Noelle should have never been allowed to be the showrunner, she was too young(in her 20's) and got the job because of nepotism(she knew people in the industry), and because she was a woman. She didn't really understand She-Ra as a property since she was so young, and she never seemed to ask what makes She-Ra into She-Ra, as in what are the aspects of the classic franchise and the character that need to be present in order for the series to be She-Ra. Her version is very clearly a self-insert(one of the weirdest things allowed), and nothing about it is really marketable toward children-- most of your audience isn't going to be gay, lesbian, or trans, and most little girls don't hate their body, and little girls aren't boys either. This was a show that was meant to sell toys and it's startling how few toys were actually made, because she created a show that catered only to adults on twitter and deviantart. Noelle seemed too focused on "representation" and ripping off Avatar and Steven Universe.
The vintage She-Ra was a line of dolls that were also action figures, but still had little girl play features like brushable hair and princess fashion, and bubbles and all of that nonsense that goes into making a little girl doll line. An older showrunner might have understood that the show needed to be able to be marketed at little girls.
Also pic related-- She-Ra being clearanced next to Captain Marvel. According to Scott Neitlich's youtube videos, he was told that Captain Marvel was created in marketing, because they wanted to force a "STRONG" woman character, because Disney was convinced they could make billions of dollars if they did, but the character ended up flopping and little girls rejected a masculine woman.
