Got curious and went back to watch Shartimu's video with him handling it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYaz_1TSJAE (time 16:50)

He totally skipped showing the legs coming forwards and only did the splits. This might be even worse than what the pessimists thought.

I've been buying modern mcfarlanes, some are better than others and honestly the quality isn't very consistent overall. For example, the very first modern figure he did(Fortnite cuddleteam leader) is STILL the most well-articulated figure in any of his new lines.

I'd cut him more slack, but he always comes off as arrogant when I see his interviews.

It's kind of scary how much better that looks. I feel like there are different levels of skills on their team, and some people just aren't as good, and then for whatever reason, the issues aren't addressed. Like look at Grim Knight, the figure looks pretty fantastic, but then you have the weirdly crooked arms, the zero effort put into the ankle joint, and the weirdly shaped head. Those flat cuts at the ankle joints seems to be someone on their team's specialty. They need some folks doing QC checks on the 3d sculpts (and deco applications) before approving them and sending them off, for sure. Kind of reminds me of people making fun of that new Goku, saying it's probably some low tier sculptors on the team. It's possible, but even there, I don't get why these people aren't then helped to improve their work rather than getting the go ahead as is.

McFartland critic here, got pic related out of the box to mess around with. He is aestheticly really nice(other than the very plastic looking over-coat), but it's got some problems that I've been bagging on this company for awhile now.

Horrible, what the hell were they thinking sculpting the hands connected to the wrist covers and limiting the hands to a basic swivel? Literally a step back from how they've been doing it already.

Yep they still can't swivel worth a damn, and that makes them annoyingly awkward.

The torso is okay this time around, not alot of forward motion but better than most McFs. Also not really a fan of the ratcheted ankles. Added black paint to the guns so they don't look nearly as shit from the front.

They're the same wrist joints as everything else in the line, they just hid them under the gloves like people have been asking/complaining about for a year.

I don't think you're trying hard enough to align the wrists. If it's difficult for you, you can remove the hand and manually turn the joint.
Anyways, I think I'll shit on it a bit myself.
His shins and thighs look lanky to me. A lot of McFarlane stuff has these musclemen that look like they skipped leg day. It's honestly my only issue with their flashpoint Batman.
The joints in the ankles are shit as always. There's way too much space between ratchets that it makes a stable standing pose hard for no reason.
Also my Red Hood has a dent in his helmet. Guy fucking hit his head on a low beam at some point. It's driving me nuts.
Cool figure overall, though.

Diamond Select currently has LotR and are soon releasing their Legolas and Gimli. But at the same time both McFarlane and DST now have Avatar licenses, so idk if that was some sort of weird naming caveat (Last Airbender vs Legend of Aang) that allowed it, especially since they'll both be making 7" figures, but maybe Todd and friends know something we don't and such a thing could be possible, in them getting LotR. Doom yes, the designs at the time were too cumbersome or they chose to design them that way. Warhammer Marines have all the articulation every other figure has besides toes, and the Necron has everything besides double elbows, and it has a ton of range due to the design.

For example the Marine could easily have single joints in the elbows, but it has double, it just happens that the thick sculpt and large pauldrons don't let it go beyond a certain point. About your second point, I would agree, but if we start picking at specific joints then the discussion would be endless. About semantics, the general idea is the same, but there is still a notable difference. For example I could say ML Red Hulk and Nimrod have identical points of articulation, but you'd be wrong to assume they both have the same amount of range in those joints.

This is springing out of a comparison to ML, a line where virtually no figures can do the splits or move their legs backwards, are limited to a single direction of ankle and wrist movement, and have ugly limited torso articulation with straight cuts and hinges. ML has more range in only a handful of POA.

Fair enough, I avoided the release because of the single-elbows.

What it seems to come down-to is the plastic diaper. Todd likes having his figures with sculpted diapers alot of the time, ML rarely ever does. Todd also hates having functioning thigh-swivel so that doesn't help.

The mechanics are entirely different, the ML doesn't need to throw it's entire leg out of whack to achieve that kind of pose, you can just kick forward and twist the swivel. Proper swivel makes posing the legs easier and offers more options.

Sometimes you want a generic looking style.

If we wanted very specific designs, DCC is usually the only one who did a good job at it.

It was hinted at that they were going to. I'd imagine whenever the next big set of reveals happens we'll see another Titan or 2. If we don't, maybe Cyborg's sales were real rough and they were discouraged from making more. We'll have to wait and see.

Nearly every single comic book character is stylized and has been stylized in at least 1000 different ways.

Most toys of them are not.

Guess how many toys of comic book characters i own that are not stylized?
hint: only DCC made it their mission to produce comic book accurate styles
hint 2: Mafex has only tried to do comic book accurate styles in maybe 5 releases
hint 3: Hasbro has only tried to do comic book accurate styles in maybe 5 releases
hint 4: NECA, Toy Biz, McFarlane, Mezco, Bandai, Kaiyodo, Diamond, rarely ever tried

Not that guy but Cyborg is still stylized to be cartoony so he still doesn't fit in with the rest of the line. He's just stylized wrong. He doesn't look like the TT art and he doesn't look like the rest of the line. It's the worst of both worlds.
