Cons are CHOMPING at the bit to come back, because most can't survive 2 years without a show.
As such, they're bending over backwards to work with cities and venues about protections, sanitations, and importantly, attendance caps (keeping social distancing an option)
To make matters worse, many events have multi year contracts, and were ONLY let out of the contract for 2020 because the city or state demanded it
TFCon happening in two locations, in two countries, means they have to deal with two very different sets of rules.
The canadian one being in July MIGHT mean there's a chance of risk or cancellation, but probably not. The baltimore one is 10 months out. If the coronavirus is still at high numbers at nearly 2 years since it started, then everyone's going to live their lives just assuming the risk.
Botcon, who announced the date a year ago and STILL hasn't updated, well... I think they're not coming back (were they even back? I thought they died before the pandemic)
It's the same as during a long term war. Eventually people just go about their lives, danger be damned.
Transformers conventions have the bonus of being EXTREMELY small by comparison to normal conventions. (The Botcon staff were shocked when I referred to it as a "small convention" when I went last. They were completely oblivious to what a medium or large convention even was)
