I don't think it's necessarily dying, but it's definitely not doing well at all. Hasbro badly mishandled nearly every aspect of the TVC relaunch and it still hasn't recovered. Stores are still reluctant to order TVC in large numbers because they got burned on that first wave that pegwarmed horribly. The line's alive but it's limping along.

I do wish they would have given them varied personalities in TCW.

Have fresh out of the factory ones be more monotone like in TPM, while the older ones that have seen a lot of action have more personality.

Maybe some just want to fulfill their programing, while others just want to survive.

The "What Dat? Dat Nothin'" voices of the SBDs in ROTS are terrible, and I wish Lucas would have special editioned them to have TCW SBD voice box.

Funny how we never got anything with the PK droids outside of TPM.

Yeah, I always found that odd. But, in the show, at that point, the only thing we technically see of his “flesh” are his inards after being slashed up and blown up, leaving him skinless. Prior to all that, he could’ve had white, humanoid skin. Of course, later comics made his skin color reddish or grey, depending on if it was pre or post augmentations.

He also wasn't a Mandalorian. He attempted to assassinate the then current Mandalore, who upon failing to do so, had him tortured until he went into a coma, since they couldn't kill him.

After waking up, he learned that the last known Mandalore; Jango Fett was already dead, but he had a bunch of clones, so he decided to work for the CIS so he could take out his hatred on what he felt was the last remnant of the Mandalorians who tortured him.

I wish they would make some effects pieces to convey Force powers, like how Marvel figures sometimes. I know some versions of Palpatine came with lightning, but that's been about it. Specifically, I wish the Plo Koon BS figure came with a Force push type effect like his original AotC figure did back in the day. Stuff like that would be cool. For western markets yea, the japs make some in the same scale that are better at moving around and usually have better detail/paint but they also cost around 4x as much. Beyond that you have hot toys which are 1/6 scale which will land you the best details with cloth for shit like bodysuits so you barely see any articulation points but those run you around 200 or so a pop.

AotC's toy line was, in many ways, the absolute peak of Star Wars toys. They included so many cool little accessories and details like that with every figure, had decent articulation and were well made, and there was tons of variety. Also, probably the largest breadth of new vehicles and playsets. I had the Geonosian arena and droid foundry, the hangar where Dooku fought everyone, the Geonosian fighter, all three of the alien creatures from the arena, the Republic Gunship, a Spider Droid, and a Hellfire tank. It may not be the best movie in the saga or my favorite, but Dan if I'm not nostalgic for those toys. Even RotS' toy line a few years later paled in comparison, granted I was in high school by then and wasn't paying nearly as much attention to it but still.

Rose tinted glasses, dude. The Saga line was amazing for accessories but the figures themselves were very hit or miss. Especially in 2002, they went really hard on figures stuck in static action poses. This was also where Hasbro first started doing repacks to fill space.

Rex and bly have better articulation then the others by virtue of their arms being able to bend further than the other 3 so if you're only gonna go for one I'd say go for one of those 2. Personally I would go for rex if he wasn't going for like 60 bucks on the secondary market. Bly is a good choice too and can still be had for retail from places like bbts.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do another version for his season 2 look since it wouldn't require much updating on the sculpt, just have to replace his right thigh armor and add the kneepad from the pre-Beskar version. This is cool. Greedo is coming on a Vintage cardback as well.

Hasbro is doing alright in my book. I just wish they’d redo outdated figures like Qui-Gon and Ben Kenobi instead of merely repainting them. They could be done much better with today’s technology. That’s the only thing bugging me about the black series, the inconsistencies between figures. The Archive Hoth Han and Hoth Luke are cool, but man, when you compare the two to say, Bespin Han and Snowspeeder Luke, it’s just like night and day.

Imagine if they completely redesigned Qui-Gon, Bespin Luke, Jedi Luke, with the new way they produce figures.

The original Qui-Gon they did had recessed eye lids that have ACTUAL eye balls in them. Hasbro was experimenting and this is what they did right before photo real. Qui-Gon is the only figure in the line to have sculpted eyeballs within the headsculpt.

They need to redo his head.

Episode I Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, Snowspeeder Luke, ESB Vader and Dooku should be the standard for lightsaber wielding Jedi/Sith characters. The butterfly shoulders, deep cut hinges for the elbows and knees etc. are a must imo. It’s really hard to look at the older figures now.

I agree with you about Jedi Luke, but I also think Episode III Obi-Wan and Anakin desperately need upgrades, especially Obi-Wan.

Honestly i'm so glad they stopped creating toys in the style of the cartoons. Nobody wants an action figure / Lego minifigure that doesn't fit in with the rest of the collection.

They just put out a wave of Archive figures of Bossk, IG-88, Hoth Han, Hoth Luke, Thrawn and Cody. Imagine if they had just put them on anniversary vintage cardbacks instead. You’d have some people buying doubles just for the cards. Better late than never I guess.

They should make some POTF2 and ROTS card backs. Imagine Thrawn on the green POTF2 cardback or Cody on a ROTS style cardback.

I like that they were in the style of the cartoons. Then again I'm someone who doesn't mind making separate displays but I'm an illustrator so the aesthetic is appealing to me.

It's also why I really like the Galaxy of Adventures line. I only have Boba, Luke, Han, and Chewie but for the size and price, they're very nice toys. Even have better articulation than some TVC stuff. I'm hoping the rumor about the Din Djarin figure is true and they show something for it on Friday. And maybe along with a stormtrooper.

I don't know why they don't do that, honestly. The face tech is typically nice (though on that Hoth Luke at least it seems like a negative given that the headsculpt has scars on it that I haven't seen painted) but it's not enough when the articulation is outdated, the scale of the bodies is all over the place and the molds themselves are seeing some degradation. I understand the decision not to from a business perspective for the most part but properly updating Jedi Knight Luke and others feels like it'd more than recover the cost.

I only got him trying to take advantage of the free international shipping while getting the 2 stormtrooper (along with K2SO and a death trooper)

The online image looks great, but getting him in hand, the full plastic tunic and robe made him look fat.

If anything, the last version, the one with molded tunic and soft good robe is in my opinion the best looking one. At least that got a slim waist.
To be fair, this one has a better looking crotch design.

Will take him out of the package when I got the chance. I got a backlog with plastic model, but there are so many things from transformers ship out just these few days now I also got a backlog with normal toys on my hands.

I always thought the animated Anakin was the real one. That Anakin had real depth and was pretty badass too.

Overall the animated series added real story to the prequels,

Looks fine to me. The pram isn't very big and you also see Grogu sitting in it most of the time which is something the plastic figure can't do obviously. I couldn't do a perfect comparison since this is the only photo I have of my figures together on my phone but it's close enough. I also tried to find a screenshot with the pram as close to Din as possible since most of the time it's a bit behind him.

Never heard of this, but this seems like a very dumb idea. Just let it be and do a soft reboot like Mando might suggest with its inconsistencies to the ST.

The theory is, ST timeline is where Ahsoka dies, the "current" timeline is where she lives. Semi makes sense because the current cannon says Luke's first student is Ben, and now we know that isn't true. Even the years don't line up.

Picked up a couple of comic packs for like $25 each. Wedge Antilles and Borsk Fey'lya along with Quinlan Vos and Vilmarh Grahrk. Borsk is a Bothan, so that's cool to have. Don't really have any complaints about him. Wedge has a cool outfit but his head seems a little small and his legs suck. Vos is alright, but feels like he's made of a soft plastic and is a bit limited with articulation. Villie is the same way, neither have any articulation below the waist, but his arms are incredibly loose to the point I think they might be broken in some way. I dunno, despite being a cool Devaronian he's probably my least favorite of the bunch just because of that awful looseness in his arms.

Yakface is saying the August wave of Black Series Archive is gonna have two Revenge of the Sith figures. So if we reverse engineer this, Grievous is apparently a deluxe figure so he's out of the question; Anakin and Cody were already in Black Series Archive. Gree is getting a rerelease already through fan channels. Senate Guard is way too niche of a choice. It pretty much just leaves Obi-Wan and a Clone Trooper, which Yakface is also hinting at being a 501st Clone Trooper.

Man, this Doomcock guy is riling you guys up, huh? I’ve only watched one of his videos before, well, technically two, counting his channel trailer, because someone sent me one of his videos before about the “Veil of the Force” thing.

I kind of have a feeling that most people who don’t like him are people who say “even if you didn’t like *insert Disney Star Wars film* you at least have to like the fact that *insert fact that isn’t all that likeable*!” Or people who straight up like the Disney films, or people who actually like the Disney films but pretend they don’t like them all that much so people won’t notice that they’re already biased towards thinking Disney is the best (and doing s bad job at hiding it).

I found his video gimmicks and setups to be kind of amusing, in a way. It’s at least better than some overweight/underweight guy talking into a camera where we see inside his room/talking at their computer desk where they can show off their overly expensive PC with their dedodated RGB RAM with ranch flavored liquid-cooling.

Anyways, that’s just my two cents. Here’s a nice Star Wars picture of some of the first few toys to come out based on the CGI The Clone Wars series. Because nostalgia, and to remind you that that was around ten years ago.

What I'm hating is a lot of Chinaman "fell off the truck" figures are harder to find.
There used to be scores of lot "Roger Roger" 3.75 sellers and you could pick up 5 or 6 for $15 or so Can.

She's like a microcosm of Disney Wars.

Social Justice Droid meant to push new Lucasfilm political narrative, but they end up undermining themselves by literally objectifying her when she's uploaded as the Falcon's computer system.

This is not only the worst possible end to her character arc; not only is she property, but she doesn't even get to stay with Lando; but it also retroactively ruins all the movies that take place afterwords, because whenever you see the Falcon, you're also seeing her flying around.

The TVC din figure is ridiculously good. Its way better proportioned than the larger scaled one.

I actually like the new rubbery plastic they use for tvc vs hard plastic. Not sure about the longevity but it works great for poseability and its easier to customize.

What’s the appeal of Legos Master Builder series /swg/?

They aren’t that great for display yet cost almost twice that of a modular building. So I’m not sure who the target audience is.
