Preorders already closed on amiami, and it's hitting restrictions for page viewing. I just threw in my preorder on HLJ, so hopefully I got in.

Y'know, this is one of those things I always told myself I'd buy if the chance came up again.

Now that it's here...I dunno. That's a lot of money I could use for other shit, and the more I think about it, the more it feels like an overhyped dust collector that I can look at on my shelf once every three months and remember "oh yeah, I bought that." It suddenly feels akin to buying a huge DeLorean or Batmobile or something...some basic bitch geek cred type shit. I guess I'm sorta over that.

Yeah if it came with a 1/6 Kaneda of modern quality or was in a different scale to at least get some more play value out of I'd be down for a similar pricetag. Just doesn't feel super worth it to me, but I totally get why it's selling out so goddamn fast.

600 is honestly pretty fair for a large, electronic 1/6 motorcycle with no room for alternate versions. If this was some huge obnoxious 1/4 scale thing or some completely static and unplayable prop I'd totally agree. But honestly the first thing I thought is that I'm gonna skip Kaneda and give this thing to one of my historicals. Gonna have a Jurchen warrior riding this sucker.

It doesn't come with it, but they are putting the PBM! 1/6 Kaneda up for preorder simultaneously. Just FYI it's kind of a flawed figure though.

Nah, I'm not saying it's not a fair price. Just that I think I'm over throwing out cash on these "iconic" geek culture things just to prove what a geek I am. It's still a cool-ass bike, I still love Akira, I just don't think I need a $600 monument to it in my house.

Just settle for the McFarlane one. It has the wrong decals, yeah, but it's still a decent looking bike and it's very solidly built.

They pop up a lot, they’re definitely pricey but you can probably find a loose one at discount, it’s not like the packaging is great.

Anything older than 5 years that isn't huge like Dragon Ball or some other such legacy isn't considered viable to Japanese companies for multiple releases like that.

I'm mildly surprised Bandai hasn't gone through with a deluxe figuarts Kaneda and bike set. I think >>8685070 nails it. I don't think the Japanese hold the same regard for Akira that westerners do.
