Hasbro will have their presentations, McFarlane will do their McFarlaneCon, Mattel will probably have some presentations to showcase some new Masters things among other things, etc. It's unfortunate that it's been cancelled, but not that big a deal, at least for the bigger companies. Hopefully all the little guys can collab with the bigger toy news sites to get the info out there.

I want to pay money for tickets, then pay for flights and hotels JUST so I can have the privilege of waiting in lines for hours to be told either: "sold out" or "pay us for this exclusive"

I don't want to just log into a website and pay for the item. It's too convenient and I'll save hundreds of dollars! This sucks. I like waiting in line and buying $10 slices of greasy convention pizza while I awkwardly try to stand and eat.

Kek, I wish. My wallet could use a break. With online retailers and the largest ones offering free shipping, there wont be a slow down at all. And toy companies already know how to handle online conventions from last years in person convention cancellations.

I don't think anyone realizes that Toy Fair is not only to create hype for upcoming products, but most importantly for toy companies and retailers to show off their wares so that they can carry shit in their stores.
Without these INDUSTRY shows, it's a lot harder for every single toy company to get their toys into stores.

These conventions are for work. The toy news/hype is just a by-product of toy companies showing off the toys they want to release for the next year.

These shows are usually done in the most convenient locations, known worldwide, in order for companies from around the world to congregate in a single location.
The only other way to do this shit is going to each retailer's/distributor's offices, but who has the time and money to do that? It's all but impossible to do that right now, with travel being limited.
Webcam conferences are a joke when it comes to physical goods and small companies would likely never get a chance vs having a display booth at a convention and a retail buyer liking what he sees when passing by.

Also, i was wrong about Kaiyodo, because it seems like they haven't been to Toy Fair in like a decade. Makes sense, given the fact how poorly their shit sold, yamachu being too japaense for western tastes, and only stores that import shit get them.
