Their reasoning is that too many postal workers are taking off sick because of Covid, and because they're underfunded, they can't afford to hire more people to pick up the slack. Therefore, you get your packages whenever they get around to bringing it to you. That means, even if you pay extra money for first class priority shipping, you're not guaranteed to get that package in a timely manner.
They also claim that because of Covid, people are ordering more things online, so they're swamped with packages. That's a bullshit excuse since Amazon, Fedex, DHL, and UPS have also been inundated with tons of packages, but they make sure to get them to customers on time.
