About 2 months and no because I’m too insatiable with toys to care what I missed out on.
I do holiday themed wall displays with all kinds of toys. I can’t really ever feel like “Aw man, I should have got that” compared to “when will I stop?!?”

I don't think I've bothered to mark a specific time to not buy toys, I just buy when I see something I like and don't buy when there is nothing to interest me, I'm always checking online though to ensure I know if there is a new cool figure on the way. I've been collecting since I was a kid too so I guess never.

the regret I have at that time is I was not able to buy the VF-1 model kit by Bandai. I don't think they reprint it anymore.

i used to collect wwe mattel from 2010-2018(every basic and elite figure+protos), after TRU croaked, shit became a battle with ths local scalper to find anything and just not worth it so I switched to DBZ SHF, I miss that mattel made a lot of the jobbers and midcarder characters i always asked for like Rocky Johnson and the Red Rooster, but fuck them, they don't really serve me anymore and I'm still getting elbowed out of collecting locally because the distribution is still terrible

I had to stop from around late 2016 until November of last year. I had lost my job and had a hell of a time finding work. Had to live off credit cards and a personal loan. Eventually found another job but got screwed over by the owner after about 18 months and was back to square one. Luckily ended up getting hired by one of our old clients that he had also screwed over but I had to just focus on paying off my debts instead of toys.

There's not much that I regret missing out on, since I think I could grab them now if I really wanted. Most import lines were releasing stuff I didn't care about, like MCU characters and were also creeping up in price anyway. My main collection is Star Wars and at the time it was mainly sequel shit and I had zero interest in that. The few things I did care about have been released again in general or with the Black Series Archive waves so I just caught up on them that way or getting others for cheap off Amazon.

I think the biggest thing I missed out on that I would have really liked to get is probably the Mafex ESB Boba Fett. But I am more than happy with my Bandai model kit version. I spent a lot of time making it look good and it introduced me to the other Bandai kits that I've gotten since.

Prior to the break, I collected McFarlane Toys lines. I have quite a few full lines that I need to decide what to do with.

Had I collected during that time it would have been NECA Aliens and Predators. Now, I would have been happy with that collection, but in hindsight, I'm glad I had the break.
1000Toys Synthetic Human and Killy are what got me back into collecting, now I collect almost exclusively super-articulated Japanese figures and I enjoy every one of my toys. I believe I'm much happier than had I started again earlier. I am sad I missed a few Figuarts and Figma figures, but not many.

I've gone at most 10 months maybe 1 year. Either in '12, '13, '16, '17 as those were pretty lean years for me and collecting. If I went back and looked at those years and what was released there would probably be something I regret missing.
Off the top of my head what I'm most sad about is the jakks pacific megazord that never got released, which iirc was shown at toyfair '16.

Haven't really taken a break from collecting, but I did once spend several months buying only the things I had already pre-ordered, to save money on any splurging of used stuff. My only real toy regrets is not getting into certain lines sooner. My single biggest was in 2014 I had just watched Jojo, bought a small handful of SAS, and saw on Mandarake that damn near the entire line was 3-5k, and decided I could just backburner it while I focused on collecting Love Live merch, which is now worth maybe 2/3 of what I paid for it new. Womp womp
