Nobody with any sort of understanding of economics thinks the USA is a third-world country. The United States is unique in that it has a strong economy, but also a terrible healthcare system, massive amounts of debt, high crime and unemployment rates and a massive percentage of the population who fall below the poverty line. No other country fits the same profile, because this is the first time in hundreds of years that a superpower has fallen into decline. The last time it happened was the Roman Empire and that was mostly done through violent means.
