The early ones are janky and fall apart, and his capes are very bulky and unwieldy. Other than that I don't have a problem with the line. I think most of the kinks were ironed out by the time carnage was released, a shame spiderman is doomed with outdated engineering now.

Because the figures sacrifice sculpt for articulation and some people dislike that. Personally, Ihave no problem with it and really enjoy the line. Waiting for my blonde Harley to ship. Never once have I ever been happier to have missed out on the first release. I was originally mad I skipped it after seeing how great she turned out to be, but it ended up working out because I like the blonde a lot more.

Personally I just hate how they seem to have weird as fuck design choices almost every time. The extra couple poses you can get out of gambit's jacket for example, do not warrant the absolute mess his shoulders are.

It's also the only toy line I buy anymore that consistently may fall apart. I can't do anything with Gambit without his shoulder pads flying off. I can't do anything with venom without his top half falling off of his bottom half.

I also absolutely fucking hate everything that they do with capes.

This. Capeshit has been both the salvation and downfall for Yamaguchi. Being less confident with Japanese IP they went for Marvel and DC just to get some extra foreign sales (more so to do with China). Better sales and budget finally got them to make new joints to get rid of ratcheting joints for good. Last time it took something drastic as RevolMini for that to happen.

New engineering opportunities thus far haven't reached the kind of IP old Revo fans want them to remake or explore, except for some odd Eva offshoots and 2 Rebuilds.

A hairdryer wouldn't fix my issue with venom. Fifteen coats of future to try and thicken the peg and it's still too loose and his torso falls off the lower body.

The problem with Gambit's shoulder pads is that on the left side the socket on mine is much too small for the peg so it can't go in physically far enough to sit right. I'd have to dremel it out deeper in order to make it fit properly.

99% of problems like that can be fixed with hairdryer. If not one little extra thought leads to a solution. Alternative for their lax QC, because PVC is shitty plastic regardless, is figma. Overpriced and comes with less. If one extra step at home means less figma bullshit it's not a big deal. Babies cry over problems with simple solutions. Don't be one.

And there are many model kits at that price range, with your thinking process none of them should exist if price reflects extra work.

Sorry someone else replied for specific fixes and thought that was done. Venom, loose peg, have you tried something more permanent like super glue? Are you sure the holes they go into are not split? because eventually you will reach max peg thickness to get enough friction. What you used might not be lasting.

I'm tired for being characterized fanboy for that when I point out real problem like paint. That of course is conveniently ignored.

There's difference between easy fix and impossible ones. Why I'm not defending their bad paint by saying learn to repaint. I can go into more real problems like WM and all of his attachments are loose. There's a difference there because at optimal condition they would still be floppy. Worse than QC problem. Magneto's cape is too heavy and requires a stand all the time. Psylocke's hair is a huge solid for no reason.

So yeah sorry I don't consider the small things a real problem.

I'm a big g Revofan, and yes they do have QC issues. It's usually cosmetic though, like sloppy paint. The plastics are durable as hell.

Just buy from a reputable store like HLJ' and they will even send replacement parts for the minor stuff(like scuffed paint).

I love this Harley, but pretty much the entire AY line except Spidey and Psylocke are fantastic. Strictly by virtue of being one of the most recent, she's better than a lot of them, but they're still all pretty great and helped us get to the point where Harley turned out so amazing.

As far as I know, only Figuarts and Figma have done wired capes.

Figma Sayaka Miki, but that's an old figure and the newest figure with a cape, Shield Hero, doesn't have wires.

Figuarts Kamen Riders, particularly the Seihou ones, use wired capes if the suit has one. The Dr. Strange one is also wired, I think.

So, no, the "rest of the import figure industry" don't use wired capes. It's a case-by-case basis.

Figma Charming Drossel had a wired cloth cape. The way it was implemented didn't make the wires especially useful, but it had one.

The only Yamaguchi fig i generally don't care for is the Psylocke. Her solid unmoving hair is really annoying at times and my ape fingers are too big to effectively swap her hands
It was the first one i bought and im glad i pushed through and got more, the Deadpool is fantastic, Carnage is flawed but cool, and the Cable is fucking great.

I'm sure it also depends highly on the initial production volume. Deku they most certainly made just as many or more than recent AY which are already higher in quantity than earlier releases. Why we might see early AY like Venom get reissued multiple times.

Like with Nick, they got the rough idea of how many to make after Judy, and maybe see no reason to make a 2nd batch. There is also a minimum number to produce to see a reasonable profit and there might not be enough demand to reach there.

Anyways, there's no clear cut-rule. Earlier releases that were popular, have a new excuse (new movie etc) are more likely. Recent AY might take time to build up enough new potential buyers to reach a profitable production number. If Deku was highly underestimated in numbers it could be as early as within 2021.

The early ones definitely have some baffling choices. The double revoltech joints for shoulder are wonky. The Magneto cape is nigh functional.

Instead of parroting the same point though, I've been following Yamaguchi since the early 00s , pre-revoltech Kaiyodo, and he is no doubt one of the most polarizing sculptor since that era. Maybe those flaws were brought over from since back then. Like me with Humberto Ramos and NECK WOLVERINE, his sculpt are really stylized and it is not everyone's cup of tea. The head sculpts were notorious for being small. That awkward pelvic thrust stance that works dynamically but looks silly in neutral stance. There were also that weird diagonal cut joints that functioned OK but looks weird. I remember my cousin also complained that the Masaki Asai Keroro Gunso were massively superior to the Yamaguchi Keroro. The sculpt accuracy is off, the eyes were too wide apart. Add to the fact that early 00's Kaiyodo were NECA level of easy breakage since they used really shitty plastic for joints, it adds to the negative view in Kaiyodo as a whole. Yet his Monev the Gale and his Getter Robo, DMC trading toys were some of his early signature release. His proportion has since been better. And the less clickyness in Revoltech joints helped. The ball joint hips now gets rid of his need to do the pelvic thrust, and the head proportions aren't comically small now neither.. At the end of the day, from his twitter feed, he is just a guy who loves to do weird shit with his toys first and foremost.

I think the bigger problem has always been the Kaiyodo company itself. They are cheap as hell. Not surprising coming from making their biggest growths with garage kits and candy toys. And in a way always looked down on action figures. So they end up being made in the cheapest way possible and especially in recent years it shows. Getting rid of ratchet joints finally made them interesting at least. Hard plastic action figures nearing Bandai quality are starting to come out. From his tweets I get the sense Yamaguchi wants to do this with anything remotely mechanical.

I don't know if it made the difference, but Vulcan Logs from Union Creative felt better, had less QC issues than something Kaiyodo handled at the time like Revol Mini or Legacy. Eva comes out through Union now and they might have better QC too...?

Kaiyodo got bought out so who knows what the future holds for Yamaguchi figures.

I really dislike these kinds of displays. If he doesn't have the space then why does he have to be a completionist? There's no absolute best AY. The top tier AY are similar enough that's up to personal preference. And there is one completely different AY, two if you include Evas, in terms of materials and engineering. You could say they're superior to the rest.
