Why do they do this? As a kid i always liked the villains more then the heroes, sometimes i would only buy the villain figures and skip the good guys entirely

Same here anon, and y'know what always grinded my gears? That the heroes always outnumbered the villains.
I know people say "villains don't sell" but I really wonder how much the numbers are affected by the fact there are always more heroes produced than villains so that means on average, if every one just buying a single figure each then there hero sales will be higher than the villains of you get what I mean.

I always like it when there are more villains than heroes. It gives the heroes more of a challenge.

Same, I know a lot of lines like G.I. Joe and Star Wars incentivize you to buy multiple of a basic army builder unit to make up the difference but it doesn't feel the same.

I remember spending years of my childhood trying to find a Jango Fett 3.35. I would search every store for him, of course, I was retarded and didnt understand that there would be no reason to make such a figure since epIII came out years ago and the clone wars tv show was in its early years. Think I was in middle school when I found him and it was in some 2 pack with a green droid.

I have 3 Optimus Prime figures while having a dozen Megatron figures.

All of the figures of him suck except one version, guess which is the rarest.
It was released 3 times but is still hard to find.
I'm still looking for one for a decent price, they don't turn up often.

Jurassic Park's theropods are all 'villains' but they make up a bulk of the figures even today and remain the most popular of the franchise. Villains are terrible people/beings but from an entertainment perspective movies and shows are almost entirely driven by antagonistic people/beings, otherwise shit doesn't happen. They're entertaining. Would I want to be in the same room as Hannibal Lecter? Fuck no, but he's still an amazing character to watch.

They had hero characters sure, but I don't think Star Wars ever really lapsed on villains. The Bounty hunters were always fun to collect.

Same. In my mind, the heroes need a variety of villains to fight so they can hone their skills. If you face the same villain over and over, or it's 5 heroes vs 1 villain it gets a little less intimdating. Also usually thought the villains had cooler designs too.

Wait a second, you mean to tell me that the majority of kids actually liked the heroes more? How does this happen? I always thought everyone was like me and liked the villains more because of the cool outfits. I get liking Batman more than Two-Face because of the cool outfit. But what kid in its right mind would like Luke more than Vader? I honestly can't wrap my head around it. Absolutely. You don't get to be a hero for beating just one bad guy. That's the way it is in movies, tv series and games, so why not toys too!

The Legacy Collection one, it got a release in the blue box line, the red box line and with coleman trebor as a two pack. The TVC one uses the same body but gives it gimmicky wrist blades for the fight on kamino.
