And sometimes too these people have no business sense. Sectaurs took several tries cause after Coleco the rights went to some guy. The guy always wanted way too much money for the license. From what the guy who eventually got it said Super 7 paid way less to Mattel than he wanted for Sectaurs which by no means is a big thing. The one guy who owns Mantech wants an insane amount for just a license. A guy was able to outright BUY the IPs for 3 old Ideal lines for less than the licensing fee. The Crystar holders want crazy money for the ip names but it’s something stupid like that Marvel still owns the designs and backstory but not the names. That’s why we haven’t seen Crystar in Marvel Legends but he has shown up unnamed in Secret Wars.
Centurions was a mess cause the Kirby estate demanded crazy money for something that may not even do well. I think it was Zica that weighed in on a kickstarter. The figs would have to be super pricey to pay the rights to the all the IP owners. Based on how their Eagle Force and Sectaurs did and what Bossfight pays for their licenses, it wasn’t worth it to have a failed Kickstarter on their record.
