Finally the last Aquasharks set that i ordered a while ago arrived. Christmas time is really noticeable when it comes to deliveries.
But luckily it all arrived before the holidays.

The only thing now still missing is a couple of minifig components. I think i ordered 10 more torsos and several fitting heads and head gear options so i have a bit of variety.

Aquasharks was the most complete theme I had as a kid, was only missing the little sub in your pic and I BL'ed the parts to make it in recent times. I've somewhat neglected my shark bros in favor of the underwater mining op but I've been slowly accruing parts for another vessel, perhaps to be built during this latest enforced vacation heh.

When i built the large ship that came with the crystal cave i thought it would be cool if it were twice as wide. It feels to thin for its height somehow.

Know what you mean, when I rebuilt mine after many years I changed things up a bit, adding fins just aft of the forward canopy which helps bulk up the craft some while retaining the slim body. My intention was to convert the strictly submersible design into one also capable of space flight (incidentally serving as inspiration for the mining op later). Might tinker with it a bit sometime, feel like I swept the fins forward for a reason since sweeping them back would've been more aesthetically pleasing otherwise, can't remember though.

Only slightly related but here's a more conventional-looking sub I've built as well, still haven't assigned a crew to it after all this time heh.

Eh, I'm almost as much a fan of Ice Planet but there's factional aesthetics to consider. Aquasharks have black because they were intended to be the antigonists to the Aquanauts, giving them that more sinister look. I personally always prefered the sharks and flipped the plot, with the villainous Aquanauts being stripminers encroaching on sovereign Aquashark territory (something one could argue applies even more prominently to the Hydronaut/Stingray theme). The white fits perfectly with IP2002's peaceful arctic pursuits.

My current plan is to use the change the colors of the Space Police 2 Mediator and change all grey parts with blue ones, and trans green with orange ofc.
But this will require an order from Bricklink or ebay, so it will have to wait until after Christmas.
If that project turns out well, maybe that Deep Freeze Defender too. All white parts turned black and it should look quite interesting.

Ice planet is amazing as well, But to me, blue and black in combination is just the perfect combination. The trans-neon-orange is not even necessary as you can see on pics like >>8633138
Still a great color for trans parts.

An arctic-themed moc along those lines is somewhere down my ever-growing list of ideas I want to build (eventually). The big orange cruiser is sort of this, assembled from two small dropships I had previously and with arctic crew and motifs. Still needs a larger ground vehicle/mobile base of some sort I suppose.

The Galactic Mediator is one of Lego's greatest creations, didn't have one as a kid but through patient Bricklinking I finally have my own, slightly modified but identifiable. I've also thought of producing an Aquashark version, especially after seeing another anon's IP2002 and SP1 versions. I'm probably going to come up with my own design, perhaps with some inspiration but I'd love to see a Mediator like that if you build one, DFD a la Aquasharks sounds like a neat idea too.

I have a few of those kinds of hair pieces. The lowest part of the hair is at the same level as the tops of the shoulders of a minifig. I don't have any boas, but that cut out part in the middle makes me think a minfig head should sit in there snugly and occupy the same space as the back of the hair piece. So I doubt it.

Alright anons, I bought a MISB bad cop CMF from the lego movie line, it arrived today, I opened it and the handcuffs are really sticky. Obviously something happened to the plastic, but what could have been the cause? Are all lego handcuffs like that? It was in a sealed original bag. Was I just unlucky? Surely the plastic they use for that part can't be that bad that it gets messed up after a few years in a sealed bag? You can't really see the stickiness in the picture but pic related.

Sure, though it's more of a mundane cargo hauler. Here's another, more of a sleek blockade runner with detachable cargo pod and defensive combat drones (this thing got built because I wanted to use that brown windscreen for something).

I do, and they do. I tried a few similar styles, and none of them fit because the back of the wig rests too low on the head.

Turns out there are comparatively very few wigs that work with the boa.

Sounds like leaking plasticizers. Nothing you can do about it but throw it away. You can wash it with hot soapy water but it will get sticky again in a little while as more plasticizers leak out. I've never had any turn out like that so it might just be the factory where it was made.

You need a power source. You can probably link them up with the cable and spin one. It might spin the second one. Normally you have a power box or a mindstorm brick to control it.

If you really want to salvage the handcuffs, try leaving them in cornstarch. The cornstach will absorb the seeping plasticizers and should leave the handcuffs feeling less tacky. Use a healthy amount of cornstarch, leave in a bag or container for a day, then scrape off the cornstarch from the plastic with a toothpick or something. Repeat if necessary.

Handcuffs are pretty common, though.

This one is unironically good. Lots of points of articulation, dieselpunk aesthetic, clever use of the power miners rollcage, nicely integrated propellers, space in the back for abseiling troops, and you can dress down the raven aesthetic to use it for other things, like alternate timeline WW1 machinery. It's one of the only Chima sets I owned, and I really enjoyed it. Hell, even the inverted slope piece used for the beak looks like it has rivets in it.

I never had any of the space police 2 sets besides 6813 but this ship was always my favorite space ship. I even had the two UFO ships and still dreamed about having the Mediator.
Its really about the time to order some spare parts and build it. There aren't even that many special/expensive parts included.

When I first looked it up I was surprised that for such a large set it's only 387 pieces all told. Unfortunately though if you're going for 100% accuracy the trans-green panels are going to be a challenge, especially the 3x2x6 curved ones. In the end for my Mediator I opted for a modification that used the more widely available windscreen. Also at the time I didn't have enough of the trans-green 1x4x3 panels, can see a trans-red 1x2x3 placeholder one in the pics heh.

This is not anywhere near as confirmed as a few people want you to believe. The majority of people buying full boxes are getting an even distribution. The real lesson right now is if the box is not sealed or at least full, assume it is mixed from several boxes. I think thats one of the issues with LEGO's OC themes these days. Everything kinda just looks too similar. Nothing really standing out.
that set could be an avengers set, a chima set, a ninjago set, a nexo set, basically anything if you just changed the minifigs. Kids would barely be able to tell the difference.

Minifigs were fucking kino tho. Those helmets were great.

MNOG is fucking kino, easily holds up as a great adventure game even outside of the Lego/Bionicle brands.

Aside from that, Lego Racers is adorablle and fun, and Lego Island and Lego Backlot are p comfy too.
Also Lego Rock Raiders - there's like three different versions of it (PC, PS1 NTSC, and PS1 PAL), with PC generally considered to be the best version, and the PAL release being the superior of the PS1 versions as it had more dev time before release (at least from what I recall...)

So in the end few parts were indeed missing / yellowed. Nothing important, just looks like the set was restored from parts bin. All but mentioned parts are in good or even like new condition. I mostly glad that all transparent pieces are scratch-less and like new.

The only cone is that there was a head of a minifigure missing. I knew it prior buying tho. The face of a guy with drill is not there, but honestly with googles on any other face makes no difference. The other bad thing is that there are few cracks on ball joints sockets, but that is expected. same pieces from my sets are in way worse condition.

>SCENARIO 2: Prior to the eceleb getting to the store, someone mixed the boxes to get their preferred figures(Aztec and Ladybug) and threw the pugs (which no one wants) into the last box for the eceleb

I'm going to say that Scenario 2 is most likely. But I cannot say for sure obviously given I can only base this on assumptions.

thematic overreach and overworking the same artist(s) over and over to crank out "new" sets have to be the two biggest symptoms of the creative bankruptcy and lego.
Not to say of course that within a given theme there is no creativity, but rather that by allowing something like ninjago to effectively branch into the points of other themes (huge mechs, flying ships, dozens of niche spinoff subthemes, things outside the realm of ninjas) you have way too much overlap.
There's no point to monkey kid when on the shelf it's nearly the exact same as ninjago, just with a higher price tag
Throw Chima up on the shelf and the wall just turns into a large, bland "mystic" colored back drop
It why you need a clear cut vision for each theme, and why the creative leads need to be more comfortable with ending a theme whenever it's obviously becoming too large.
I'm just rambling

You have to make this as a physical build.

The ships I remade were made for my Blacktron 3 faction.
Back and left is the remake of the Blacktron 1 Invader.
Front and left is the remake of the Blacktron 2 Allied Avenger.
I haven't remade nearly as many sets, but these two I felt could fit with the thread theme.

The boxes are sent in a sealed box from lego, but the display case hasn't been taped shut since disney series 2. Scenario 2 is the most likely, but there have been rare reports of recent series cases not having full set. I'd wager about 1 in 50 if not 1 in 100. Most can be hand waved into scenario 2, but some can't. Obviously given either option between scenario 1 and 2 the best option for most people on youtube is going to scenario 3 regardless of the truth. Just saying.

If it's incandescent or florescent, see if you can set your camera's white balance to that. Auto settings can be hit or miss. Only other thing I can suggest is bringing over an additional lamp or three (for basic three point lighting) where every bulb shares the same color temperature and then it's /p/ autism from that point on and is useless if space/moving shit is a factor.

My local liquidator started carrying Lego, so now my tiny farming town has a decent stock of MISB sets for below retail, including a bunch of the Mario sets for $5 less than retail. Not into that, but I found last year's City Advent Calendar for $25. Extremely fun and cute builds.

Lots of extra pieces including two red open studs, which I didn't have any of.

These builds are super cute and cozy when grouped together. The small table with milk and cookies for Santa (and a candle) is my favorite one. I love the "One upon a time" tile.

Santa is packing a spare.

I love Lego's ever-expanding line of comfy sweaters.

Also comes with parka and ushanka in medium blue (I think). I only had them in red, so that was nice. Mustache guy has dual faces.

Pic is the set with the other building. The neon sign is kino as fuck. The tree has peaches on it which look better from a different angle and the mech is nice too. You can place a minifig inside and see the minifig's face through the hole in the chest. I hope these sets don't retire for 2-3 more months so I can get them. Got the foodtruck this month.

I did that just to emphasize how big the gap was. Here's a better look with the two neon bricks connected at the bottom. The tan plate sits just barely higher than the neon studs so you can't press it all the way down.

Clone Wars sets were a very hot item when they were doing them regularly. The one or two they have out now are selling out fast. Mandalorian sets are selling out quick. They played it safe with Mandalorian only making a few sets -understandably so after the shelf warming the sequels did- but people are chomping at the bit to consoom that shit. I had a very different experience. I have only ever seen the AAT on shelves once. I have yet to come across a 501st battlepack in person. Regardless. The major online retailers have rarely had stock longer than a few days. Amazon, Walmart, Target all sell out of the Clone Wars stuff fast. Of course you can get them though. 3rd parties sell through amazon and target, you can get them off of scalpers on ebay/bricklink. They aren't rare. I'm just saying they are selling. This doesn't upset me either. I'm not going to buy them. Though I fully admit I have a sizable collection of Star Wars lego from the early 2000s, I'm not going to buy Star Wars in the current year.

I'm not sure if he still does that on newer videos. He did it to his older videos because of United States law. Google and Youtube ((need)) to have targeted ads. Because of this, channels aimed at children (and some that aren't but got shafted anyway) got hit with United States Law on tracking children and making ad profiles on them. Quite illegal. But Google ((needs)) to track users and make profiles on them. It is important to ((them)) because its who ((they)) are. Jang disabled comments in trying to keep in line with everything ( I don't remember specifics). But then decided to disable ads altogether and switch to Patreon. Because ((Youtube)) and ((Google)) hate their content creators for some reason.

I never really sell my sets but I sold an old modular on eBay and the buyer came back saying that it was missing 20-30 peices despite my rebuilding it from the instructions before packing it.
Am I just getting ripped off?
Of course Im human and can make mistakes but not to that extent. I'm also wary because ebay heavily favors the buyer so I'm kind of screwed either way

I'm a huge giant Starwarsfag and most of my collection is from 1999-2010. According to this I have a small fortune in minifigures. A lot of which are in the $20-50 range. Most expensive is Jango. Really curious why a minifigure from a shelf warmer like the Resistance Bomber is so valuable here though. Am I missing something? That set was mass produced and then didn't sell well. It was on the market for years and only recently got taken off of shelves.

I used to mix Aquazone and later series Divers with classic Pirates. Divers and yellow Aquazone guys were looking for sunk pirate ships and skeltons or treasure. Shark Aquazone guys were modern day pirates trying to rob scientists.

Another two series mixing - Adventure with Pirates Islanders. Jonny and his team looking for ancient South Pacific ruins like in Tomb Raider 3. I even used red Dino Island seaplane for this setting.

Mostly agree, the one thing I don't like about the newer fig is the blue visor print, but that could be because a KO I got of that fig has the print distinctly off-center.

Can we just take a second to reflect how terribly lego handled stocking their sets for December? I know Covid but this is a major fault on Lego's part. Star Wars, their licenseshit bread and butter, is completely out of stock of every set save for three on their website. Two Brick sketches and Action Battle Hoth. They are completely missing out on the panic late buyers and it has been roughly the same all month.

same, I feel like a lot of lego problems will be solved more and more by dual molding, but since it is still relatively new maybe they just need to get better at it, the new scout trooper helmet is a good example of them getting it right

I like the race transport buggy's build, but I want this one because I won't feel bad stripping it for the turning wheel pieces and the helmet.

Okay, so his stuff is pretty old (early 2000s) and he made these amazing spaceships, that fit technic sized figures (pic related). One of his creations was a massive E-Wing from star wars

I know he has a brickshelf but I can't remember the name or find it on google

Baseplates are huge.
Injection molding big parts requires big machines with a lot of pressure (not that this should be an issue for Lego).
From my experience with such machines, normal bricks can be made by machines with 30-60 tons, while bigger parts like these plates require way bigger machines. Maybe they want to cut costs? Or use their big machines to make other stuff.

Anon I'm 28 years old. I own all the sets I want from the current wave. I bought pic related for my nephews in September. This remains 1/2 lego gifts I bought this year. This is by design. I've been done with my Christmas shopping for everyone else -which isn't lego- since October. Upon looking at the new sets for next year on their site I noticed everything was out of stock. Seeing as how it is a few days until Christmas, Lego made a major mistake here in missing out on last minute panic buying that will arrive late anyway. Those potential sales are now lost.

The granulate is pretty much irrelevant. Machine time is what costs money.
I would actually expect that the rate of rejects is higher for a 32x32 base plate than for a regular 2x2 brick while at the same time the production time is longer and as said, a way bigger machine is needed.

The company where i worked a few years ago made medical machines like pic related. The big panels on the front were some of the biggest injection molded parts.There was a lot of scrap during productions sometimes, and if that happened, the machine (our biggest) had to be stopped, granulate had to be removed, cleaning agent filled in, tool had to be removed, cleaned and then the whole thing had to be mounted again, heaters turned on again... etc. Many lost hours (i.e. lost money).

Restarting a small (lets say 30 ton) machine is do-able within an hour for one worker alone.
Restarting the 320 tons machine.. have fun with that if you are the only one working at night if an error occurs.
