What are you hyped for? I've had no interest on the Everdreamerz subline so far, but I'm 100% getting this and some of the Everdreamerz blindboxes that'll come at the same time look great for fantasy collections too.

Playmobil is doing so much right recently. Their DeLorean might legitimately be my favorite one ever made, striking the perfect balance between looks and playability.

However, I do wish that they would update their figures a little bit. With a little bit of clever engineering, they could preserve compatibility/swapping with their old figs, while adding stuff like swivel wrists and separately moving legs.

Not sure why it hasn't really taken off in America. In Europe (Spain in my case) it typically gets between one third to just as much shelf space as Lego which is a lot.

The 70336 Pizzeria set looks great and it includes a lot of neat accesories. The official price of ~30€ seems pretty good for it, and on top of that the waitress is hot. Very likely buy for me

The skeleton faction for Novelmore sounded awesome, but the main set looks lame, let alone for 60€, and the blind boxed skeletons are going to have their price bloated to fucking 8€ each because of the plastic skull boxes. Hard pass on all of them.

I've just realiced that the 9454 gym set is ludo as fuck. It even has a rock climbing course on corner at the outside walls. Shame that I don't collect school sets and it would not make much sense by itself.

The multiple skeletons are not included in the set; they're blindboxed. I think only the main bad guy and two attacking mages from the opposing faction are included according to another picture.

For the building, I see a generic ground platform, then a back body and two skull pillars with what looks like uncolored ropes, all supporting a roof platform with a cannon, with nothing really remarkable imo. Also the sandy colors don't help the bones stang out.
It looks like the pillars might spin and it and it has some some sort of "induktionsfunktion" advertised to make the figure eyes glow. Maybe it's something spectacular, but it's leaving me a bit cold so far.

The idea of the faction in general is awesome, though. Hoping to see more of it for 2022.

Separate legs would be a logical improvement, but they wouldn't really that useful without knees and ankles. They do wonders for Lego minifigs because with their stubby legs and square feet they can pull off legit walking, running and climbing poses (and even keep the balance!), but I have trouble thinking of situations where separate legs would be a great advantage for a Playmobil figure. Even for kicking, Playmobil just encourages doing like this. Likewise for walking you just grab the figure and go tipitap tap tap in the direction you want to go. At the end of the day the linked legs just feel right for Playmobil, even convenient.

They do have swivel wrists.

Good points. I guess part of me just wants the ability to be able to do it, even if it doesn't have much practical application.

As for the wrists, I was wrong--at the time I had grabbed the nearest figure to me, Doc Brown, and tried twisting them and they didn't move. Turns out they were just stuck.

I have heard that Playmobil is expensive at the toy aisle, but I don't know, maybe Figma prices have desensitized me, I think it's one of the most cost-efficient lines out there.

Sure, some of the bigger sets cost more than a hundred euros, and there's a gigantic library of sets to rape your wallet, but a single figure with a fully featured accesory set (Playmobil Special Plus) just costs 4-5€ depending on where you buy. This pizzeria >>8641585
costs less than two Marvel Legends figures, even going by American lower ML prices, and it's full of things. And pic related is an insane set that goes for only 50-60€ default price, and right now with the seasonal discount I'm seeing it at 37,50€ at the Spanish official Playmobil store! If only I had where to put it!

Yeah that doesn't seem that great for €60. I've noticed the price has been going up quite a bit recently, I was interested in some of the Scooby Doo sets but I'll definitely be waiting for a sale.

Having said that, most older sets can be found super cheap, especially if you buy second hand. Playmobil just doesn't hold its value like Lego does.

Does anyone have experience buying multiple blind bags/boxes at once?

I used to buy just the figures I wanted the most already opened 2nd hand so I never cared about the odds. I had read some people complain about buying several bags and getting repeats and I thought "typical people complaining that they miss a 99% shot in XCOM", but then last year I bought four blind bags that were on clearance at the official Playmobil store and indeed I got four of the same figure, like they were not correctly shuffled.

Now I'm worried of buying several again. I think regular retail boxes of blind bags are correctly mixed? Like I seem to recall soome claim that you were guaranteed the full set if you got the whole box or maybe I'm mixing it with other brand. Any ideas to make safe purchases, other than spreading them in time and space?

Playmobil is actually rather cheap here (Germany). At least compared with Lego.
That Delorean for example is "only" 36€($43) on amazon right now.

I used to collect Lion Knights.

What people often don't know is that you can actually switch legs, arms and heads on playmobil figures just like on lego figures. (granted, a little bit more difficult).
Once you realized this, creating custom figures and switching gear becomes way more interesting.

Just a reminder to all 1:18 collectors: Playmobil is basically 1:18 scale and all their vehicles can be converted to hold your GI Joes and Acid Rain figures by cutting out a hole where they feet will go.
The underside of the vehicles are usually showing the negative side of the mold, so it's very easy to cut out.

Its very good quality throughout.
Its weakest point for me are the stiff looking figures.
I you are ok with that and the lack of customizability of the sets (western fort and castle walls can be built as you want actually) then its a great toy.

I liked the regular Knights and History themes sprinkled with fantasy stuff here and there and I have conflicted feeling about Novelmore, especially seeing it appears to have been pretty succesful among kids and we haven't seem major releases of regular knights in a couple years. I wish we can keep getting both regular historical and fantasy knights.

Not a fan of the Novelmore faction itself with their blue color, gearwheel insignia, oversized weapons and geometry of their playsets. It's a bit limiting: they can only be Novelmore knights. I like the Burnham raiders better. They have a few of the Novelmore traits, but imo their fire theme is less jarring and they mix great as piromancers within the various iterations of dragon knights.

The upcoming skeleton faction is very interesting, but I find their main set underwhelming, and the troop builders are going to be sold in expensive skull-shaped blind boxes.

The mage faction doesn't look particularly interesting to me, but I'll have to wait and see better quality pictures.

I think both the skeleton and mage factions have potential. Maybe for the 2022 releases. The Novelmore line in general feels a bit overpriced, though.

Right now I'm way more excited for the Everdreamerz witch wagon >>8640221 than any Novelmore set thb.

The figures go in theme plastic bags: Roman, Egyptian, Western, etc.
Weapons and armor go in another bag for shared use unless they are iconic designs of a given faction: any gladius, pilum, scutum go into the Roman bag; dragon helmets and dragon decorated shields go into the dragon knight bag, etc.
Same with other small accesories.
Larger stuff go however I can manage.

All joints from big animals are potential loose. Kids like to grab the legs or wings and than the body weight make it loose. A T-Rex he owns has the tendecy to loose a leg. Guess it is from stomping the legs on the floor.

In the 90s Gi Joe were common. The UK had a series called Action Team that incorporated GI JOe and later on changed into GI Joe. It was quite common for german, UK and french toy shops to have them. I think this was the time Toys r us opened own shops in europe.
And most european designers are from france, germany or uk.
Funny enough is that in the 90s you could get Zoids or Battlebeasts in europe. Something that never happened after 2000s. After 2000s only the big international series like Pokemon were avaible.

Ok, it seems that they sell well with the 3-8 years old. For me a big competitor in the 3-5 range are hardplastic toys like Schleich or Safari.
At 5-8 it is Lego and toys that are trending, like Marvel or Pokemon.
From europe sellers the knights/fantasy got the interest of the 8-12 old boys and the Spirit and girly fantasy from the 8-12 old girls.
Their best decision was dragons, which did a good competition against the spinmaster toys.
It seems movie licenses are doing ok. Not as goos as Lego.

I only know it from sellers, knights always did well from Playmobil. The knights with trolls did well. But since Nevermore is rather new and we had Corona, i didnt talked with sellers or visited toy isles, i dont have any indications.
But for this summer Playmobil had several big, easy-mold construction vehicle toys in stores. Like toys you would give kids to play at the beach or sandbox. They didnt sell well, because Corona, but overall outdoor toys sell ok. I think Playmobile started it 5 years ago and sellers dont like to order them in a big chunk but a handfull of them are rather easy to sell.

You can moc castles, to say the truth collecting playmobil is more about the figures. You see, I love playmobil because they bring me that joy of simple designs, like lego used to have the smiley face. Playmobil never changed that.
