleasing display.

Ya, this is discussed whenever the question of "what else should be made with the Origins body", along with Street Sharks, etc. I'd love for Kinnikuman to get some attention, but unless it gets a Netflix anime or something, it feels like it's pretty well stuck in action figure limbo. At least there's still some new chapters of the manga coming out.

The one issue I have with Origins is that it very much doesn't feel novel. Meanwhile the WWE MOTU figures have a newness to them that I find very enjoyable, which I'm hoping the Masterverse figures have. Also hoping we get some WWEternians in Masterverse, preferably if in a different sub-line, so that MOTU only folks won't complain about them, and that we'll probably get more this way.

Wal-Mart often over buys on wave 1 of a toy line and then never re-stocks the other waves until they've burned thru that wave 1, so you might see the pegs get cleared and have empty pegs for awhile, and then some Wal-Mart employee finally decides to restock and pulls out another box of Wave 1 from out of the back. Hasbro allegedly started limiting stores such as Wal-Mart from being able to order too much of a particular wave of Star Wars the Vintage Collection, because they would frequently buy heavy on a wave and then essentially never buy any of the other waves, because nobody wanted the shitty first few waves because it mostly contained repacks of figures that people weren't crazy about the first time. Same deal happened at other retailers such as Target and Meijer's. The last like 4 or 5 waves of TVC were noticeably only a few cases at retail and then gone. Supposedly this was because Hasbro imposed a limit of how many cases a single store could purchase.

To my knowledge, you don’t need to itemize anything. However, it’s a great idea to take a video every few months of everything you own and store it on a cloud server, eg Google drive. Just do a slow video of you showing everything you can. If something does ever happen, you often forget when you own and having the video will help you create that itemized list for your insurance. Every policy is different though

Something I liked better from the previous arrangement is that it showcased the height of Lundgren He-man directly next to other characters. I'm a sucker for height differences and it was a great highlight in a display of figures that mostly use the same body.

Any pics? Sounds like "crotch rot". I haven't seen it on a Mossman before, but as these figures age, I expect more and more to succumb to degredation of plastics and materials.

Crotch rot is when the band's used to hold the hips to the crotch degrade on some figures and leech dark rings around the thighs.

There are a few remedies, although most involve chemical abrasives. So I'd be weary of using these methods on a flocked figure.

Never got the hotwheels hype. People are tripping in my city trying to find the turtles party van and people are selling it on the local marketplace for like $5, which i mean why not just buy it on the marketplace instead of wasting gas driving all over the city to find one

Every time i see the wrapped pallets of toy boxes at walmart, all the hotwheels ones are torn open. Every time I go to walmart to look for action figures, there are at least 2 people combing through the hotwheels pegs. Is it that much of a lucrative market when the resell is $5? Am i missing something?

You can buy and horde a lot of them and not take up too much room. They're also cars; the most normie of hobby interests, which means wider appeal than stuff like wizards, dinos, or space marines.

Probably. Target's better about restocking than Wal-Mart is, but neither's employees really give too much of a fuck to care and to get them out on shelves, and they're pretty much the only options for toys in the US. I know that the next store exclusive G.I. Joe Classified figures are street dated for January 1st, so there is hope that there will will be some re-stocking going on in the toy department.

Supposedly the LoP set will be individually carded and sold at retail later, presumably with fewer paint apps/no spiffy collectors' packaging. Take it with a grain of salt if you will, but it seems plausible, given the constant reuse of molds/parts that Mattel is (in)famous for.
