Funkos seem relatively popular, and I've seen the comical amounts of money some go for? Would buying Funkos to resell online be a viable way to make money?
For clarity I'm not talking about buying in amounts that would bankrupt me. I'm just talking about buying 1-2 at a time and then reselling those.

It seems like Funko has declined a bit in general, where the only people that buy them are hardcores who will get everything or the casual who just wants a couple characters they did. A safer investment is usually sealed LEGO.

toys in general aren't a good investment. If you really want to invest your money, buy precious metals. Those will be worth something regardless of the geopolitical climate of the world. Stocks are okay but pretty viable if you don't know what you're doing. Bitcoin is trash and tandem to gambling.

Toys in general aren't a particularly good investment, mostly due to their bulk. It usually takes a while (at least 1-3 years) for something to gain value if it's even going to gain value, and you have to devote a bunch of space to them for all that time. The size also adds shipping costs, and between those, online seller fees, and the time/money/gas spent acquiring them, you'll barely make anything at all (if not outright losing money). All the stories about some old Star Wars toy or some niche Funko shit selling for stupid amounts usually stems from very specific conditions, and won't just be a matter of "grab some toys off the shelf at Walmart and hold onto them for a while."

Toy shows a couple of years ago were flooded with Pop-only stands. Nobody was buying them. They pile up at stores like GameStop, FYE, Walmart, etc until they go B2G1 or BOGO.

That said, it's not just Pops. If you're in the wrong area, selling _any_ toy for a profit is a serious fight. People just aren't buying until A) they hit Ollies or B) long after they've left Ollies and an the going rate is like triple retail. DON'T get into this unless you're comfortable sitting on everything you buy for 3-5 years and then being screamed at when you try to get $2 over retail when eBay's stuffed with triple retail listings.

You would be better off taking the money you planned to invest in inventory, chopping it up into a fine power, and snorting it up your nose.

Trust me as somebody who has been big enough to have dealer booths at conventions Funkos are absolutely not worth it
They're $10-12 retail and even at $5-8 sale you'll be lucky to sell em for anything over $10-15
I can't tell you the number of times iv'e had them come thru my stock just to sit for months before selling them at a loss

Maybe like 5 years ago but not anymore. It's only the hardcore autists that spend more than $20 for a pop. Or the nerds just starting. Unless you can get all the pops you plan to sell at like $5 each you won't be making much. All the good shit that is worth anything is already out of reach and there's no way to tell how much something might go up in value after it comes out.
