Vernon and Rat King should be hitting any week now. Sadly, what I'm hearing is they will be shipped the old way (in the big NECA boxes) and not the so far, far superior way of Target stocking things. Not sure if it's just for this set as a transition or what. Time will tell.

Yes, that's it. I can get the leg to move forward, back and to the side. No rotation though. Will give that a try. Great figure otherwise, though the LED batteries died after one quick use.

Did you try making sure the batteries are in place? I know that sounds weird, but that happened with my Lasershot pred. I popped the lid, pressed/rolled the batteries in place and then put the lid back on and the batteries were all good. Sometimes taking that plastic tab out slides them out of place.

Sucks. Glad I'm basically done with the line, after I got Splinter and Baxter all I need is Android Krang. I'd love to get a lot of these secondary characters but this line is such a pain in the ass to collect that I'm better off just focusing on the main cast to avoid the headache.

Has anyone else's Predator ball hips been getting loose? Picked up some of my Predators I have on display for years now to re-pose them and the hips have gotten really loose. Unless I have their hip leaning on a solid part of their loin cloth, the whole figure starts buckling under its own weight.

Yeah I haven't moved them in years so they've just been holding their poses all this time. Now that I'm been posing them again it seems the hips have gotten loose somehow. Is there a known easy fix for it that doesn't risk damaging/straining the hips?

Someone mentioned to me before that using a light glue like elmer's for kids can help stiffen up joints without making them so stiff they might break like if you used crazy glue or whatever. I think I even read using vaseline somewhere.

You can't. NECA can't find a trustworthy factory even if their life depended on it, nearly every recent figure of theirs ended up on AliExpress. Of course when asked Randy will always claim they're bootlegs, but they're the same figure made in the same damn factory.

bootlegs were never even really a thing with NECA until about 2013-2014-ish. Sure, there were some bootlegs here and there, but they were very easy to parse out, and it was very few figures that got bootlegged.

I've always collected their Predators, and for the first 4-5 years of the line, there were exactly three Predators that got bootlegged--The wave 3 P2 Elder, the "Classic" Predator from Predators, and one of the Jungle Hunters. And it was easy to tell them even just from a glance. Nowadays, a figure barely releases and there's already a swathe of Chinese sellers hocking bootlegs on eBay.

I noticed the change happened back in 2013-ish when NECA changed factories back them, and it took like a full year for them to release Predator wave 12 and Aliens wave 3.

I THINK they're referencing an old Kong movie posters, like how they did the poster Godzilla. But the poster Godzilla actually used the old Godzilla poster for it's packaging.

Since this isn't a licensed Kong, they can't use the old Universal poster for the package, so IF it is a old poster variant Kong, and they can't use the poster on the package, so it kinda seems like a dumb move on NECA's part.

They should have done a black and white variant. Maybe actually add the accessories he's lacking like the chains.

Yeah, I don't see S7 doing well with ultiamtes. They usually seem to do alright with the cartoony/stylized stuff and even then it's iffy.

However I do appreciate the fact that they donj't just churn out JUST the obvious characters first, they throw in an obscure character or 2 in the first wave. But with the over complex nature that is licensing toho monsters I don't know how this will all turn out.

Well the Frankenstein is already Karloff. Wolfman will be Talbot like you said,Gil-man is a suit. If they can pull off the Lugosi rights this will be the ultimate hat-trick. I personally prefer Christopher Lee and my favorite dracula depiction is in the Castlevania games but Lugosi does need a proper figure

Man, really liking Stalker. That orange pattern looks really damn nice. I don't think there's a way to remove the chest armor to mimic the movie look better, but this is slick looking.

I do wish the backpack plugged in tighter. It works, it stays put, but too uch of a shake and it slips off. The plasmacaster being on a rail is a neat touch though.

The original Stalker was one of the more boring ones out of the Lost Tribe figures. This one was a lot better, for sure. I haven't tried to take the armor off mine, but a lot of the promo pics show him without it, so there has to be a way.

It's safe to assume we'll get both color and black and white versions.
I wonder if like the colored releases will be wide release and the B&W versions will be exclusives? Who knows. Hopefully us soon. I would guess they'll give more details around whenever Toy Fair was supposed to take place.

I would gladly buy a Frankenstein in B&W but if they do a creature of the Black Lagoon, I'm gonna need that bad boy in color. But who am I kidding, I'll buy them all regardless.

The Kenner Aliens won't get "ultimates" and the Rhino alien really isn't an Ultimate in the sense of it being and improved release, I think its just the pricepoint thing. NECA rereleased the Scorpion Alien to target and their existing NECA homages have about as much articulation as you'd expect from any modern Alien release; the Ultimate aspect on the Alien/Aliens/3 release comes from added articulation and accessories.

Also as far as Kenner Aliens go, they still need to do the Bull, the Airachnid, the Crab, the Swarm,Night Cougar, Panther, the Flying Queen and the King(the last two will probably be ultimates)Most of those will require a lot new sculpting so I can see them taking their time on those. rhino will probably be remolded for Wild boar and Bull, and the Dog alien could be used as a base for the Cougar/Panther.

I own every horror ultimate, I can't fit them all in one detolf section, but this is my main horror display.

The shelves under are still mostly horror, but those are mainly just the ones I couldn't fit in this main display. I gotta get another display because I don't like how congested it is, and so I can separate the strictly horror figures from sci fi characters, since I find myself with a lot of Alien characters and predator figures that I can't fit in any display.

Lasershot was practically the last real Kenner Pred that needed to be done outside of unreleased protos, and some dumb recolors. I guess it depends on how deep they want to into doing Ultimate versions of old Preds, because many of the Kenner Predators are on the old bodies so they're pretty blah next to the more recent ones anyway. It would be nice if they updated them, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

That said, I'm pretty convinced that they're going to use the Alpha Predator's body for Super Predator 2.0s. It just has the right look and build, I think. Its possible they could redo the Kenner figures too, because now they'd have the body for Nightstorm and Scavage.

For the Aliens, I don't know if they'd do ultimate versions or not. Honestly, the Ultimate aliens feel a bit lazy, since they all just have a facehugger, egg, chestburster and in the case of the Kenner xenos, they'd have their comic. I'm not sure what they could add to the figures to make them really feel "ultimate." Most of the other Ultimate figures have shit tons of stuff, especially the Predators.

Well, I guess technically they still have a fair amount of the Kenner Marines they could do. Atax, Hicks, Hudson, Bishop, and I think later waves had one or two others.

As has been discussed in another thread, it's very clear Brian WAY oversimplified how that interaction with Toho went. He even said that the initial licensing was strict. I do expect Toho to start tugging on strings as they get going. It won't be as smooth a process as everyone thinks. Never is.

And ATAX too. Real question: would they just retool Queen parts to attach to him or make the parts a new sculpt that looks more mechanical like the toy did? If they could replicate the Giger biomechanics to Queen parts I’d buy it at any price.

I'm excited to get mine, but kinda bummed he has no wrist articulation. I guess since he wears gloves, they couldn't reuse the wrist joint from the blank bodies, and they're not gonna engineer new wrist joints for an obscure shout factory release, so I get it, but still it's a bummer.

Eh, I love NECA but it bothers me more than it should when super hero action figures are sculpted in a way that makes them look like they're not wearing cloth, but look look like their costumes are painted on their skin.
No matter how tight of a material anyone is wearing you would not see muscle definition to that degree, and I know comic books are notorious for having crazy buff characters, but even then the muscle definition isn't drawn like that most of the time.

I think dialing back on muscle definition on the torsos, arms and legs and maybe adding some subtle cloth wrinkles would go a long way in making it look good. That's part of why most American super hero toys look so cheap to me. But the paint looks really good on these NECA figures atleast.

If they're gonna make a figure of a naked super ripped dude than it works, but that's not the case here. It would look better if they pulled back on the definition.

Look at this pic of flash Gordon from the comic. He's wearing a tight shirt and you can tell he's a buff dude, but you don't see every little muscle group, like holy shit.

Look at those figures, or most of the figures on re-used bodies that are in the Marvel legends line. These toys look like they're wearing material SO tight that you can see the serratus magnus and shit but somehow it's not tight enough to see nipples? Come the fuck on. Nothing can look like that. I don't give two shits about DC or Mcfarlane toys but their DC line of figures seems to not do that bullshit, so I at least appreciate that.
