Thanks man. It was an instant preorder for me as soon as it was announced. I'm gonna try to score the 30cm Jet Jaguar to go with him. X-Plus hasn't made 30cm Gigan or Godzilla 1973, but they do have Gigan 72 and Godzilla 75 in the 30cm scale. I will probably go for those after JJ, since they're close enough to the 73 designs.

The best Kiryu you can get for the money is the 12" Bandai Kiryu you can find at Target for $30. Monsterarts made a Mechagodzilla 74 a couple of years ago that might still be found for a reasonable price, but their Kiryus are obscenely expensive now. Monsterarts are barely even worth it, even if you pay MSRP.

They're the best articulated figures, but they are too expensive for what they are. I suppose what something is "worth" is completely subjective, though. They are cool for recreating movie scenes and doing toy photography, but if all you do is pose them on the shelf and look at them, there are better options. There are cheaper figures that still look good, and there are things like X-Plus that are bigger and more screen-accurate than Monsterarts while being only a little bit more expensive.

This movie will get me back into theaters for the first time since March, but it is going to be shit beyond belief. I will have to come home and watch the 1962 Godzilla vs King Kong to cleanse the shit taste out of my mouth. I want to see them fight with enjoyable characters. What I will get is Past the wall Millie Bobby Brown and some shit subplot that no one cares about.

I think the design is ok, but I actually don't really care for the movie itself. I always felt like it was a mean-spirited movie made for normies who don't otherwise care for Godzilla. The effects were good, though.

The only footage we've seen from GvK depicts an aircraft carrier capable of supporting the weight of Godzilla and a Godzilla-sized Kong without immediately splitting and/or sinking, so, suffice to say, it's fucked.

That BS though, there are very few things you can imagine that are actually limited by physics, the most outlandish sci-fi concepts, are not limited by physics at all, and more often than not, come from actual scientists, not Youtubers. Those are just clickbait articles by the black science guy explaining why, with many assumptions, things wouldn't be possible because "physics".

But we know how water works, how plane carriers work, and we know Godzilla alone is heavy enough to nap on the seabed.

And the fact that that scene triggered so many people, on a toy thread about Kaijus should tell you that even for its setting, that's overly cartoony, in-world logic and physics still exist.

I don't know if they teach this outside of Physics 101, so as you get bigger, your volume grows...your weight goes up according to your volume. But the strength of your limbs goes up only according to this cross-sectional area, so it's a matter of area versus volume. Godzilla would collapse under his own weight into a puddle of guts. It's why heavy animals have thicker legs.

There's another article with a paleontologist Mike Habib that gets into the biology of it. Bones unable to support the weight of the body aside, the amount of blood needed to supply oxygen to the body would require a heart that filled the entirety of godzilla's chest, it would need to sunbathe all day to maintain body heat and it would cook itself in its own body heat. It's nerve impulses would be so slow it would be barely able to move.

Also, submerging in water isn't based on the weight of the creature, some have organs that take on water in order to submerge, similar to how submarines work.

Picked it up in a local collectible shop. Didn't think anything of it because it's where I occassionally pick up MMS godzilla figs and I have never seen a vinyl Kong before, but now I find it suspicious that it had no tags looking over it just now it has no company or copyright stamp.

These are on eBay and likely AliExpress. They’re essentially vinyl recasts of the Mezco Kong figure (which has more articulation and better details). I got the non-roaring one and he’s a fun monke to mess around with and pose with my old Imperial Godzilla from the 80s.

That explains it. It is still a fun figure, and I only collect the lower end sofubi kaiju anyway (like MMS and Ultramonsters), so it fits in find with the rest of my collection. Although, there's the new MMS Kong coming out, so we'll see if that one is better.

The original Godzilla was only twice the size of a blue whale, so it's not inconceivable that something as large as him might exist. A cold-blooded reptile also wouldn't need to eat as often as a mammal.

I think that explanation began in the Heisei movies. In the 1954 movie, it was said that he ate humans, and there's a deleted scene where he eats a cow on Odo Island. I can't recall if he actually eats anything in the later Showa movies, but I always assumed he was trying to eat Mothra's egg in the 1964 movie. Rodan also eats Meganulon and a dolphin in the Showa movies.

Again, the only thing that makes the "it's impossible because physics" articles work, is the very specific and narrow framework they work on, tailor made for that conclusion; You don't know if Godzilla breathes oxigen, you don't know if its bones have the same density as other animals in this planet are capable of, you don't know if its nerve impulses are as fast as they need to be, etc etc. Meeting all of those conditions would not be limited by physics. That it would be a freak of nature that a creature like that developed on earth is the only sensible statement.

And that still doesn't change the surface tension of water that we do know.

I think they've done an amicable job of trying to make this genre appeal to normies, I kind of wish KOTM had a more coherent plot rather than just throwing in so many memberberries, but Nips love putting nostalgia bait in everything, so that's probably more or less what Toho would have done if they made the movie too. I do want to see Toho take the reins again. I'm fine with them and Legendary making Godzilla movies simultaneously rather than them putting the Godzilla brand back into hibernation for another ten years again.

The Heisei Catzilla design from 89-95 used the same small head design cue to make his body look bulkier. The cow scene was in the script, they filmed it, took pictures of it, used it on promotional material, etc. And in that film they say he would human sacrifices the natives used to sail out to sea. Godzilla is an opurtunistic predator. His mutation nourishes him with radiation, but for a creature that hibernates for centuries, he eats what he can when he can and probably isn't too picky. But I guess it really depends on the incarnation of the character.

Great trailer but KotM's trailer was spectacular and the movie turned out to be mostly garbage so we can't trust it to say anything about the overall experience.
